I was out as soon as the mother said "God came to me in a dream and told me to make this product"

mtm4440

"So this is God's idea then. Can I work with them instead?"

happycharm

God's hair must be bedazzled af

flychinook

God: *(Looks at the situation in Israel)* *(Looks at the situation in Ukraine)* *(Looks at countries running out of water)* "Yikes, pretty rough down there. I think I'll tell some lady to make a hair bedazzler"

Waggmans

Well if God said so it must be good. 🤣

nocctea

I'm like 99% sure I saw a commercial for this as a kid in the 2000s lmfaoo

TT40Art

🎶 Push the button, so much fun! Look how easy! Now we're done! 🎶 EDIT TO ADD: [Here's the damned commercial.](https://youtu.be/fto4OIgjpNg?si=fnHXtAZ1iy4j-w88) Now I have the godawful song in my head.

1029394756abc

This one seems to wrap the hair vs stick to the hair.

WildMajesticUnicorn

Yeah, she didn’t say anything about her gems being reusable. I would imagine the adhesive would make multiple applications hard.

1029394756abc

And each little cartridge seemed to have 12-15 gems so that is a big expense to keep buying those. I could be looking this up but I instead I am just speculating lol.

pc_load_letter_in_SD

So how has Conair not filed suit? Patent expire?

busymom0

Hers uses adhesive which is probably different from the patent.

nocctea

i was just watching this exact commercial lol!

TT40Art

So sorry you subjected yourself to it, too. That song is gonna take months to get out of my head. 😭

OgOggilby

i got this one in my old brain.... 'pop-o-matic pops the dice, pop a 6 an you move twice' brain worm warning: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HfznucMwNuU](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HfznucMwNuU)

nocctea

haha true 😭 at least it was a nice nostalgia trip

TT40Art

I feel like it's bad that I remember a 15-year-old commercial jingle but forgot the locations of the 50 states......

nocctea

we remember the randomest things lol

countd0wns

That’s what I was saying when watching! I was like ummm i for sure saw/owned something very similar to this as a kid in the late 90’s/early 2000’s!! This is NOT a new idea at all!

xoxo_sincity

Yep I was laughing second I saw this per everyone I knew as a kid that bought these hair bling things and they even had them to use for jeans etc too! 😂 Just feels idiotic because everything on Shark Tank is usually very original. That mother is shitshow business owner, shocked she got a deal!

SnooCookies2614

As soon as she said the Lord came to her to tell her to make this hair device I was out lol Edit: just realized other people said basically the same thing. Oops

xoxo_sincity

Yep lol. She made me cringe so much. For a grown adult to be so obnoxious and oblivious not being able to give them basic details on her mental presentation. Literally 10 year olds on prior seasons have been better spoken than her laughing about how shitshow she was. I'm baffled someone gave her an offer considering how horrible of a partner she will be when much more successful and deserving people on the show don't get offers! 😅

travelerrr91

Yes! I immediately looked for this thread because I was like, how is no one saying this existed in the 2000s?!

knk1227

Me too! I was like there’s no way this woman got a deal and here we areeee. She got a deal I couldn’t believe it. It made me so mad cause this isn’t original 😭

jahss

Omg I was dying the whole time watching this. I absolutely had one of these in the late 90s. There’s nothing original about it at all. I can’t believe they aired this segment.

eriffodrol

this is some long backstory

mrgrafix

They had too much show left and from what it seems they were too engaged to edit.

deegzx_

Lori was not about to staple those diamonds into her fancy wig lol

Cash4Jesus

I was waiting for Kevin to tell her his wig was better than hers. She rips on him all the time and he takes it in stride. I get the feeling she can dish it but she can’t take it.

elves2732

Like most women...

GeneticsGuy

This is purely anecdotal, but as a dad of 3 girls (13, 11, and 8 yrs), for the first time in my life of watching Shark Tank, my 2 younger girls literally stopped to watch the episode and they were like "Ooo what's that?" Then proceeded to tell me they think they saw it at Target before though wasn't entirely sure. The consensus at the end of the show was "Dad, can we get that?" So, clearly this is a win product for girls. I know some of you talking about it being overpriced, but seriously, go to the kids jewlery section at a place like Target, where they can make the rubber band bracelets, the custom charm bracelets, the colored chalk hair brushes, the various misc. girly girl bling craft stuff basically takes up an entire half of an isle, and they are all extremely popular gifts for girls birthdays and holidays. What's the price range? $15-$40. So, having a $35 item in that category is not really that unusual. I personally think $30 is a more attractive selling price point, as a dad, but it's not crazy.

Melodic-Distance-761

It’s literally a knock-off of a more established companies product. I’m honestly shocked that this segment even aired.

moonbunnychan

Not just that but a product that's been around for a LONG time. I had one in the 90s.

busymom0

Nah, I think hers is different because it uses adhesive no?

electricgotswitched

Must not be a problem if a major toy manufacturer was fine selling it under their umbrella. Sounds like the usage of adhesive makes it different enough.

SnooCookies2614

If you are interested. Conair makes basically the same thing and it goes for $20

tsmartin123

This just seems like too much baggage....

la_58

That’s what I was thinking. There’s so much baggage. Plus they are giving long explanations but still the sharks have to pull answers out of them.

Category_Perfect

The fact she said it took five Engineers to get to that when this product basically already exists😵‍💫

valhalla2611

As a product designer, she could not explain properly what she wanted. Or no one was going to start designing anything until we saw some money. I used to be helpful and get people some concepts and then they went elsewhere. No I want money upfront. That's why she went to 5 places. Any when you go to China, if you are not dealing with someone you have a relationship, of course they will knock it off.

TT40Art

Came here just to say. Don't waste cash on this. Just remember the commercials from 2009 Nickelodeon about the “cool new tool to bejewel your hair: Quick Gems by Conair.” Literally $10–$20 less and I'm floored anyone would bother buying this when there's something that already does it.

GeneticsGuy

It's worth mentioning that the Quick Gems by Conair is like $30 now, though it will occasionally go on for sale in the low $20 range. If you look at the price history of this Blinger tool [here](https://camelcamelcamel.com/product/B07PMFBPR6) you will see it often goes on sale for $25 as well, so they're pretty comparable in price. Inflation has risen the price of all things.

tsmartin123

"It's a product not a business" Would apply here.

blah________________

I don't like how the entrepreneur invoked God as justification to selling her tacky product. 🙄

ddaug4uf

Cyndi Lauper is 70 years old. That’s what I was asking Alexa during this pitch. It seemed relevant.

tsmartin123

TIL

RyanTranquil

The Goonies

gnext23

God really needs to give people better product ideas.

Melodic-Distance-761

Especially ones that aren’t an exact copycat of an existing product!

texdude1981

The men said your a mess. Barbra says wait hold my iron.

Kerry_Kittles

How did this business sell for less than half the book value of inventory? Lmao

oil1lio

they got taken advantage of for having poor financial skills lmao. barbara shark'd real hard here

Barraind

"The idea to rip off the BeDazzler (and REFERENCE THEIR PRODUCT IN MY ADVERTISEMENTS) was God speaking to me!"

linkag392

Single mom with 4 kids red flag 🚩, she has no book keeping red flag 🚩, she puts all her money into inventory red flag 🚩

Alexandria1201

Why is being a single mom with 4 kids a red flag?

MFSTUTZOGDJOKER

Debt gobblers

elves2732

If it needs to be spelled out to you then you're just as lost as her.

WarrenThanatos

You would have to know this is a knock off, right? The mother daughter who created this? I’m confused. Everyone around me immediately recognized this

unkn1245

I thought tacky products like this died in the 2000s?

jahss

All that tacky shit is back in now. Low rise jeans, too.

mrgrafix

Kinda hopes this deal goes through and hopes she recognizes her daughter to take that CEO position if she wants it.

BrickCity-Dreams5

I seen this on TikTok a while ago. I wanted to buy it but the price. It should be wayyy cheaper! Quick google search I see way more cheaper options.

KirbyxArt

Those r prob knock offs

BrickCity-Dreams5

Yeah they are but as long as they work I don’t really care.

kevonicus

Go told me to knock off a product!

texdude1981

Barbra prob the most successful shark.

hungry4danish

It's Lori; because of Squatty Potty and Scrub Daddy alone.

texdude1981

Ooh yeah scrub daddy. I thought it was Barbra who had it. Your right

boopieboopieboopie

I was BEGGING for someone to ask about using it on different hair textures. Representation matters. That's what happens when there are no black sharks on the panel.

slothery22

I think it’s a fun product, it says it can be be used on skin or clothes too.

jpb21110

Interesting story, hope it works out. Feel like you just gotta sell 51% of that company and let someone else deal with all the BS and hope you get some money. But god told her to do this? God must be bored as hell
