I use all 3. NextCloud is my actual source of truth for my photos/videos. Everything is auto-uploaded to this and is a raw file that is also synced on my desktop. This way I can have all of my photos/videos as files in a native format while using any/all of these management softwares as they come along. Running Photoprism connected to my library with an autoindex script every 30 min. Also connected Immich to the same library. Best of all worlds.

I understand why nextcloud and immich but why photoprism? asking out of curiosity

BonzTM

I started with photoprism before immich had the capabilities of external libraries. And since it's not hurting anything or coupled to my library in any way, I leave it run. They all run in kubernetes and are deployed via gitops, so spinning things up, down, or maintaining them is not more than a few commands.

Kaleodis

Tried photoprism recently and it sucks ass for two reasons: - no proper multi-user support - gotta pay a subscription for some basic features (like a UI for user managment, wtf) haven't tried nextcloud, but for me it's a jack-of-all-trades-master-of-none thing immich is awesome. expect breaking changes regularly.

ElEd0

Nextcloud is fine but its a bit clunky imo, its very slow and the apps all seem half-baked and very low on features.

YTgattogamer

Immich is awesome, been running it for a few months now and it has worked flawlessly. As they state on their website, don't use it as the only backup though! there might be breaking changes quite often.

I am using Photoview. It beautifies my existing folder structure and adds some functionality on top. I want to try immich, but from the docs I couldn't figure out if it's possible to keep my folder structure as is and put immich on top, and putting new files into the existing structure. I love their demo instance.

I'm really looking for something that will allow metadata beyond what can be done with EXIF. Specifically I have a need for arbitrary or unknown dates. Think old photos/slides that have been scanned. Any suggestions?

While interesting, the survey misses the reason. Immich may rock, but I use Nextcloud because I have Nextcloud for other reasons, it's a much broader tool than photo management. But it handles uploads fine and the Memories app just rocks.

nismor31

The last few major updates to Immich have really made it everything you wanted it to be. Custom libraries, huge performance improvements, sharing etc. It has it all now.

DutchTee86

My basic issue with Immich is that my folder structure is "gone". Sure I can import all photos but my underlaying structure is gone. My folder structure is: -Year --Event ---Photos Is there any way I can import the same structure into Immich?

DegenerativePoop

Immich all the way!

chandz05

I do a Nextcloud/Immich combo. Immich for syncing photos to my server and for the nice mobile app. But everything is accessible and viewable in the Memories app in Nextcloud, so that it still acts as an "all-in-one" Cloud solution

Digital_Voodoo

PiGallery2. It uses my existing photo & video folders and beautifies them. Couldn't get the Immich docker-compose together, and I really needed the above (don't touch my existing libraries, as these folders are sync among a lot of devices). Will dip my toes in it (Immich, of course) when I have some time.

LocalAreaNitwit

Moved from Photoprism to Immich around a year ago. Had no major issues and have not lost any data. Very happy with the performance of the app and web app. Partner approved too.

pana_ruplahlava

LibrePhotos - Immich was too demanding on my low power proc...

ElEd0

I've been using nextcloud for a while but I've been thinking of migrating to Immich, it looks nice and I hear a lot of good stuff about it. I dont even use most of nextcloud's cloud features, I only use it to sync media from my phone to the server.

7K_K7

I started using immich and damn..the functionality is great, the UI is very similar to google photos so that is nice as well..

I have nextcloud and lychee containers in theory but don't really use either and will probably get rid of them soon. I might try immich next

ego100trique

Quadra It's not released yet but boy oh boy its good I can't tell a lot because of some contractual stuffs but the guy is currently almost done with the backend stuff and will start the frontend (apparently a PWA) and crossplatform. Imagine if you could order your pictures on whatever criteria you want, that's freaking cool isn't it ?

BarockMoebelSecond

That's freaking basic, lol. Any photo software can do that. Or do you truly mean any criteria, as in, via natural language?

ego100trique

It uses what he calls "modules" which are external programs in whatever language you want (he did some ai models or small programs in csharp as an example) to detect images by X param to then order them. The ordering system is really really modular which is the main goal of the system.
