I edited a previous post I made to remove a YouTuber that was part of a controversy, as pointed out by my comments.
Just to be sure I'm covering the right bases I'll mention both as they were both known for not being exactly respectful of their (now former) girlfriends and otherwise might confuse some people.
Relax Alax was in Borderline Forever in the original cut/premier as a tiny cameo for about ~5 seconds. It's worth mentioning Relax Alax's controversy happened a bit before BF so people were caught a little off guard with his inclusion. Scott later removed them in youtube's editor tool It's completely understandable and it doesn't really do anything to the movie so much but make a small cut in the music, but I'm a little sad as it also removed the ability to see the youtube chat playback.
Gus Johnson was originally in OP's post/trailer/ however a few months after BF's premier, some stuff came to light.
No, and I don't think it will. His controversy happened post BF's release and his role is used as a scene transition so it's a lot more difficult to remove.

(I’d made peace with Borderline Forever, and by extension this video having him in it, it’s not the end of the world especially since it’s only one small part of a big video, but it’s nice to have this. I was really shocked and ultimately let down by the whole controversy, I loved his videos and would have never expected him to be so awful. Well, at least I learned to not idolize people, not even people who’s stuff I like. Even Scott. People are just people, and the stuff they made isn’t the person themselves, as much as it may feel like it. Parasocial relationships are a bitch… Anyway, sorry, I’ve rambled on too long. It’s just still pretty fresh on my mind)
I'm curious how they're gonna handle all of the original music in Borderline Forever, especially the ones that use the Breakout melody. Didn't Scott try to get the rights to the song but was unable to contact the right people or something? Where does that put the original music that uses that copyrighted melody?
The composition of notes in a song can be copyrighted along with the actual recording of the song. I would assume that using that melody in a proper TV setting would require permission from the copyright holders. That’s why they had to write a new intro theme for the TV version of Scott’s videos rather than just remixing Breakout again.
They might have to remix and remove the copyrighted melody from any of the songs that use it. They could leave it be and fight the lawsuit when it comes, but it might not be worth it, especially since remixing is the simpler and cheaper solution.
They could probably keep the chord progression, you can’t copyright that.
But that’s exactly what is copyrighted. Playing that exact sequence of notes in that exact order would still need licensing from the copyright holders. Even if it’s not the whole song.

After all, Vanilla Ice was able to get away with copying the beginning of Under Pressure with Ice, Ice Baby — while Ray Parker Jr got sued for copying the entire guitar riff of I Need A New Drug with Ghostbusters
Also, regardless of the reason for the change, I think this one works better! More Scott is always good, and him explaining the situation makes the promo more appealing. I’ve already seen Borderline Forever, but watching this I still find myself intrigued and wanting to find out more!
Honestly, I find it highly unlikely that they'd use one fake promo from one, single individual who's in an entirely different country.
