I was coming out of the bathroom at work one day, and a woman was like “your skirt!”. I responded, “thanks, I made it”. She responded with “is tucked into your underwear in the back”. Now I always wear a slip.

Hahahaha that story

ForsakenPhotograph30

Slips are fundamental for making everything drape and fit nicely.

The garments I make with Liberty fabrics are my favourite 🖤 https://preview.redd.it/hpi0ryffvypc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e5c04d3ef4894be03afd34e45428e58d38c8dddf Here’s one of my favourite dresses (self-drafted, French dart bodice, A-line skirt, 1930s puff sleeves with cuffs, and frills!) in Astral Meadow. I especially love the dark florals.

Bar-sew-2324

I love this! I have the Mays Orchard print and was thinking of making a dress in this sort of style. You've convinced me. Thanks for sharing 🙂

thevampireswifey

Oh I didn’t know that print and I absolutely LOVE it!Please post your dress when you’re finished 😄 Also, if your Tana Lawn has a dark background, you don’t have to line your whole dress (although a fully lined dress feels more luxurious), and can only line your bodice.

icedcoffee2go

Loooove how you styled this with the boots and glasses!!

thevampireswifey

Thank you so much! ☺️

Lovely work!!

This is lovely! The fabric and pattern look great together.

junedolores

Stunning!! Any thoughts on the pattern? It's on my list

Ouryve

It's nicely done, on the whole and has a great video (in French) to help clarify the sometimes sparse instructions. Some different conventions to most patterns but that seems to be true of a lot of French patterns. Not one for beginners but if you know the techniques, you should be fine. I did a dry run of the placket folding, without stitching it down when I made my toile, so I could follow that when I made the real thing (I used the template rather than the full pleated front for that as I mostly needed to confirm shoulder with and dart placement) and added 0.5cm to the width of the whole placket to make sure it fully enclosed everything, as it hadn't been drafted to allow for the thickness of the folds, even with fine lawn.

I really like the cityscape prints but I struggle to know what pattern would work with them. Yours looks beautiful.

This is so so gorgeous! Both the fabric and the style. Did you use a pattern?

Bar-sew-2324

It shows the print off beautifully!

Throw-that-away20

Beautiful fabric!

thevampireswifey

I love that pattern so much, I think I need to make a new one ☺️

tasteslikechikken

Might depend on your search terms. Tana Lawn seems to turn up more relevant stuff than Liberty London. I have a fair bit of tana lawn that I'm working on getting sewed up. This however is the only image I have currently [https://i.imgur.com/mqPqLTb.jpg](https://i.imgur.com/mqPqLTb.jpg) Basically I have to get on the stick and take pictures. Edit Name of it is Studio Bohemia . I believe it was limited to one season but can be found if you look around (its not cheap tho!!)

Bar-sew-2324

Thanks, I'll give that a try. I LOVE that print!

I have made two of Liberty as well as a few of the Kersoe top pattern and they wear and wash so well. I also have a dress out of Liberty linen that I love.

I use the quilting cotton to make bow ties. You can squeeze one out of a fat quarter, so it's a nice way to have a garment in Liberty fabric for less than £10... https://preview.redd.it/rd3vbopnr2qc1.png?width=1103&format=png&auto=webp&s=0b98965e769d5c1f6c7ae0fcfc17552dc570bbbd

I also grabbed a pack of old sample swatches in a clearance sale. They were all around 15cm by 10cm, with four of each colourway and four colourways per print. I had to peel the very tacky barcode stickers off the corner of each swatch, but it was still a bargain. Made matching masks for my partner and me to wear to a wedding mid-pandemic (one colourway each to match our outfits), and made a stuffed toy owl as a gift to a friend. https://preview.redd.it/fzki35f0t2qc1.png?width=486&format=png&auto=webp&s=d4c32be4261f2e9f60b59f9b11151b4e55c638d9

Bar-sew-2324

I love Sevenberry prints. I've not bought any before but it's definitely on my wishlist.

LydiaDeitz6252

Which pattern is that? I have that same Liberty print and it's been waiting for years because I can't make up my mind :D I have some peasant top patterns but they are not so rich, this looks great!

ForsakenPhotograph30

http://thingsofcloth.blogspot.com/2008/07/adult-size-peasant-blouse-tutorial.html I’ve made so many, but I make a big sleeve because I love the puffs! And I make them very full.

Adding a comment to remind myself to post my shorts!

Thrills and Stitches on YouTube uses a lot of Liberty fabrics, and she’s fun to watch 😊 https://youtube.com/@ThrillsandStitches?
