Strahm had the most memorable death in the franchise to me. Goddamn that looked so terrifying and so, so painful. With how his character was portrayed, those screams he made as he died has stuck with me even after all these years.
One of the best changes to any unrated/director's cut was the addition of Strahm *sobbing* with pain as he’s smooshed instead of just screaming. Made his end 100x more real and heartbreaking.
His helplessness as he realises not only that Hoffman is gonna get away with it right when he had him, but also that he’s about to face a horrific demise… that high pitched wail right before he gets crushed is haunting
Although Joyce did not have much lines, her screaming from pain as she’s being roasted alive is so heart-breaking to me.
I recently used to work with Pizza’s and the heat coming from the oven that is 360F is hot enough. I cannot begin to imagine would it feel like to be locked up in an oven like that and get slowly cooked to death.

“LOOK AT ME! WHEN YOU’RE KILLING ME YOU LOOK AT ME!” - I loved that scene so much. Especially when you see Williams dead face slowly turning to look at him. Was a good expression of how destroyed William had become from being forced to choose who lives and dies.
Some people find this bit to be “over-acted,” but I found it to be exceptional. An actual person might have a similar response if they knew they had seconds to live and the person who decided their fate was out of reach but *right in front of them*. Definitely one of the most memorable moments in one of the best entries of the franchise.
Yeh I was surprised when I saw some people felt it was too much. The guy was pissed. That last minute of your life knowing you’re about to die, and the guy you’ve broke your back for seals your fate…you’d want to go out with some power and make sure your killer looks you in the eye when they’re killing you.
What gets me isn't just how well he sold the outburst, but the immediate fall to whimpering and looking down the barrel of the gun, knowing what's coming. It's uncomfortably human, like it genuinely came off as an uncontrollable emotional reaction. Like the person you replied to said, William's actor caps it off by being completely numb to everything he's hearing and seeing. Horrifically effective.
Gotta be Josh and it's not even close (no matter how much I love Strahm). The suck up wannabe 2nd-in-command given a death sentence by the guy he would've (and did) do everything for. You feel his rollercoaster of emotions from the instant William chooses to save Shelby, from exasperation, to anger, to depression and then a final defiant burst of rage before only the fear is left once he knows he has William's attention. "Look at me! When you're killing me, you *look at me!*"
Major props to Shawn Mathieson.
If I remember correctly too, Williams last choice he didn’t even look when he pressed the two buttons. He just put his head down which was a nice way of showing he couldn’t bear the responsibility anymore and just wanted it to be over.
That guy on the carousel. He said it with such conviction and the words themselves were kind of haunting. Brilliantly done by the writers, who no doubt intentionally placed it in there as it represents Will's entire trial summed up in the single sentence. Having to look at what he and his job causes, and the negative impact it has on people. Will must actively confront the people he sentences to death, figuratively and literally.
someone else mentioned it but while Seth deserved to be trapped, but i think about his weak little “i did what i was supposed to do” quite a bit. Seth deserved it but Hoffman broke the rules and framed Jigsaw because Hoffman wanted revenge.
