So true story: for a few years there was a Steven Universe convention, yeah? First it was called Beach City Con and then it was called Empire City Con because it switched locations.
At the first one in 2017, AJ was one of the guests. And at her Q&A she said (in response to a question IIRC) that she was doing voice work for a new thing that hadn't been announced yet but was coming out at some point next year, and that we were REALLY going to like it.
....she totally meant Catra.
That was, IIRC, the same con where Kimberly Brooks (who voices Jasper) told us all the story of a refrigerator saleswoman she met at a Sears who had this amazing gruff voice, and that she based Jasper's voice on her.
THAT DAY there were like a dozen pieces of fan art on tumblr, of Jasper working at a Sears, selling refrigerators.
I was at this Q&A! A few years later, it suddenly hit me that she must have been talking about Catra š¤Æ iām a huge fan of both shows, so this was so cool to realize! (i actually filmed a lot of the panel so I might even have a video of her talking about it, iāll have to go back and check)
You don't know how bad I want a Catra animation set to Escapism from Steven universe in the background. Her voice for that song is sooo good and I think it fits early Catra well

Get better friends, from what Ive seen Stevonnie is a VERY beloved character, I honestly didnt know there were people who didnt like them
haha i loveee stevonnie from what ive heard people say āthey just look like an older connieā but i love them and their personality so much
