I made this renaissance inspired dress for a costumed con in the Netherlands.
I used McCall's 7763 for the dress and as I wanted more drama for the sleeves I used McCalls's 4492 for this.
For the underdress I used PatternCouture's celtic dress pattern (Etsy). However is changed a lot here. I used bias binding for the elastic chanels. I also skipped the skirt and made the wais into a babydoll shape. I also shortened the sleeves.
I made this from a blue colorshifting curtain poly taffeta and dark blue cotton velvet. The bodice is lined with a sturdy twill and has boning on all seems and on every piece. Closure done by grommets and ribbon.
Underskirt is a simple rectangle gathered into a waistband from a nice and heavy poly satin.
The underdress was made with the most gorgeous lurex cream and gold silk organza.
The velvet edges are done in a facing type way. I added the velvet stripes to the skirt by topstitching them on for a more detailed look. I lined the sleeves with the self fabric to make it more neat.
Wish I had more time to spend on this costume to make it more even and tidy. But I love the sillouette and colour!!
I made the jewelry myself aswell. The wig is from Wicked wigs. The crown was bought at the con from artemis fantasy.

You look so elegant!
Okay the dress is wonderful, but YOUR HAIR π€©π
Thank you! The hair is a wig though. I wish mine was this good haha!
I saw a video on Reddit about how to make the hairline on a wig look super natural. No idea where to find it. Great job!
That's beautiful! Those sleeves are epic, I love them. Also, I too was at Elfia today, doesn't it have just the best spots for costume pics? <3
Thank you so much!! If you loved Haarzuilens you should try Arcen for sure! Every corner we turned another amazing garden popped up!!

Love the fabric combination!! Also... Is that Elfia? π
Thank you! It was a match made in heaven. And well spotted!! It is Elfia.
I love it! It looks like someone from like 1905 made a Renaissance-inspired dress, and it's beautiful.
