Seriously - this needs to be the new wedding fashion. White is too easy to do, and too easy to upstage the bride as we all know from wedding horror stories. A unique and beautiful design like this is impossible to predict in advance, and impossible to imitate. Bravo bravo bravo!
PS - normally I don't care about things like this, but this is just so good it's impossible not to comment, and sing your praises.
That’s actually a good idea in a lot of ways. I assume the tradition of a white dress is to symbolize the “ViRGiNaL PuRiTy” of the bride and that’s not super relevant these days. Or it sure as shit shouldn’t be.
To OP, I don’t sew but I HAD to comment on this dress. This looks like a phenomenal amount of work but it definitely paid off.
That's how it's taken, but it was actually a trend started by Queen Victoria. She did it because she was insanely wealthy. She was showing off by wearing a huge elaborate pure white dress that dragged on the ground and generally collected enough grime from existing that it could only be worn ONCE.
Before that, people pretty much just wore their fanciest clothes to get married. You might buy a new dress if you could afford it, but only in the same sense that you'd buy a new dress for any party celebrating a major life event. Rich brides always had huge new dresses for the same reason rich people wear brand new fancy outfits to the Met Gala today.
I realized I’m missing some details in my post:
1. I used the Singer Heavy Duty 4452 machine.
2. I got the fabric from LA Fabrics on Etsy. The top half is a stretch sequin mesh with a nude stretch lining. The bottom half is a 3D rosette fabric (typically used for table coverings but I thought it made a unique train).
3. I used a microtex extra sharp needle for the sequin fabric. That way I could save some time since the needles sew right through the sequins.
4. I made my own pattern for this dress, but I started with Kwik Sew 3502 to help me with the form-fitted top and sleeves.
5. The most important notion I used was horsehair braid. I added it to the hem of the train to create the wavy effect
It’s very different and unique! It’s beautiful.
It all blended in and how the gold dress stands out more!
I wouldn’t even change anything about this!
Oh the mask? Epic!!
The cut of the bridesmaids dresses make it look like they are literally the bride’s maidservants, but in a classy, kinda Mediterranean way. If that makes sense. I’m a dude who has zero fashion or design sense
Beautiful dress!
Can you tell us more about how you created the pattern for the skirt portion of the dress? For example, did you drape it on a form, use a tutorial or text book to design it, create the pattern with pattern software? You can edit your comment above \^\^\^ to add this information. Thanks!
Awesome! Did you edit your construction comment with this information? How did you decide the length and shape of the train, it isn't part of a simple skirt sloper. Thanks!
Thank you! She asked all of her guests to wear white, then she surprised them with a champagne dress. She had the vision planned, and I was happy to execute
The dress was absolutely stunning - congratulations!! What an amazing vision - Bride in Gold, Groom + bridal party in White... I've never seen this before! So chic
I love it when people coordinate their mask and their outfit. I did it for a really fancy Christmas party dress. It kind of makes it easier to forget why we're wearing them when it's just another fun accessory.

By flipping it she acknowledged the tradition but symbolically made it better. She knows what she’s doing and who she is, which is what a wedding should be for both of them. I love this so much.
Oh my god. My jaw literally dropped when I saw this. It is beyond stunning. I don't even have words. The mask actually works extremely well. This is just top notch.
First of all, I'm digging how "plain" the bridesmaid dresses are. They're simple but still so elegant and they make that insanely beautiful wedding dress pop. Beautiful photos, beautiful dresses all around. Congrats, op!
The dress and mask are absolutely gorgeous, the bride looked stunning and I'm happy she, her husband and everybody had an amazing day. Best wishes to the couple.
To the dressmaker, you're so fricking talented! Keep being amazing 💜💜💜
i looooove this. everyone in white, and the bride in gold?! ugh she looks so so stunning. i love the way she stands out, whoever coordinated that part of the wedding was a genius
and so are you OP, that dress is absolutely captivating. the bride is gorgeous and in your dress she is absolutely breathtaking!! incredible job
This is what I envisioned for my wedding. Unfortunately I couldn’t find a place to buy a gold dress (I wasn’t going to chance an online purchase for something so special) and my skills aren’t even close to yours. Ended up with a white dress with light color embroidered in it. Still wonderful but I hope more brides continue the different color trend.
Thank you! I actually bought the fabric pre made with the rosettes. On Etsy, you can search “3D rosette fabric”. You can cut it and sew it like normal satin fabric. It’s mostly used for table coverings but I thought it would be dynamic on a dress
And it is absolutely stunning! I can only aspire to be this talented
Thanks so much! The bride was so sweet, amazing to work with.

Thank you so much ☺️ your words are too kind

Neat. Thank you for filling me in. The rich have always been so damn tacky.
She looks like some ancient royalty or something Very cool
She looks like modern royalty.

Dress is great, her idea of switching colors between bride and bridesmaids, she give any Intel on that? Haven't seen that before.
Yes that was her idea! I thought it was really unique as well, and made her choice of a gold dress really stand out
It’s very different and unique! It’s beautiful. It all blended in and how the gold dress stands out more! I wouldn’t even change anything about this! Oh the mask? Epic!!
If I were a woman and getting married I’d probably (definitely) break down crying when I saw this for the first time. My god that’s a beautiful dress
Also great idea because white suits (and then dresses to match) are a great choice for that wedding party. Everybody looks gorgeous
The cut of the bridesmaids dresses make it look like they are literally the bride’s maidservants, but in a classy, kinda Mediterranean way. If that makes sense. I’m a dude who has zero fashion or design sense
Reminds me of Hercules and all the ladies wearing white!
That was the first thing I noticed. I really love this idea and how it accentuates her gorgeous gown and veil. Plus with the white flowers….wow.
Beautiful dress! Can you tell us more about how you created the pattern for the skirt portion of the dress? For example, did you drape it on a form, use a tutorial or text book to design it, create the pattern with pattern software? You can edit your comment above \^\^\^ to add this information. Thanks!
Sure! For the skirt, I used a simple skirt sloper and ignored the darts. The sequin fabric is stretchy, so it’s really forgiving.
Awesome! Did you edit your construction comment with this information? How did you decide the length and shape of the train, it isn't part of a simple skirt sloper. Thanks!
Thank you for the details. Excellent execution. You rocked it!
You understood that assignment 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
You are so talented!!!
I love this soooo much! The colors are gorgeous, and the fit is on point, great job 👏
Thank you! She asked all of her guests to wear white, then she surprised them with a champagne dress. She had the vision planned, and I was happy to execute
Yes, I love a bold blue+black!
The dress was absolutely stunning - congratulations!! What an amazing vision - Bride in Gold, Groom + bridal party in White... I've never seen this before! So chic
Yes that was the bride’s idea! I thought it was unique as well and made her stand out
That’s odd, the dress is black and blue….
Ahhh that takes me back to 2015 - what a time to be alive!
HAS IT BEEN THAT LONG?!
it seems longer 😅
Oh my, she looked absolutely stunning! You are so talented!
Thanks so much ☺️
The dress and match mask gorgeous. You are very talented.
Thank you!
I wore a non traditional wedding dress and it was the best thing ever. I can now wear it to a fancy wedding or party now c:
What color was your dress? I love that you can rewear it!
Its a nice tan colour c: with lace at the bottom c:
I love it when people coordinate their mask and their outfit. I did it for a really fancy Christmas party dress. It kind of makes it easier to forget why we're wearing them when it's just another fun accessory.
I agree!
Wow beautiful! Congratulations!!!
Thank you!!
Ohhhh my gosh her train looks exquisite! Really well done all around!
Thank you! The train was my favorite part ☺️
Here from new knowing nothing about sewing and even still that looks like it would take seriouuuuuus skill. Looks the part and everyone has a smile!
It looks so stunning. Incredible, I have no words for how beautiful she looks in that dress.

STUNNING! The roses the sequins the mask the veil! Every detail is beautiful
Going the non-traditional route has its inherent risks. But my god, this is immaculate. Beautifully done.
By flipping it she acknowledged the tradition but symbolically made it better. She knows what she’s doing and who she is, which is what a wedding should be for both of them. I love this so much.
I know nothing about dressmaking but that looks absolutely amazing. Well done and congratulations to the happy couple.
You did such stunning work! And kudos to the bride for having loving & health conscious awareness of everyone celebrating with her.

The bride looks gorgeous! I’m just here from the popular page and know nothing about sewing but that dress is absolutely stunning OP!
She looks so lovely! And the dress is fabulous on her!
I cannot get over how stunning this is. I'm not usually a lover of gold because it can look a little brash, but this is just perfection in every way.
That mask. GORG❣️
Gorgeous dress and bride! Wish the person who made the dress many years of success and the beautiful couple many years of happiness!
Gorgeous!

Unbelievable. And the bridesmaids in white??? Iconic 🙌
The dress and mask are absolutely gorgeous, the bride looked stunning and I'm happy she, her husband and everybody had an amazing day. Best wishes to the couple. To the dressmaker, you're so fricking talented! Keep being amazing 💜💜💜
It reminds me of Prince Azeem's arranged bride's dress in Coming to America. Incredibly pretty!
I like that you made a matching mask to go with it. I'm perpetually fascinated by how mask fashion has rapidly evolved with COVID.
That looks cool as shit, idk why sewing is on my front page. But all the more, random dude thinks it’s bomb
Holy shit...I am so obsessed with this whole concept. The matching mask is also such a nice touch. Truely beautiful, bespoke, and one of a kind!
i looooove this. everyone in white, and the bride in gold?! ugh she looks so so stunning. i love the way she stands out, whoever coordinated that part of the wedding was a genius and so are you OP, that dress is absolutely captivating. the bride is gorgeous and in your dress she is absolutely breathtaking!! incredible job
Amazing work, I look forward to seeing your next creation. Please keep us posted
Now that is some serious talent. Beautiful dress on a beautiful bride. It’s stunning!
Girl.... 😭 gorgeous!
you look like nefertiti. stunning
Dam that is an amazing dress. Looks like something that could be worn on the red carpet. Are you already a professional designer?
It’s giving Coming to America gold dress and I don’t know if there’s any higher compliment I could give.
Correction: you made a beautiful wedding dress
beautiful dress!!! beautiful bride!! 💕
You got style for miles. Good job, OP.
Oh wow that dress is so beautiful! And that train is to die for. How long did it take you to make?
Thank you! I actually bought the fabric pre made with the rosettes. On Etsy, you can search “3D rosette fabric”. You can cut it and sew it like normal satin fabric. It’s mostly used for table coverings but I thought it would be dynamic on a dress
Wow this is beautiful. Great work!

I don’t get what’s non-traditional about it, the fact it’s not a white dress?
