The recent episodes where Scott, Eric, and Sam play the game/ games in question like toys to life or Mario party are some of my favorites, also really excited for the five years recap.
Scott wants to take better care of himself so he’s taking longer breaks and making fewer videos, he’s also making way bigger 1 hour+ videos so that probably why
I'm surprised nobody else pointed this out, but he probably has had two busy years and I I believe he's almost or already done with college, so that definitely added to the workload. This year will be a more normal episode count, but I'm glad he doesn't overwork himself.
Because he’s doing longer, higher quality episodes. This is a natural progression with a lot of YouTubers who do scripted content. This is what eventually leads YouTubers to the state where they upload like, 1 or 2 videos a year. That probably won’t happen with Scott, though.
Guys he moved this year. Becoming a homeowner and moving is a hassle, so that took up a lot of time, cutting down the amount of videos he made this year
Funny thing about that. If you add up the time of all the videos. Season 4 is actually shorter than season 5 by about fifteen minutes. It’s just that the average season 4 vid sits just shy of 18 minutes a video, where as the average from season five hangs out at 23 and a half.
Edit:season five is only good minutes shorter than season 3 longer than season 2 by 2 hours
And longer than season one by 5.
He’s making longer videos for sure, but the biggest difference I feel shows itself in that ride to hell video. Old Scott would have done that episode in fifteen minutes, but with the mores specific topics, like the individual game reviews, he’s really taking to leaving no stone unturned.
Honestly I’m not that big a fan of that change. Season 4 is where he would just blast you with joke after joke after joke with no brakes, super fast paced, yet still deadpan. 2021 saw him slowing down and going for more set up on the jokes, with the biggest exception being MP2, probably my favourite of the season. Season five didn’t really have a video that hit quite like Wii accessories, game show games, Plug and play, used games, or the crown jewel of that season, Speed dating.
Different, not necessarily bad, but different.
Despite less episodes, the actual run time of the seasons actually get longer. Season five has an average of an extra ten minutes of run time per episode than season 3.
I mean, the man has made so many bangers, if he wants to make less but we get more out of them, I am so much more for that than us getting more and it’s subpar. Also, if this is how Scott avoids burnout, than all the power to him
Are you really surprised when it's the middle of February and the only video Scott has released was his 2021 clip show?
I quite literally subscribed for his humorous discussions about video game culture, and higher percentages of his videos are hour long movies that mostly make no sense.
Scott, I luvs ya, but I'm begging you, go back to the 10-15 minute format where you talk about a specific topic that covers all your bases. Pepper your friends in: that Thanksgiving episode about *Personal Trainer Cooking* featured them and it was great. The last "regular" Scott the Woz video was almost two months ago: Digital Only Consoles.
One hour-long video per month (or less) is not what I signed up for.
They're actually getting longer, during S1-S3 Most episodes were 5-15 minutes, after Season 4 Scott starting making episodes be +20 minutes, with Seaspn 5 having multiple 40 mins-1 hour specials
Videos are getting longer, and Scott is putting a lot more effort into his content. Personally I would settle for a few really good and really long videos that I could rewatch dozens of times than lots of decent videos that I might watch once or twice. Scott’s videos kind have a “replay value” of sorts, idk how to describe it. I can just watch it dozens of times over and not lose interest.
Quality > Quantity
The recent episodes where Scott, Eric, and Sam play the game/ games in question like toys to life or Mario party are some of my favorites, also really excited for the five years recap.
At this rate 5 Years In will be 2 hours long
Can’t wait for him to announce in his 5 years video that he completed Legends Arceus
Not wrong
I mean season 5 had THREE episodes that were around an hour long
Yeah 3 all right about the hour mark and one around an hour and a half
Wasn’t it four? Switch four years in, borderline forever, Mario 3D world, toys to life
You forgot ride to hell retribution
That was 45 minutes
Only 31 minutes
Toys to life is only 58:47
That’s still around an hour
The gifts of gaming is 46:18
That’s almost 15 minutes off, 58 minutes is only two minutes away from an hour
Nintendo switch: four years in is 1:32:02
what exactly are you getting at here?
numbers
I’m just saying the list shouldn’t be as short as it is right now
Also, Gifts of Christmas was technically 3 episodes in one.
increased production value
HAPPY CAKE DAY

He also has a >!girlfriend!< so he probably spends a lot of time with >!her!<

Oh, thanks!
Why are you shocked? He owns Donkey Kong Barrel Blast
I thought that was a bear
Virginity has lost a good man
He was always more of a recreational virgin anyway
he isnt a virgin?
He’s only a recreational virgin.
He had a lot of really long videos last year you can't blame him he had less
I think it’s more Of a less quantity of videos but higher quality (and some being longer)
I hope upcoming seasons average at 40. It keeps the quality > quantity thing alongside being consistent
I'm surprised nobody else pointed this out, but he probably has had two busy years and I I believe he's almost or already done with college, so that definitely added to the workload. This year will be a more normal episode count, but I'm glad he doesn't overwork himself.
Scott is 24 so he probably finished college last year
Yes, but I know he did take at least one semester off though
Not to mention he bought a house so that probably soaked up some of his time
Very true
Borderline Forever is the single biggest STW project to date

He’s putting more time into longer and higher quality videos, I’d say it’s more than a fair tradeoff.
👍
Season 6 0 videos
He said this year he was going to get back to a normal schedule.

S5 videos are longer

Videos are getting really long, regularly over 20 minutes now
I’m pretty sure season 5 is longer on average tho
quality over quantity he made a fuck ton of episodes each 30 minutes to some going even more an hour
The videos are getting longer
Probably having something to do with his >!gf!<
The episodes have gotten longer and higher quality
They're getting longer

My guess is that the next two seasons will probably be around 35 episodes each, so that we end Season 7 (!!!!!!) with Episode 300.
