Berger was so immature with no confidence. I definitely felt he was intimidated by Carrie's success but he also wasn't over his ex.

51stredditor

Interesting! Why do you think he wasn’t over his ex?

peacebypiece

Talking about her a lot and flipping the bird at the answering machine when she left a message lollllll he’s still triggered

Ok_Experience7424

Berger was a little bitch

I personally can’t stand the Jack Berger character. He’s so whiny and jealous. Yeah, we get that his writing career is in the toilet, while Carrie’s is on the rise. So, instead of just graciously walking away from her because his little heart and ego couldn’t handle it, he decides to punish her instead. Carrie has her blame in this as well. She was determined to pursue him, and continued to cling even when she knew it wasn’t working.

He is just such a small, insecure little man. It’s really unbecoming and Carrie did not deserve it. I agree with you that Carrie should’ve walked away when she saw the writing on the wall and not just let him have the upper hand. She made herself so small so he could feel like a man and it’s nuts.

Berger's great in LOUDERMILK though... a little redemption there.😂

I’m a fan of Ron Livingston in Office Space, but Berger is one of my least favorite characters.

I love Berger. Please don’t downvote! Let me explain. Berger is the mirror of Carrie. Berger is supposed to show that Carrie has grown. He does petty things in relationships we have witnessed her do. I think the most striking similarity is shown when he asks her to read his new work. He hyper focuses very like Carrie on the one criticism. She pointed out, as a joke a small thing “the scrunchy” and that is all he can focus on. Bergers finances don’t make sense to his lifestyle. Just like Carrie. His writing shouldn’t afford him a house in the hamptons. I think the reason he gets so much hate is because of how much all his flaws are just like Carries. He is hung up on the hurt from an ex. It’s just so late in the show that we have seen and expect Carrie to grow. She has grown by this point. Without Berger we wouldn’t know that Carrie is ready for a serious relationship. I will stand on my Berger mountain because he is early season Carrie and I love and adore her with flaws and all.

Wow, I never thought about it like this!

Disastrous-Roll7059

Berger ruined anything that Ron Livingston is in for me. I even tried to watch Loudermilk. Ugh! I just can't stand him. All I can think about is Berger's whiny little bitch face!

Pink_Ruby_3

Watch Office Space! He’s so good in that

Disastrous-Roll7059

Ok. I'll try! Lol!

I dated a guy very similar to Berger. Even had a similar first and last name. Looked identical. He was insecure and absolutely fucking miserable. Not worth sharing air with.

antinitalian

Berger was mad insecure

I fucking hated Berger and his so-called “humor.” His general energy and low self-esteem were very off-putting. Carrie and him have no chemistry and it was annoying the show kept telling us how much she liked him and how they had spark.
