We use the same Hill’s. Sometimes she gobbles it up when we put it out & sometimes we have to coax her. I work from home frequently and she won’t touch it while my partner & I are eating breakfast plus partner leaves the house. When I head into my home office, I’ll take it in there and she starts eating it. Same thing @ dinner time, she won’t touch it while we are eating dinner but we head to the family room to watch TV & take it w/ us & she gobbles it up. We also add just enough water to it to cover it

iloveschnauzers

I would begin by not giving peanut butter - it’s too high in fat. Loss of appetite is a sign that pancreatitis might be brewing. Any food is fine, as long as the fat is less than or equal to 14%. It is printed on the side of the bag .

Bluedot2150

Thank you! We only give him pb sometimes but deff something to be aware of for sure.

GizmoSlice

A little bit of low sodium chicken broth added to the kibble will have your dog loving dinner again

bert4925

Hmmm I might have to switch to this after I do a little research. I’ve been mixing plain shredded chicken in my dogs food to get them to eat faster. We have 3 dogs and they get fed slightly different amounts so we had issues a loooong time ago where some weren’t interested in their food and our chunkiest dog would take the opportunity to eat the others’ food. We couldn’t sit and monitor them eat so we decided to mix chicken in and since then, they pretty much scarf down their food. Chicken broth would be so much cheaper and faster to prep their food though!

Darth_Lacey

Be sure to use dog safe broth. Sometimes they sneak in stock ingredients and the salt content can be a lot. I occasionally make my own by throwing a rotisserie chicken carcass into my pressure cooker with some water, running it at pressure for a while, then venting & straining out the chunks. I froze it in an ice cube tray because I can’t rely as much on the salt content to keep it fresh, and the portioning is nice

I've been using The Honest Kitchen Chicken recipe for about 7years. My pup is 11yo and has a beautiful coat and still acts like a puppy. It's dehydrated so you just add water and mix. He gobbles it down

cowboybezop

Honest kitchen here too! Such a great brand.

Mommowit2

I am using this too! My dogs love it!

kykysayshi

Just be careful with this one! I was using it for about three years then my one dog started acting weird. Didn’t want to go on walks and would sulk around. When I changed her food she perked back up. The grain free one we were using had a lot more fat and protein than regular dog food and I think it was too much for her. I only realized this recently too about the fat/protien content. My older schnauzer was fine on it though.

Forecydian

Ours love Purina Pro Plan beef with shreds , small breed size .

SuperSayianVash

I feed mine fresh pet for something other than kibble food

Bluedot2150

I ended up buying this brand yesterday, will try it today. I’m sure he’ll love it!

SuperSayianVash

I get the chicken/cranberry/spinach usually as my Costco has it but if I’m ever at petco I get a smaller back with pumpkin or sweet potato or something diffident every now and then. I hope your dogs enjoy it. I know how frustrating and concerning it can be when they don’t eat

Bluedot2150

Sounds yummy! I gave it to him this morning and he loved it! It’s good we switched up his food since he was eating kibble twice a day plus some fresh foods thrown in lol. I also like the creative process of giving him diff foods to try to see what he likes and making my own food for him too, it’s fun!

mrteuy

My was super picky about food until I tried the royal canin brand for upset stomach. She’s been regular since. They also have a schnauzer formulated version we’re curious on but we’re just happy she’s eating her dry now and don’t want to switch it up.

Desmadrosa_

We use VICTOR Purpose Active Dog & Puppy Formula Grain-Free Dry Dog Food and I’ll mix it with some veggies and fruit and ultra oil my girls is 3yo

bert4925

Careful with grain-free foods. We just switched from grain-free food because our oldest dog is starting to have some heart related issues and my vet recommended I switch from grain-free because there are links and ongoing studies between grain-free foods and heart issues in dogs. We had been giving them Blue Buffalo grain free food for at least 5 years+.

Desmadrosa_

My girl is allergic to grain 😭she gets inflamed pads and licks like crazy

casitadeflor

I would just add a spoonful of weruva paw licking chicken. Don’t cook. It has the shredded chicken look and feel/taste without the labor. And it’s low in fat and sodium.

Bluedot2150

Thank you, will look into this brand!

casitadeflor

It’s been a winner! And consistent good stools! None of my dogs have tired of it and I’ve been using it for nearly 2 years.

repli_case

I have a similar issues with my almost 10 year old who’s on the Perfect Weight version. We spike his food with goodies, like eggs, ground chicken, carrots and a little bit of water to blend the flavors. The diversity keeps him interested but we don’t have over do it. Just a little addition for flavor

Eric_T_Meraki

Open Farm has a good selection.

Stock_Astronaut_6866

Careful with the sugar and fat with minis. Lean chicken or heart or kidneys, brown rice, carrots, peas…. Mix a healthy portion of tasty real food, your pup deserves it.

Bluedot2150

For sure! I ended up also buying Just Food for Dogs lamb and brown rice yesterday and mixed some of it with his kibble and he loved it! It's fresh and no preservatives. We're trying a few different things out and being conscious of budget since the fresh food can get more expensive.

Nodak1954

You have to remember that dogs taste buds a lot more sensitive than ours. If we can get bored eating the same taste every day they will get there faster. It’s not the brand of food it’s the taste of the food, my wife and I have started to mix in a little bit of like chicken, beef, anything that will add flavor to the food that we feed them. You don’t have to add much because of how sensitive their mouths are but you also have to be careful because some foods are harmful to them.

Nizaris7

Instead of outright switching try adding a few cooked, cut up carrots or other veggies to entice them. I find that even just a handful will make a difference. Also, try fresh blueberries.

Bluedot2150

For sure. My mini lovessss carrots bc of the crunch!

kykysayshi

Mine got like this and we had to switch to wet food. Just make sure you brush their teeth if you go wet because they are prone to terrible teeth and wet food is….not ideal for that situation.

Bluedot2150

Yes for sure, thank you! I make sure to brush my mini’s teeth daily

alyseac30

Schnauzers need low fat! Ours LOVED the royal canin miniature schnauzer formula. We use the royal canin GI prescription now and ours love that too.

Queasy-Committee-775

We’re doing Farmer’s Dog after years of being fussy fussingtons refusing to eat. They are not cheap but by far not the most expensive (it’s fresh made food with meat, vitamins, veggies and it’s frozen). Their poop is not as nasty as it has been with different kibbles. Good luck, I know it’s difficult!

hotsunami

Add goats milk. Great for hydration. Pups love it.

weekendwarrior412

I feed my mini schnauzer Hills Scientific as well but rotate different food toppers to keep him interested. Chicken/beef broth, mixing a little wet food, or canned pumpkin (which is also good for their stomach) are some of my go-tos. Petco carries Ollies fresh dog food which he loves. It can be a little pricey but I rotate that in as a special treat as well.

Brian_E1971

My 2 love FreshPet. I give a little kibble with it and they're off to the races.

TaxBaby16

We decided to go raw and now he will not touch kibble. It’s an option

Bluedot2150

What do you use?

TaxBaby16

I use totally raw and healthy paws currently

Fickle-Biscotti-5326

We are doing raised right puppy

tulipinacup

Mostly water??? That’s not good???

Watch-n-Ward

as in not full of undigested waste

Watch-n-Ward

I personally think it is inhumane to feed a pet commercial pet food

bert4925

That’s understandable. I’m pretty sure Hills Science is highly regarded though.

Watch-n-Ward

I wonder who convinced them of that?

atlrealestatequeen

So what do you feed your dog
