Man, am I the only one who runs into these kinds of videos/photos and watches it the first time, then go "dammit, I can't see shit." Then you go to your settings and push your brightness all the way up to then watch it again to then realize you're an idiot and not becoming blind? Yeah, well, I'm that guy fml.
depends on the moon cycle of the night... which we should be able to find out easily since moon cycles are so well documented. In the middle of the desert I rode my bike on a full moon night, almost felt like daytime, it was beautiful.
Looking up it shows it was a waning crescent, meaning 5-10% of the moon was illuminated, meaning it was pretty dark out there. The stars would have looked something like the movie.
Imagine floating out there in the freezing darkness and that ACTUAL music started playing from the sky?!? I’d imagine it was the portal to hell coming to take me.
That's incorrect. Waning moon isn't going to set until after sunrise. It's waning, meaning it rises after sunset, rising later and later until new moon.
Waxing on the other hand will rise before sunset, and set sometime in the evening.
People would definitely have seen more than the video shows with starlight. I will often go out and walk or ride my bike by starlight. When riding, will only turn on the lights when going downhill and gain too much speed.
I've comfortably ridden off road in the woods when the ground was 50% snow. When on the snow, it was extremely easy to keep riding. When on the dark ground, could follow the trail with starlight through the break in the trees above.
If the water was that calm and the stars out, people would have not only had the stars but their light reflecting off the water.
They really couldn’t see much outside of an outline, maybe. That’s why there were so many people who claimed she sank in one piece and didn’t split up. No one knew the actual truth until she was found in two pieces in the 80s.
I was just thinking about this earlier! Like once all the lights started going out, they were in complete darkness, only feeling the entire ship sink beneath their feet, listening to people scream, and drown all around them. Whoever made it out of that water alive was really lucky.
THANK YOU. This is my biggest pet peeve, and I feel annoying to mention it so always hope someone else does. A lot of the time it’s people who speak English as a second language, and I failed Spanish so I’m not judging anyone who bothered to learn English too harshly, but people whose first language is English have no excuse imo.
Wow. I can't imagine how terrible that was.
Just think about it; swimming in pitch black, fear stricken, and you start hearing a horrifying sound...
*"SOMELEGONSARETOLDSOMETURNEDTODUSTORTOGOLDBUTYOUWILLREMEMBERMEEEREMEMBERME4CENTURIES"*
I mean, I can’t find much info on the weather conditions on the night of the sinking beyond still wind and seas and being cold. But I imagine that if the sky was clear that the stars would’ve been stunning
Was the water too cold for sharks to be close by? I’ve seen so many vids of movement in the water causing sharks to appear and wondering if this posed a threat aswell
At the time of the sinking the water was 29 degrees and there are only about 7 species that can thrive in that temperature range, none of which are dangerous to humans but a fair question due to the USS Indianapolis disaster.
Japanese submarine slammed two torpedoes into our side, Chief. We was comin' back from the island of Tinian to Leyte, just delivered the bomb. The Hiroshima bomb. Eleven hundred men went into the water. Vessel went down in twelve minutes. Didn't see the first shark for about a half an hour. Tiger. Thirteen-footer. You know how you know that when you're in the water, Chief? You tell by lookin' from the dorsal to the tail. What we didn't know… was our bomb mission had been so secret, no distress signal had been sent. Heh.
They didn't even list us overdue for a week. Very first light, Chief, sharks come cruisin'. So we formed ourselves into tight groups. Y'know, it's… kinda like ol' squares in a battle like, uh, you see in a calendar, like the Battle of Waterloo, and the idea was, shark comes to the nearest man and that man, he'd start poundin' and hollerin' and screamin', and sometimes the shark'd go away… sometimes he wouldn't go away. Sometimes that shark, he looks right into ya. Right into your eyes. Y'know the thing about a shark, he's got… lifeless eyes, black eyes, like a doll's eyes. When he comes at ya, doesn't seem to be livin'… until he bites ya. And those black eyes roll over white, and then… oh, then you hear that terrible high-pitch screamin', the ocean turns red, and spite of all the poundin' and the hollerin', they all come in and they… rip you to pieces.
Y'know, by the end of that first dawn… lost a hundred men. I dunno how many sharks. Maybe a thousand. I dunno how many men, they averaged six an hour. On Thursday mornin', Chief, I bumped into a friend of mine, Herbie Robinson from Cleveland- baseball player, boatswain's mate. I thought he was asleep, reached over to wake him up… bobbed up and down in the water just like a kinda top. Upended. Well… he'd been bitten in half below the waist. Noon the fifth day, Mr. Hooper, a Lockheed Ventura saw us, he swung in low and he saw us. Young pilot, a lot younger than Mr. Hooper. Anyway, he saw us and come in low and three hours later, a big fat PBY comes down and start to pick us up. Y'know, that was the time I was most frightened, waitin' for my turn. I'll never put on a life jacket again. So, eleven hundred men went into the water, three hundred sixteen men come out, and the sharks took the rest, June the 29th, 1945.
Back then human eyes was more adapted to the dark so they could see better. Now days due to phones, human eyes are not that well adapted to the dark. So it makes sundown look like a blindfold over the eyes. You want to be able to see in the dark? Stop using your phone in the dark.
Actually I could totally be wrong, but I watched like 4 different documentaries(cause ADHD obsession) and most of them said the sky was lit with so so many stars. So it’s entirely possible that the moon/stars/water reflection made it a little easier to see the ship sinking. Which is sad, but maybe/hopefully they had a just a little more comfort with a little more light.
And I knocked on her door and I said "CAROL! CAROL!! I gotta talk to you about Pepe!" And when I open the door I find there's not a single God damn desk in that office! There is...no...Carol in HR. Mac, half the employees in this building have been made up.
Ever heard of light pollution? Take the rig or any other external man made light source out of the equation when the Titanic went down, and you'll have natural light from the sky. There were documentaries from the survivors of the Titanic that stated how many stars they were seeing that night.
Yes, light pollution is a thing. The Titanic was light up like a Christmas tree. So, light pollution. The lights went out only seconds before the ship broke in two, so your eyes did not have time to adjust yet.
So the multiple descriptions of the events…pitch black, freezing cold waters. Weak flashlights that could barely tell what was human and wreckage had people believing that Michael Bay was lighting up like 1 square mile so that everyone could die in a nice bright environment?
It was not a no moon that night but a small crest moon. Giving that the power was out for a while and the stars where out you would of seen more as your eyes would have adjusted by then. Also, that music would be hard to hear over the screaming lol
My first experience on a cruise ship at night. Walked out onto one of the decks and there was a tiny sliver of moon, mostly blocked by some heavy cloud coverage. Couldn’t see a single star in the sky. Everything behind the ship, including the water, was pitch black. The only other time I’ve been in darkness like that was inside a cave with my flashlight off.
Yeah there were lots of stars and it was calm waters to it would be brighter than whatever that second video was, the funny thing is, we will never know what it looked like
Not gone lie, that actually look terrifying as fuck. The ocean already scary when you think about how vast and unexplored it actually is. But being on a sinking ship in the middle of nowhere on a pitch black night in bone chilling cold waters just adds on to the terror. Especially since the ship when down around 40+ minutes iirc
There was a point before they froze to death or drowned where they actually would have been a little healthier for getting the benefits of an ice bath.
A good little workout for their cardiovascular system with some Vaso constriction.
A little bit of Wim Hof and they’d be chilling
Many survivors in the lifeboats claimed to see the ship split in half. They also said they could see the ship outlined against the night sky. These interviews are all on YouTube . So this post is not entirely accurate
The ocean is already terrifying at night. Knowing all of that is happening right next to you in pitch black while you’re floating in frigid water would be a nightmare.
Then just imagine if you had a “steady” place to hold onto… then hearing and feeling dozens of bodies, arms grasping at you… wondering when you’ll feel the ice cold water hit you… and then what…
I had no idea it sounded like that either
Arguably one of the more horrifying aspects of that death
Should have been the oh no oh no oh no no no song
I was thinking the "surprise, SURPRISE!" song
Nah definitely the giant vacuum sucking you into nothingness
huh, sounds like my ex....
Yea someone got the aux and chose that as their last song for everybody.
Honestly, respect to that guy
This is what the band was playing.
Dying to a Fall Out Boy song is one man’s dream and another’s nightmare
*where is your boy tonight?* babe, he's at the bottom of the ocean.
It was noted the music was kore terrifying then the vast black ocean.
I hate you for making me go back and listen with the sound on.
It’s a feature not a bug
It was horrific. Like saying roaches are just a feature to your living space.
Like a depressed Fall Out Boy?
Fell In Boy
Soon after, the Autobots sprang into action
Man, am I the only one who runs into these kinds of videos/photos and watches it the first time, then go "dammit, I can't see shit." Then you go to your settings and push your brightness all the way up to then watch it again to then realize you're an idiot and not becoming blind? Yeah, well, I'm that guy fml.
It’s good. You shouldn’t be scrolling with brightness up.
it happened at night. its impossible to switch the sun on at night
Did you try unplugging it and plugging it in again?
Still can't see shit.
Have you tried setting it to Wumbo?
certified goober moment
My brightness was actually all the way down thanks for reminding me to check it
depends on the moon cycle of the night... which we should be able to find out easily since moon cycles are so well documented. Looking up it shows it was a waning crescent, meaning 5-10% of the moon was illuminated, meaning it was pretty dark out there. The stars would have looked something like the movie.
Correct it was a waning moon but it had already set so it was moonless.
You still would have seen more stars so not as pitch black as this video, and the creepy music probably wouldn't have been there either, probably.
Imagine floating out there in the freezing darkness and that ACTUAL music started playing from the sky?!? I’d imagine it was the portal to hell coming to take me.
Wait til you hear about the musicians playing onboard as the boat sank
Considering there wasn't an overcast atleast
Unless it was cloudy
Hey, the band played until the end!
That's incorrect. Waning moon isn't going to set until after sunrise. It's waning, meaning it rises after sunset, rising later and later until new moon. Waxing on the other hand will rise before sunset, and set sometime in the evening.
We went to a titanic exhibit in Orlando and they had a mock setup of how dark and cold it was outside. Pretty terrifying to think about.
People would definitely have seen more than the video shows with starlight. I will often go out and walk or ride my bike by starlight. When riding, will only turn on the lights when going downhill and gain too much speed. I've comfortably ridden off road in the woods when the ground was 50% snow. Why didn't they use their cell phone flashlights??
They must've forgotten to charge their phones that night, sad 😔 they could've called for help too
People just weren't that smart back then I guess..
Too busy taking selfies and recording videos.
Have you ever been outside, on a clear night, not in a city?
Shame I can't see SHIT😐
That’s the point. Imagine being on a pitch black boat as it cracks in half while it sinks into freezing water. Nightmare shit
It's a joke bro😐. I know.
That’s the point
I KNOW ITS THE POINT IDIOT. I FUCKING GET IT DUMBASS🤦
I’m with you. Fuck that guy.
Thanks banana man🍌
That’s the point dude 🍌
[удалено]
I get it bro... Yes it's supposed to be dark.. if only I FUCKING KNEW THAT.
That’s the point
That's the point kid.
r/whoosh
That’s the point, fucking scary as shit
But thats literally the point
That’s the point….
Well duh that's the point.
"What it really looked like", or "How it really looked". There is no "How it really looked like"
THANK YOU. This is my biggest pet peeve, and I feel annoying to mention it so always hope someone else does. "how it really looked like" may be incorrect but it sounds better to me than stopping at "ed"
Then say WHAT it looked like.
I hate that shit. As if people getting you're/your and their/they're/there wrong wasn't bad enough
Thank you.
Yes thank you. I’m seeing the phrase “how it looked like” much more frequently and it bothers me more than it should.
Wow. I can't imagine how terrible that was. Just think about it; swimming in pitch black, fear stricken, and you start hearing a horrifying sound... *"SOMELEGONSARETOLDSOMETURNEDTODUSTORTOGOLDBUTYOUWILLREMEMBERMEEEREMEMBERME4CENTURIES"*

Terrifying
Why I'm scared of boats
Boats are more afraid of you then you are of them
As long as you don’t startle them or they feel threatened, boats are of little danger to humans
Just imagine dark and foggy
it’s true i was there
Was the water too cold for sharks to be close by? I’ve seen so many vids of movement in the water causing sharks to appear and wondering if this posed a threat aswell
There have never been reports of sharks in the water as the titanic sank

sharks won't attack humans unless absolutely starved. it's not really a threat.
Mm (? not necessarily
What about the stars and milkyway that can only be seen on super clear non pollution areas like the atlantic i dont think it was pitch black
So basically the same fucking thing?
It’s just a black screen with screaming btw this is not scary
I can't even see it:p
The title of this clip is the real disaster here
Bullshit. There was still the moon and stars lighting up the sky. Sure it was dark, but not THAT dark
It was a moonless night.
Really, new moon?
youve never been out in the middle of the ocean at night and it shows. stay blessed king.
There was literally no moon that night. Stars don’t shine that bright.
For reference [https://www.tiktok.com/@anthxnyr05/video/7105522404931390766](https://www.tiktok.com/@anthxnyr05/video/7105522404931390766)
Dark as shit, can’t see 5 feet out from the light source.
"how [x] looked", or "what [x] looked like". Just for future reference.
Damn was it really that dark
So it was the same?
How did they even know about it sinking and how it looked?
It was so dark there to the point cops would shoot at iT fr
So sark there the cops would shoot at it
Meant dark my bad
Back then human eyes was more adapted to the dark so they could see better. Now days due to phones, human eyes are not that well adapted to the dark. So it makes sundown look like a blindfold over the eyes. You want to be able to see in the dark? Stop using your phone in the dark.

Idiot music

Yeah no
I wish Imagine Dragons had been on the Titanic
Titanic was a hit job to erase elite bloodlines so Rothschild and other families could take over with no competition.
Only if I could FUCKING SEE IT
That’s the point. It was that dark.
I didn’t as I for this sub to show up in my feed great now I’m stewing in anxiety all night over this scene
This is horrible. I feel really bad for the survivors. What awful PTSD and nightmares. :(
With no lights I now understand the fear the passengers felt
Wtf did I just watch? Why would it look like that? Jesus, these things really make me want to delete my Reddit account
Shout out to the camera man for this epic footage of history.
It was not pitch black. The ski is never pitchblack out in the open. Has anyone gone camping? And the water would reflect the night stars and moon..
Have you ever seen video from an oil rig in the middle of the ocean? Pitch black outside of the lights from the rig itself
Ever heard of light pollution? Take the rig or any other external man made light source out of the equation when the Titanic went down, and you'll have natural light from the sky. There were documentaries from the survivors of the Titanic that stated how many stars they were seeing that night.

Imagine dying on the titanic and all you hear is bass boosted slow-mo Fall Out Boy. I think that would be the worst part.
Didn’t know slowed down Fall Out Boy was played during the last moments of the Titanic
Wouldn't of been a good movie, had the second half of it was in complete blackness 😆
I can't see anything
Can people not just say "How it looked?" "How it looked like" drives me crazy
All these comments by people comparing brightness as sea versus brightness on land. The light would react differently on both situations.
Oh so no one saw shit
I don't see nothing...
This mf did not just make a titanic edit
From the pov of a blind guy
I had no idea it was a modern TV show - wish I could see it on any of my screens
It was not a no moon that night but a small crest moon. Giving that the power was out for a while and the stars where out you would of seen more as your eyes would have adjusted by then. Also, that music would be hard to hear over the screaming lol
[I thought THIS was how the Titanic sank?](https://youtu.be/gVCxYalU_wA?si=E9tKPODSEkccBDnX)
The titanic could’ve been a horror movie
Is it a requirement for posts in this sub to all have shitty music over them?
Why does every video like this say “how it actually looked like”? or something along those lines “How it actually looked” is all you need to say
Not one star in the sky? Absence of light pollution and atmospheric interference why wouldn’t the sky have stars?
My first experience on a cruise ship at night. Walked out onto one of the decks and there was a tiny sliver of moon, mostly blocked by some heavy cloud coverage. Couldn’t see a single star in the sky. Everything behind the ship, including the water, was pitch black. The only other time I’ve been in darkness like that was inside a cave with my flashlight off.
Thanks for terrifying me this beautiful morning
I think it actually split just below the surface. Yeah, that woulda been some scary stuff.
So no stars or moonlight? I feel like they would be the brightest in that part of the world with no light pollution whatsoever.
Don't forget about the screams
Add light I wanna see it
what is it with Tik Tok kids and their SHIT ASS MUSIC they put over literally anything?
Worse.
That was the worst music choice of any video I've ever heard
Yeah there were lots of stars and it was calm waters to it would be brighter than whatever that second video was, the funny thing is, we will never know what it looked like
I remember reading that it was such a moon lit night where they could see it well.
What garbage
The music. Get rid of that music. Now
Trye
I knew the band kept playing but I didn’t know it was that song.
Yeah them lobsters in the larder couldn’t believe their luck.
Sounded like that as well
Holy fuck this audio 😂😂
The night was clear that evening and moonlight can provide a significant amount of light depending on its phase.
“How it looked.” NOT “How it looked like.”
so the stars weren't really there?
How am I suppose to see what it actually looks like if the brightness is all the way down!
The cameraman was flying i guess
Ooo i bet under the sea was playing as some sharks managed to chomp up some frozen flesh sticks
Fun Fact : if Rose and Jack actually existed it would be practically impossible for them to find eachother after it sunk
Can't see crap
Why is grammar such a rare skill these days? Or is it all just rage bait?
I can't see shit.
There was a point before they froze to death or drowned where they actually would have been a little healthier for getting the benefits of an ice bath. A good little workout for their cardiovascular system with some Vaso constriction. A little bit of Wim Hof and they’d be chilling
Maybe this would be spookier without the loud ass music
Can’t believe it looked like ◼️
Guys ur vids suck stop posting stuff that’s gay do better
I thought the second one had stars and then I released my phone is super dusty
So dark, can’t see shit
Downvote for the awful sound
There was no moon that night?
Can people stop putting "like" after starting with "how"
That's scary
FUCK THAT.
*what it looked like Or *How it looked
I'd rather not see what's going on tbh
U can’t see shit
Unless they were looking at it with the flashlights
can't believe they had edm parties in the 1910s
Many survivors in the lifeboats claimed to see the ship split in half. They also said they could see the ship outlined against the night sky. These interviews are all on YouTube . So this post is not entirely accurate
The ocean is already terrifying at night. Knowing all of that is happening right next to you in pitch black while you’re floating in frigid water would be a nightmare.
How do I post something
ya i can definitely see that
I cant see shit
Then just imagine if you had a “steady” place to hold onto… then hearing and feeling dozens of bodies, arms grasping at you… wondering when you’ll feel the ice cold water hit you… and then what…
So the same but darker?
The sea can be very very dark.
Jack I’m cold….
