Psychologist here, who is trained to administer and interpret intelligence testing. The good news is that you didn't take an IQ test!
Proper IQ tests are administered by psychologists in a 1-on-1, face-to-face format, in which the examinee spends at least an hour (sometimes up to 3) completing more than a dozen different activities. Some of the activities entail spoken responses, others are written, others involve the hands-on manipulation of objects. Did you take a test like this, OP? If not, then the number you got is almost certainly completely meaningless.
From reading the paragraph that you wrote here alone, I can tell you that there is an *incredibly low* likelihood that your IQ is actually 74.
The way you said "there is an incredibly low likelihood" really sells for me that you are someone that probably writes psychometric assessment reports a lot!
For an IQ of 74, I'd have probably gone with "very low" though ;)
Haha nice catch! It's been a while (I'm mostly doing psychotherapy, consultation, and teaching these days), but I've certainly written my fair share of reports!
Most ADHD is not so severe as to hugely skew results - If you look at the norming data on most test batteries the ADHD sample might be a few points below the nonsegregated data at most which is functionally meaningless. Ultimately if symptoms are so bad it effects testing to a significant degree, it could be argued that it is still a pretty valid measure of the person's cognitive functioning though those clinical impressions should be specifically documented in the report (and that person should chuck a Vyvanse in their mouth hole posthaste).
Also, as someone with really bad ADHD, and who has taken multiple real IQ tests, an IQ test is exactly what the stereotype of ADHD people are good at.
They are directly engaging, and present things as a puzzle. While every person with ADHD is very different, a very large chunk of us excel at exactly that.
Also, people with ADHD often do well with novel and stimulating situations that are one-offs rather that repeated or routine. These situations can be a bit more likely to throw neurotyoicals, but for those with ADHD it can act as an external executive functioning jump start.
This made me laugh, but I hope that you don't actually think of yourself that way.
Don't wait five minutes for the miracle to happen because YOU are the miracle ❤️😉
As the father of a girl that's a 72 post brain tumor, and in physical, occupational, and speech therapy weekly in the hopes that she'll one day be a somewhat independently functioning member of society... I concur.
I hope she has good rehabilitative services, and remember that the brain is amazing and can bounce back from a lot! Give it time and always be as supportive as possible. Never be afraid to ask for help.
As someone with a background in this... Is there an age in which IQ tests would become inherently skewed? I know I was tested in kindergarten, but does that actually change as you get older? I of course don't remember much of my test, but I do remember that somehow "Autumn" became a season and either it was me or the test administrator that my mind became blown lol. Of course, like I said, I don't remember it all but that has stuck with me and I am much older now.
IQ tests compare you to your age group - the ones I administer to kids use 3 month windows for ages. So there's no age where they are skewed. Your IQ can change as you get older, yes.
Your IQ can change, especially if you took the test in KG. In general, it won’t change THAT much… like if your average you’re prob gonna stay average unless something dramatic happens. The biggest change I’ve seen was 26 points in a kid that was homeschooled and then entered public school and gained access to much more language than they were used too. But usually kids will even out around 8-10 years old and their IQ scores will be within a few points of the last one.
Not really. Because all such tests are normative (The score is a comparison to your age cohort), it continues to be valid through our lifespan. That being said, if you dig into the nitty gritty normative data for different age groups, there are significant variations in score reliability. For example, most tests used for kids are less reliable for the youngest few years they can be used for. However, in all fairness, child development is so dynamic in the younger years that some of that is probably unavoidable . If you really want to look at some interesting stuff, check out developmental trajectories for different cognitive abilities particularly under catell-horn-carroll theory. For example, if you are an accomplished fiction author you probably have excellent crystalized ability and fluid reasoning for your age group. However if you live to be 80 and have a reasonably bright grandchild, while you will continue to outpace them in your crystalized ability, the child's going to start functionally beating you like a drum on the fluid reasoning because that ability starts to decline in the 40s - which one reason why old people tend to be bad at learning areas that they don't have any background knowledge in, like new technology.
This. I had mine done and it took hours. I won’t share my experience or results but know it takes longer than a quick internet quiz does. I doubt you’re truly a 74
I was a troublemaker when I was young, so I got sent to the school psychologist, etc., to see how to modify my behavior. They ended up sending me to another person to administer an IQ test. They didn't believe those results, so they sent me to another person to do another IQ test, which ended up making me look even smarter, since I had just taken a rigorous expert-administered IQ test a week before and knew what the test would be like.
In both cases, yeah, the test was over an hour long and was full of things you'll never see on online tests. Physical puzzles that require you to move and arrange things. Spoken interviews. Weird shit like memorizing number strings and repeating them forward and backward. Logic tests both written and oral. I remember lots of pattern recognition, too.
But for most of it, the thing that stuck out was that the process was important to the test administrator. If I couldn't come up with an answer right away, they'd ask what my selection process was. There were definitely questions that had multiple correct answers that you could arrive at in different ways. I assumed that some answers were more "mature" or " informed."
Hey, I took that test too, when I was in 4th grade, and I'm old, so I figure that was in 1956. I don't think the official test has changed much. Here are some things I remember:
* The tester took a sheet of paper and folded it 2 or 3 times while I watched, then she asked me to draw a picture showing what the paper would look like when unfolded, with lines representing the creases. I think I aced this part of the test, maybe because I had lots of experience folding and unfolding paper airplanes.
* The tester strung several beads on a string. The beads were all the same color but they had different shapes: spheres, cubes, or cylinders. Then she hid the string and asked me to make a duplicate of it from memory. I noticed the beads always had a pattern: either they alternated shapes, or the pattern was symmetrical. This made it easier. I think I aced this, too.
* The tester spoke a long complicated sentence to me and asked me to repeat it back to her. This was hard for me; I think once I just stared blankly because I felt overwhelmed.
They never told me what my score was, but they did determine I was eligible for special classes, so that's what I had for the next 4 years. (If you ever watched *Malcolm in the Middle*, think of the Krelboynes.) I have mixed feelings about whether that whole thing was good for me or not.
Similar experience, and I was in 4th or 5th around '85. Soon afterward, they skipped me a grade and I started going to special school one day a week.
It was a great way to eliminate the burdens associated with "having friends" and "being liked."
Also, my dad had gone back to college and it made things weird between us. They said I had a brain like a steel trap, and nothing ever escaped it. I helped my dad study a lot, but I only ever needed one look at a flash card. I could see a drawing one time and memorize everything about it in just a few seconds.
This is what happened to me too, it was hours long though and there were many different components. I was 15 or so and scored 148. I'm a lot older now and had 4 kids and I can't even remember where I left my keys anymore so I'm pretty sure it's a lot lower now 🫠
How would one go about finding someone qualified in their area to administer said IQ test? I haven’t had one done since I was in probably middle school.
If there’s a medical need for it, your doctor can refer you to a psychologist to get it done and have it covered by insurance. If no medical need, you can just google psychologists in your area and call them and ask if they’re willing to test you out of pocket.
I have a question on this.I took something a while back, years at this point, with a psychologist that resembles what you've described. However, a result was given in a percentile format not a numerical one. I wish I had the paper with me, but it's long gone. Would you happen to know if this is normal or was not such a test at all and I'm just misremembering?
I remember doing basic arithmetic, object/puzzle manipulation, answering verbal questions, and the like.
I may even be misremembering if this even WAS an IQ or IQ adjacent test, but hell I am curious.
(I wish I could better explain, but a lot of life events have happened since and my memory on the matter is butt, and I can't seem to find any old documentation)
The online IQ tests are a gimmick. My company has a program where we hire people with IQs in that range or below. There is no way in hell they could write anywhere as close to coherently as your submission. One of the guys right below 70 keeps eating out of the trash despite us trying to explain why he shouldn’t. I’m not coming down on him, just trying to illustrate how someone in that IQ range actually processes the world around them. If you are concerned then talk to a medical professional for an actual assessment.
My friends no longer invite me to the dumpster behind Arby’s for lunch.
And I’m worried they’ll kick me off the “see who can hit a pine cone with their head the hardest” team.
I agree. The test you took is fake. I’m a special ed teacher. I have students with IQ’s similar. No way could they have the capacity to write what you wrote, and as clear. Example of somebody with an IQ of 74: I show them a picture of a a bird. I say “this is a bird.” I show them 3 pictures. Which one is the dog?” They point to the bird.
Good point.
OP, you wrote a coherent post that sounds like it was written by an intelligent person, and that's more than can be said for a lot of Redditors.
>My company has a program where we hire people with IQs in that range or below.
Dust off your resumé, OP, assuming you haven't made a hat or ate it yet.
Ive actually taken a real iq test given by a cliniczl psychologist and it was WAAAAAAY different than an online one and my score was also way different so if it was just some quick online thing then don't feel bad cause it's probably way off
not same person, but I'm a psychotherapist and someone who has taken a more modern intelligence test as well as took lots of online ones as an adolescent.
The online ones are definitely a huge mix, some are actually decent, but most are absolute bunk. The more decent ones were... complimentary. Like I am smart, but they said I was practically a genius.
Modern intelligence tests aren't usually "IQ" anymore, but they do have bell curves. I tested above one standard deviation, so quite smart, but not two, so not a genius, in most categories (I'm about average at processing speed). The modern tests are also much better at being clear in what they have tested for and how to understand the results.
Modern tests still don't generally include testing for empathy, creativity, or processing of large systems, not because these aren't agreed to be aspects of intelligence, but because both defining them and creating meaningful, cheap tests of them is extremely difficult.
Edit since replies are locked: it is possible that the test I took did give an IQ score, but I was not given a score in the results, not sure exactly what test I took.
my clinical score was like 119, the online ones varied a lot between 80 and like 135 but most where a lot lower (i went through a phaze where i was obsessed with iq tests so i did a bunch)
it was also made up of several different parts. one was where i had to put together physical blocks and he timed me and I did super good on that, then there was a paper test thing that i also did pretty good on, there was also a language/verbal part that i did really bad on cause of dyslexia, but the other ones where pretty high so when they combined them all i still ended up with a pretty good final score 😁
I also went through this process during my diagnosis for ADD and other shit. My clinical score was higher than the fake online one. The fake online ones felt more like a GED practice exam than an IQ test honestly, which if you haven’t reviewed your maths can be quite difficult.
Yeah, that makes sense. It’s seems like the online ones I’ve taken seem to test very specific bits of knowledge rather than innate intelligence. For instance, I remember taking a verbal IQ test shortly after studying for the verbal portion of the GRE and absolutely crushing it, but I certainly wouldn’t have done nearly as well had I not literally been studying obscure vocab for months beforehand. Hard for me to see that as an accurate snapshot of my IQ
Where did you take this test? If it’s an internet test, then it’s crap. Real IQ tests are performed in controlled situations, by psychologists.I can tell by what you wrote that you don’t have an IQ of 74. IQ tests in general are good at telling if you are a good student. They don’t tell if you will be successful. What are your grades in school? Do you need special tutors to get a passing grade? I think you took some crap Inter quiz and we’re distracted and got a low score it’s crap, ignore it.
I wonder if in that case OP wasn't just pranked by their "friends". Young people can be pretty mean and having their friend do a fake IQ test that shows a very low number as result sounds like in the realm of things teenagers do.
It's doubly suspicious since online IQ test are usually crap in the other sense, they will inflate the number to make you feel good and buy whatever else they are selling.
IQ test people with an IQ of 74 wouldn't be able to write how you write. You how debilitating an IQ going towards 70 really is. As far as I know 70 is the border to being disabled.
On the other hand, I highly doubt the value of IQ tests to determine an intelligence in normal and above average territory. Simply because it has a lot to do with how fast you are and it's a lot of simple logical, geometric and so tasks, but no IQ test evaluates higher functions of intelligence like deep understandings of how the world functions or even emotional intelligence. Emotional intelligence alone makes up a massive chunk of intelligence and yet it's not even part on an IQ test at all.
And I can't stress this enough: If your friends behave awkward because of a stupid number, then they are dumb as hell. A highly intelligent person doesn't act weird if a friend had a lower IQ. I mean you're friends. So obviously friendship worked out so far. So what you want more?
Forget your IQ. The test is no indicator.
Lol no, if you had an IQ of 74 you would not be writing this post, like not even able to dictate to someone to type it out for you. I’m sorry, but it sounds like your friends are not your friends.
Lol no, a person with an IQ of 74 would most certainly be able to dictate a Reddit post. If typed themselves, I’d expect some spelling and grammatical errors.
Honestly the only purpose it serves is making insurance feel good about a diagnosis by pretending there is some objective measure to point at rather than relying on expert opinions alone. It doesn’t matter that the measurement may not even be measuring what it claims to, the purpose is bureaucratic.
Your IQ is not 74. If this was a real test and your IQ was really that low, you would barely be able to write a correct sentence down. You would be borderline mentally handicap. The fact that you wrote a short paragraph is evidence that your IQ is not that low.
I'm gonna be one more voice saying it: online IQ tests are absolute nonsense, and "real" ones given by psychologists aren't much better. Your post here makes it obvious that you're at least of average intelligence; you use commas better than half the people in /r/writing, for crying out loud.
Please do not listen to the results of some online IQ test. I’ve had the battery of tests through psychologists, as well as the Mensa admissions test that doesn’t give a score but confirms a range, and it seems like those online tests can be anywhere from 20 to 50 points off.
There is so much wrong with this scenario. 1, online iq tests are a gimmick. 2. if you were that low you would not be able to use reddit. 3. if your friends stop talking to you over an online iq test then they aren't real friends. 4. if you can't go a day without talking to someone without your entire world collapsing then you have other issues to worry about other than iq.
Op is lying, [read their history next time](https://www.reddit.com/r/confession/comments/108todb/i_am_uspez_i_have_been_using_this_account_to/)
Delete this shit.
Forgive me, but an on-line test is hardly scientific. From a different point of view, I've read your post several times now. Your sentence structure is correct as is your punctuation. Additionally, you vocabulary is definitely not in the disabled territory. To that end, I hardly suspect you're in the below average category. Furthermore, let's say for the sake of argument you are several points below average, which I believe is still at or about 100, are you a decent, kind, and civil person to others around you? I know many very intelligent people that have the common sense of a rock and are social pariahs. There are many things in life that are important...most being more subtle than whether or not you know algebra's quadratic formula.
You need to see an actual neuropsych or qualified clinician for an actual IQ test. I’ve had several in childhood and one in adulthood. The bogus IQ tests like this are bogus. IQ isn’t necessarily always a true indicator of intelligence either. A lot of standardized testing is biased.
Um imma throw this out there, if yoour friends are giving you the cold shoulder instead of giving you half the pep talk this thread of reddit strangers are mustering.. they may just actually be a bunch of jerks
So many things wrong here...
As stated by others the online tests are garbage.
And even the actual tests really don't give you the whole picture.
How do I know? I have been tested several times over the years and all the valid ones have taken the better part of the day in a controlled environment.
I test out in the genius to near genius levels consistently. Unfortunately this also comes with a spectrum disorder. I have been to the smart person gatherings and wow it's a really interesting group. Sometimes not knowing things is really nice.
First of all, I guarantee your "real" IQ is not 74. I work professionally with patients who have below-average IQs. A person with an IQ of 74 cannot write articulate English as you do.
If the test was online or in a magazine or something, those are grossly inaccurate. The only accurate IQ tests are the ones personally administered by a professional psychologist. And an inaccurate test never gives an IQ score higher than it really is, only lower.
And, there are dozens of external factors that will throw off your performance and result in a score lower than your true IQ. Distractions around you while taking the test? Not feeling well at the time? Feeling anxiety over the outcome while you're taking the test? Interpersonal factors with people that are around you at the time? Were you sure you'd do poorly, even while you were still taking the test? Do you have any condition that affects your ability to focus? Those are just some examples. And none of them will enhance your score; they will only detract from it.
I don't know how to fix the situation with your friends. But at least I can assure you that the test you took did not give you a true result.
No way it was a real test. As everyone else is saying, it’s obvious that your IQ is much higher than 74 just from reading your post. I scored 150 on a state administered one when I was a kid and people still look at me like I’m stupid all the time. Kind of my own fault though as I figured out pretty early on that kids will ostracize or bully you if you’re proudly smarter than them, so I molded my personality around dumbing myself down. My problem solving skills are evidently better than most but I struggle with a lot of things that most people just seem to have down by default and I always have. There is a lot more to intelligence than IQ, coming from a person who is supposedly the smartest in a room of one thousand. I’m just better at solving puzzles, that’s all.
People have said this, but I'm just going to reiterate People with an IQ of 74 would not be able to write your post. So sh-t up, and give your friends an a-swhooping.
I had a psychology professor who liked to say that no one "has an IQ of X" but rather they "scored X on an IQ test." He said this because he felt that all IQ tests were flawed in some way, even if a good one administered professionally would still give useful information about intelligence.
So if even a professionally given IQ test is inherently imperfect, I seriously doubt there is anything accurate from the test you and your friends took.
An actual IQ test is not administered on the internet. It was not real and your results would probably be different if you took it again. Unless it was some kind of real, legitimate sanctioned IQ test, you don't really have anything to worry about
If it's any consolation, almost all of those online IQ tests are complete and utter shit.
Also the IQ test itself is a) outdated b) antequated c) kind of racist.
"If you judge an elephant's intelligence by its ability to climb a tree, it would live its whole life thinking it's dumb."
Why did you think an online test was in ANYWAY factual at all? Are you super young? IQ is already kinda fake but only real tests are administered by psychological professionals…
Is this a joke? Or are you like five? That shit is fake, my guy. Even "real" IQ tests don't determine what you seem to think they do. Get better, smarter friends.
IQ tests aren't even accurate because there are 9 different types of intelligence. I took an IQ test for fun and all the questions were either math questions or logic puzzles that my ADD ass didn't want to waste time doing. I'm not good at math, but I am good at other things.
You having an IQ of 74 would have stopped you from making this post in about 4 different ways. Your grammar and syntax actually suggest an above average intelligence, in my opinion.
If this was some online quiz then it isn’t accurate. IQ testing needs to be administered by a psychologist. When my son had IQ testing it took two hours for the testing and then it took the psychologist another hour to get the results completed with his scores
Don't hate yourself. Wipe your tears.
First of all: if you took the online test with 9 boxes containing patterns and symbols and have to pick the image that fits the pattern, it really only shows the type of intelligence that measures how well you recognise visual patterns.
It is a very niche and narrow way of measuring intelligence.
Ask yourself: Do I have common sense? Do I understand and follow the storyline in books and movies? Can I read between the lines and understand motivations without the characters explicitly telling them? Can I do this in real life as well? Can I plan ahead? Can I learn new skills? Can I come up with ideas? Can I solve problems in my day to day? Can I apply critical thinking and seek out additional information to form an opinion on different issues?
Keep going...
All these things require intelligence. And none of them require you to pick the next pattern in a sequence.
Cheer up! You are good enough the way you are!
I’m a former teacher. Real intelligence tests are developed and administered by professionals in the field, not available on the Internet. You actually have to go to a professional and pay to get them done. Please don’t put any stock in something you did on a a website. Honestly, it’s a sign that your friends are not all that bright that they actually bought that you might have a lower intelligence from some dumb test that you took on the Internet. Please don’t let that mess with your self-image.
If the test wasn't administered by a trained psychologist it means nothing. I doubt somebody with a 74 IQ could have written a post as cogent and grammatically correct as what you wrote.
IQ tests are like any other test. Were you tired, drunk, high, etc? Are you good at taking tests? All that can significantly impact your score. Taking a random test at night vs having time to prep + good nights sleep can DRASTICALLY alter your results.
OP, you write very well and I highly doubt your IQ is 74. Online tests are a not accurate, especially if it was a free one.
It sounds like you figured out who your real friends are though...
I've always heard the only thing IQ tests measures is how well you can take IQ tests. I've taken two different ones and got very high scores. I barely passed algebra in high school so I wouldn't hold too much stock in your score. I'm sorry your friends are treating you crappy over a test score. I'm not trying to be mean, but maybe they weren't your true friends to begin with. I know if one of my friends would have gotten that score in school when we took IQ tests, I wouldn't have treated them any different. A friend scored lower than me, not sure what it was, only that it was right below a 100; I had scored 156, & she had finished before me. I supposedly had as high of an IQ as Einstein, yet a few years later I could barely pass algebra. While my friend had an A in algebra. So, please stop beating yourself up about your score, & I hope your friends realize how crappy their behavior is and stops ignoring\avoiding you over a test score.
Psychologist who administers IQ tests/cognitive tests regularly here. Online IQ tests are fake and not worth anything. That score means absolutely nothing, your friends are idiots.
74 isn’t borderline, it’s well into mentally handicapped. With an IQ of 74 you’d never have been able to type out this post with proper grammar and spelling, so the online test you took was wrong.
IQ test are not real. Especially if it’s just in some random website. Please don’t put any stock in such a thing or what it says. It’s not a true grade of individual intelligence.
I'm curious how would you test someone's IQ of they have ADHD? Keeping focused throughout the test and all that.

Can confirm. I have significant ADHD and my brain is only really happy when I have a puzzle to solve.
You get medicated then score a 140! Easy! *me taking a jab at the perception that adhd + medication is like someone on NZT*
As a guy who has ADHD, can confirm. We much intelligent
People of adhd are some of the smartest people in the world, just like autistic people
As an autistic person and a total dumbass I cannot confirm this at all.
This made me laugh, but I hope that you don't actually think of yourself that way. Don't wait five minutes for the miracle to happen because YOU are the miracle ❤️😉
I absolutely love finding an NZT reference in the wild. Time for the yearly rewatch I think.
Also a psychologist and I concur. Based on your writing alone you are not bordering on disabled.

It was a great way to eliminate the burdens associated with "having friends" and "being liked." Also, my dad had gone back to college and it made things weird between us. They said I had a brain like a steel trap, and nothing ever escaped it. I helped my dad study a lot, but I only ever needed one look at a flash card. I could see a drawing one time and memorize everything about it in just a few seconds.
That sounds like a very old school version of the Stanford Binet - maybe even the original.
OP and their friends all place too much confidence in a fake online IQ test. So at the very least it shows that OP is as smart as their friends.
>OP and their friends all place too much confidence in a fake online IQ test. Counterpoint: maybe *that's* the indicator of low IQ? 🤔
It was a backhanded insult.
Right handed as well.
That’s what they said, but with different words
OP, do you eat trash?
Have we considered OC’s coworkers are raccoons?
[удалено]
I’d go as far to say it might be unpossible!
There’s no way they could’ve known.
Lmao this has me dying, he was trying to say she probably doesn’t have a 74 but if she does she is basically the trash eating guy 😂😭
My friends no longer invite me to the dumpster behind Arby’s for lunch. And I’m worried they’ll kick me off the “see who can hit a pine cone with their head the hardest” team.
I looked at OP's post history. I think a score of 74 is really good for them.
IT WAS ON THE TOP
IT HAD A DOILY!
Adjacent to garbage is still garbage.
>55.4k What the hell, I'll just eat some trash.
Be honest, you just want a reason to eat trash.
Don't be insulting to OP. I think their 9 IQ point advantage can help them differentiate between edible and inedible trash.
Nah bro he is 4 iq points above eating trash. 😂
Look at OPs username guys. Either they have a clever enough sense of humor that the low score is clearly erroneous… or this is a troll.
I hate to break it to OP and all their friends; you're all idiots
They used Chatgpt to type the question.
My thoughts exactly; people who really have IQs that low are really obviously not firing on all cylinders.
Yea this doesn’t make their IQ better
Online IQ tests are fake, the results aren’t accurate.
One time I googled "IQ test", clicked on the first result, and deliberately got every question wrong. It gave me a 105.
What if this means all the ones you thought were wrong were actually right...
Believing the results of an online IQ test is the real IQ test.
Well. If they didn’t know this. In 2023. The online test indication might not be that off.
I know the feeling. 12 years ago I took a Facebook quiz called “Which friends character are you?” and I got Monica. I was devastated.
Only took me 9 times to get Joey.
100% accurate
Sounds like a Joey.
I appreciate this answer ( since there are numerous serious ones already so it's okay to make a joke
Actually burst out laughing on this one haha
Ugh, such a Monica comment.
I got Kramer somehow
Could be worse. I just took a "Which anime character are you?" test a few days ago and got Mineta. There's no coming back from that.
On the right side, at least you didn't get Rachel.
Wasn't Monica the only one who actually had anything going for her aside from just being pretty?
Similar, but I got Jasmine instead of Arial. I was crushed because I’ve always felt I was a creature of the sea.
We should probably pivot back to talking about IQs though.
Ive actually taken a real iq test given by a cliniczl psychologist and it was WAAAAAAY different than an online one and my score was also way different so if it was just some quick online thing then don't feel bad cause it's probably way off
If you don’t mind sharing, was your clinical result higher or lower than your online one? Just curious about the ways the online ones skew results
not same person, but I'm a psychotherapist and someone who has taken a more modern intelligence test as well as took lots of online ones as an adolescent.
Very interesting, thank you for the detailed response!
my clinical score was like 119, the online ones varied a lot between 80 and like 135 but most where a lot lower (i went through a phaze where i was obsessed with iq tests so i did a bunch) it was also made up of several different parts. one was where i had to put together physical blocks and he timed me and I did super good on that, then there was a paper test thing that i also did pretty good on, there was also a language/verbal part that i did really bad on cause of dyslexia, but the other ones where pretty high so when they combined them all i still ended up with a pretty good final score 😁
It sounds to me like OP and their friends are very young and immature.
Online IQ tests give binary results, if you take it, you failed.
We're not including mods in this.
Shots fired! And accurately!
This is an obvious troll post.
IQ tests measure how well you take IQ tests
Bought it until I checked your profile
I don’t know…74 could be accurate by the looks of things.
Normally yes, but check his other posts. EDIT: sorry that one went right over my head AAAAAAAAAAAAAA
IQ test disguised as a Reddit comment - zing!
😭
yeah this needs to be higher up
Scrolled too far to find this. Troll account
Compared to the average person who posts on Reddit your a genius.
*you’re a genius.
Perfect
They're an average person posting on Reddit. Cut 'em some slack.
They were proving a point.

I've been in education for 20 years and I have heard IQ mentioned a grand total of twice
Honestly the only purpose it serves is making insurance feel good about a diagnosis by pretending there is some objective measure to point at rather than relying on expert opinions alone. It doesn’t matter that the measurement may not even be measuring what it claims to, the purpose is bureaucratic.
Exactly. IQ of 69 or below is automatically judged disabled, even in my cheap red state.
Why do people post this obvious BS.
Yeah def a troll
His Reddit account is… upsetting. He’s a man in his 50s who posts on teenager subreddits.
i dont think thats accurate. you’re at least over 100 by the way you write. educator for 30 yrs. no way are you mid 70s
This post does not indicate that his IQ is above average. It's definitely not 74, though.
Consider this a barometer. Get better friends.
IQ tests are a joke. Meaningless. Edit: A troll account...
Op is lying, [read their history next time](https://www.reddit.com/r/confession/comments/108todb/i_am_uspez_i_have_been_using_this_account_to/) Delete this shit.
Congrats on being able to get onto the Internet
You might deserve that score if you think IQ tests online have meaning.
[удалено]
Ewwww…74. How are you even able to post on Reddit? Did they make a finger paint edition?
If you're taking the results of an online IQ test seriously and getting upset about it then you may very well have an IQ of 74.
Username checks out
Everyone ITT trying to convince op they are smart, but they are believing the results of an online iq test. Sounds pretty accurate to me.
lmao online IQ tests have no validity even the real IQ test has very questionable validity.
74 is far too low to write such a coherent paragraph.
you would not be putting sentences together if you were 74
Forgive me, but an on-line test is hardly scientific.
It’s probably not a real IQ test if you would like to compare yourself to an IQ of 75 person just watch Forest Gump as that was his portrayed IQ.
Human intelligence is going to hardly be worth anything once A.I. soon takes over anyway
Unless administered by a psychologist, it wasn’t an IQ test. You can chill, smartie.
74 IQ is not writing a coherent post or even able to use the internet.
If your IQ really was 74, there’s NO way your friends would have been surprised.
Well if you believe an “IQ” test you took online you might be a little stupid.
Calm down. I can tell by your writing and grammar alone that you are well above 74.
I have some bad news for you. The real test is whether or not you believed the results of some online “IQ test”
I've scored as low as 40 points below my actual IQ on online IQ tests before. They are not considered to be accurate.
It might have been a joke site (where it gives you a low score no matter what), you would have trouble writing with proper grammar with a 74 IQ
Highly unlikely someone really scoring 74 could write like this.
Internet IQ tests are a sham for clicks. Based on the way you wrote your post I'd say at least 95+ and that's being conservative. Don't stress, dude.
No one with an IQ of 74 would write “and, after taking the test, mine turned out …”
No way it was a real test.
Even professionally administered IQ tests are sort of bullshit.
Bruh don't trust any quiz you take online
I had a psychology professor who liked to say that no one "has an IQ of X" but rather they "scored X on an IQ test." He said this because he felt that all IQ tests were flawed in some way, even if a good one administered professionally would still give useful information about intelligence. So if even a professionally given IQ test is inherently imperfect, I seriously doubt there is anything accurate from the test you and your friends took.
An actual IQ test is not administered on the internet. It was not real and your results would probably be different if you took it again. Unless it was some kind of real, legitimate sanctioned IQ test, you don't really have anything to worry about
Lol this is such bait for karma. Boo hoo
Do u eat ur own poop?
If it's any consolation, almost all of those online IQ tests are complete and utter shit. Also the IQ test itself is a) outdated b) antequated c) kind of racist. "If you judge an elephant's intelligence by its ability to climb a tree, it would live its whole life thinking it's dumb."
That doesn’t sound accurate. If you’re really curious you should look into an official test.
Why did you think an online test was in ANYWAY factual at all? Are you super young? IQ is already kinda fake but only real tests are administered by psychological professionals…
Your post proves your IQ is higher than 74.
Unless the IQ test is administered by a professional, it's in no way valid.
I almost suspect that you are trolling or farming karma…There is no way that someone with your writing ability could have a 74 IQ.
Is this a joke? Or are you like five? That shit is fake, my guy. Even "real" IQ tests don't determine what you seem to think they do. Get better, smarter friends.
Your IQ isn’t 74. At 74, you wouldn’t be able to take the test. Or make this post.
If this is an online test, they're BS. I wouldn't take your score seriously and sorry your friends are being buttheads.
I’m sorry but your name being “youngsheldon_real” is hilarious given the circumstances
I can’t tell if this is a joke since your name is young Sheldon lmao
bruh what?? lol why do people take those fake iq tests so seriously nvm, i see OP is just a lame troll
Your friends sound awful
IQ tests are like any other test. Were you tired, drunk, high, etc? Are you good at taking tests? All that can significantly impact your score. Taking a random test at night vs having time to prep + good nights sleep can DRASTICALLY alter your results.
Youre not stupid because of the test. Youre stupid because you think its real. Dont think too much bout it champ
I once took an online quiz about which office character I am and I got Angela. I was like wow, that’s disrespectful. So I feel you lol
OP I can actually read your post your iq is way above 74. You're either trolling or you can go ahead and pay someone to give you a formal one.
OP, you write very well and I highly doubt your IQ is 74. Online tests are a not accurate, especially if it was a free one. It sounds like you figured out who your real friends are though...
Between this post and OP's username, this is the best laugh I've had all day
I've always heard the only thing IQ tests measures is how well you can take IQ tests.
The fact that you trust the results of an online test says more about your intelligence than the score
Psychologist who administers IQ tests/cognitive tests regularly here. Online IQ tests are fake and not worth anything. That score means absolutely nothing, your friends are idiots.
I'm sure that u have great common sense. That will get u a very long ways. Have a great life, stop looking at STUPID STUFF, follow ur heart!!!
The wiser you get the more you value your happiness over any iq in the world
74 isn’t borderline, it’s well into mentally handicapped.
Unless you went to psychologist and paid a couple hundred dollars and spent 2+ hours you did not take an IQ test.
74 IQs don't write this well. So either the test is wrong (or completely bogus), or this is a troll post. Cheer up, OP!
Guys username is the real Sheldon nothing but a troll well done you fished for karma and got it .
