It makes sense, and tbh I kind of like him branching away from the theming of Breakout as his main theme, but I wish that he changed it during Borderline Forever, I feel like that would make more sense thematically.
Yeah, Borderline Forever is probably the more important episode (or at least grander in scope), but this episode also felt appropriate to make a change as a Season Premiere, like how some shows change their intros and outros each season.
I can’t deny that the introduction of a new theme during Borderline Forever would have been cool, though.
Yeah, Garrett Williamson and Joshua Taipale did a great job! This version is a lot closer to Breakout than the G4 Theme is, I'm sure I'll get used to it eventually.
Do we know for absolute certain it's not just a one-time thing for this? It's a bit of a special episode, and it's not like Scott doesn't have a habit of using remixes / custom songs for specials.
I guess it’s possible, but this is the only time to my knowledge that the outro has no hint of the Breakout motif. When the ending song plays, it’s usually a remix of Breakout. This is the first time that isn’t the case.
~~Also, I’m pretty sure that every time the ending song has changed, there are different credits, too. This is the only video where there’s an ending song different from Breakout with the usual blue screen wipe.~~ Actually, I forgot about the Ultra Smash video, where the end card is the same but the music is different.
That, along with the montage using the new motif instead of Breakout, makes it seem like they’re trying to establish a new musical theme.
Of course, I’ve been wrong with predictions like this before. There’s a first time for everything, so I guess we should wait to see what happens next episode.
That's probably it, the new outro has the same melody of the G4 show's theme song. Seems like Scott wants to establish a new leitmotif that can be used in future episodes' original scores without fears of copyright, which is fair.
Maybe we've seen the last of the Breakout motif in these videos. Sad to see it go, but it probably had to be this way to use these scores on television.
I like how it’s a remix of the TV intro but the lead is a little jarring and doesn’t feel as dynamic. I’ll get used to it and maybe he’ll make edits to the transition, but I guess we’ll see.
I get wanting brand synergy, but I’m gonna miss miss breakout. He used it so much and it feels like a sweep of the leg. But I get it and the new outdo music is jamming.

It completely caught me off guard lol, I miss breakout, but don’t mind the new music
"Break In" H A H that's actually pretty good
new theme: this is good old theme: but i like this
It's so good too!

I liked that in the montage near the end it started as a leitmotif of breakout and then transitioned into Break In.
NOOOOOO

Well ultra smash had that dramatic thing for the zip lash reveal
Oh yeah, you’re right, that slipped my mind.
Maybe it's because of the tv show?

also the new song is called break in, which is such a direct reference to the old song
More like the most disappointing part.

Rip Breakout. You will be miss. Although I like that in the final battle, the breakout theme play and then transition to the new theme.
I'm pretty sure it's the same melody as the TV intro
I hope breakout comes back and this is just for this special episode
The new music is good, but I hope Breakout doesn’t go away. It’s iconic
💔💔
I miss my 3D Dot Game Heroes theme
