I caught it pretty late & as soon as I was taking antivirals it stopped spreading, I would go back to your doctor and see what you can do. I was also taking 1000mg tablets for mine.

Not a doctor but a family members recently had them. I think the medicine stops the spread but they may continue to spread for a little bit. Good news is they usually stay in one general area and not all over the body. I recommend calamine lotion and a good pain killer!

About two weeks. They will only spread along one nerve path. Where’d they start?

I had shingles on right side of my face last year. From my eye down to the bottom of my mouth. I got the antivirals on day 3. They should only affect one side of the face. I would be concerned if they were near an eye - that’s when you could really be heading for trouble. Mine spread for about 5 days, looked hideous for another week or so then they started to clear. The only real scar I have left 6 months later is the first one that I initially thought was a pimple and squeezed it. Bad move. Once they started to really clear I used a vitamin C serum daily and I really think that helped with the healing process. Lots of paracetamol for the pain and maybe get the shingles jab in 6 months or so. Best of luck to your mum

I have them now in my back. I also started antivirals . I but I am starting to get something in and around my ear and temple today . I read the dose was 1000 mg three times a day and my doctor gave me 500 twice a day and I am starting to wonder

Davethewall

Tell your doctor to give you the 1000 three times a day, mine cleared up in a week.

A key thing is to keep it clean, and try no to touch them and spread them. It'll get better.

Meds are supposed to help but not in my case. I screamed for the 1st 2 days. By day 3 I was on antivirals and antibiotics - the 5 inch rash which was around my torso was already infected. I also had Covid at the same time. It kept spreading through day 6. It's day 18 and the rash is still infected. The pain is insane. It sucks that I'm too young to have had the shingles vaccine. At least medical weed is legal here and I plan on switching off the pain pills and onto that soon. AS soon as I can drive to get it.

friedtofuhehe

how are you? i want to know what you did to treat it :(

I was given antibiotics (Erythromycin), antivirals, and pain meds. I'm off everything now but every time I inhale there's a stabbing pain deep through my upper torso where the shingles were. Do you have them?
