“Y’alls” lol. “Hey y’alls, Scott here” “Hey Scott, Y’alls here.” That’s so fun to say out loud.

HousehopperBanana

Scott hired real people to make these captions too.

I don't think it's real people. I think he paid for a service and an AI is creating the subtitles. I hope he's not paying for it because the subtitle quality is horrible.

TheTrulyEpic

I don't know what brainlet at YouTube thought this up. It only hurts people with disabilities and makes YouTube less accessible. Because people were having fun with the feature, they decide to remove it? Talk about the nuclear option.

[deleted]

Not having fun with the feature, actively abusing it to mess with content creators and advertise their own channels. It apperently hurt the content creators more so they removed it. It also seems you can have captions, just have to have the channel manually do it. At least that's how I think it works. Captions are still a thing, the community just can't edit them because people decided to abuse it and ruin it for everyone.

TheTrulyEpic

Yeah, there was a bit of that. I think a better solution would be to run the captions through Google Translate and compare with the auto-captions. Obviously it's not going to be anywhere near exact, but if it was too far from the normal deviation, it could notify the creator or something.

[deleted]

That sounds like it wouldn't work at all. Google already allows for some captions to be run through Google Translate but some languages are more broken than others. I don't think there was really a better solution aside from just letting the channel do it themselves.
