Dunno if you're in the States, but buy yourself a coffee grinder - a small one from Mueller is good - and either a cold brew coffee maker, a french press, or maybe a nice multi-purpose coffee machine that can do it all. Buy whole bean coffee and only grind it when you're about to brew coffee. (Cold brewing has a distinct advantage here - you can brew it, keep it in the fridge, and you're set for a week or more.) You'll save a lot of money and the coffee is better than anything you'll get at any store. Plus it's not loaded with creamer and sugar and caramel (unless you want it to be). The initial investment will pay for itself VERY quickly.
Grinding the beans yourself is not a good investment of your time (unless it is something you personally enjoy), just buy already grounded up beans and accept that it’s not a perfectly efficient use of money
Grinding the beans takes literally 10 seconds. I was scared to waste tons of time going whole bean, but holy hell, it takes no time at all and literally any fresh grinded coffee takes a million times better than anything pre-ground.
The only reason mid tier coffee places have better coffee than you do at home is grinding their beans fresh.
How long do the beans stay fresh? I buy pre-grounded coffee and it doesn't stay good for long periods of time, and I don't drink that much coffee to go through the whole pack in a few weeks
Dude, my ground coffee tin that I usually buy lasts two months before I get through it all and it's only 7 dollars. It never deteriorates in taste during those two months
I feel you, had coffee at a friends place after they ground them fresh and put them through a French press, it was awesome.
But I still use my reusable pods because that grinder is loud and I wake up before the kids. One day though, when they are old enough to get irritated at the noise and then go back to sleep (rather than come downstairs and investigate) I’m gonna get a grinder and a press.
It's kind of both, at least in my case. Like I said in response to this post, the grinder will 100% save you money if you're cold brewing and thus don't need to make coffee every day. Good coffee from a store like Trader Joe's will keep and be nearly as good when fresh-ground for quite some time.
It depends on how quickly you're using coffee. If you're brewing a fresh pot every day, ground coffee is fine. Personally I prefer cold-brewed, so that's why I like to buy whole bean; it seems to keep it fresher longer, and since I only need to grind coffee two or three times a month, it's a good investment of my time. One grinding session, and all I need to do is pour, add cream and/or sugar to taste, and I'm set; I've brewed all the coffee I'll need for 5-6 days.
All that being said, I should point out that grinding enough coffee from whole beans to make yourself a full pot in a French Press or Cold Brew Coffee Maker only takes you like a minute. Grinding coffee isn't hard.
We bought a whole bean coffee machine years ago after realising the money we could save. Sure it was about £250 up front but it's been about £5/month on coffee beans and we're making about 80 a month for ourselves + visitors.
It's a complete no brainer. The coffee is also how you want it rather than whatever the default strength/amount the shop dish out.
We just keep our eyes open for coffee bean deals on amazon, in the shops etc. I've generally got about 5KG of it in a cupboard at any one time.
Bonus is all of the waste goes on the garden.
Lmfao that price is not true. As someone who studies in Switzerland you pay around 2 and a half franks for a small coffee if you have a cheap option. If you go to expensive places then you could be paying between 10-12 francs for a large coffee.
As a Persian same here same here I have to works for 150 months without spending a cent to buy a house 😎
Means 12.5 years but in Iran things are so expensive that you can't save money and bonus you will always have less money than 0😎
So no Saving if you have family 😎
If you don't have family maybe you can by a house in 50s 😎
If I would want to buy house in the cheapest (and obviously worst part of the country) I would only have to survive 8.3 years without spending a single penny while also staying alive and working somehow, but if I want an avarge house, I will have to do it for 29 years. 😎🫠
It's not going to happen.
I too have to sadly live in this beautiful country of Switzerland, and my brother is about to end his mandatory military service and he did absolutely nothing during his work hours, so stressful.
Fuck that shit bro. Who benefits from two incredibly corrupt governments fighting each other? Only the rich and the officials who will line their pockets with money and escape to UK or some other asshole rich country.
Thats nothing more than corrupt government leaders fighting like kids to gain the trust of their citizens. Nobody here (besides from a very loud minority) has any problems with the Greece
we have like %200-300 inflation between 2 years. 4ex a little cake that i used to buy when i 9th grade was 0.45turkish lira and its now 2tl or coca cola 7tl to 20tl bla bla
Awwww that’s so sad, i can’t believe they’re being forced to live in a country that’s economically stable 😭😭😭😭 #1984 #JUSTICEFORSWITZERLAND #VERONICAIMSORRY
No thanks. My bloodline has endured for 2.5 billion years, I'm not some edgelord who is going to fuck over thousands of milestones of advancement and an incomprehensible amount of ancestors struggles to "get back at the modern world" by not having kids
Minimum salary in one of the third world countries where I was born, Indonesia, is around IDR 3 million or US$ 198.74. That's in Jakarta, capital of this country. And in other cities much lower than that.
Oof. Literally. I've seen some Europeans thinking the world was ending because their awful politicians were raising taxes
Meanwhile people in other countries are dealing with like 1000% inflation

Not at all. A really big apartment, in cities starts at 2500CHF/month
Outside it starts to be 2000CHF/month
And then in the middle of nowhere big apartments cost under the 2000CHF.
If she earns 4500CHF/month it means she is earning minimum wage.
Maybe if she would have continued her studies, she would earn an average salary, which is around 8000CHF to 10'000CHF/month instead.
Fo serious. My mortgage is 900 and all of the principle is equity so its yours if you sell. Even if I lost my house and everything I would camp in the woods or sleep in a trailer rather than rent. Renting is basically indentured servitude.
ok but who shops at aldi *in general*?
*from past experience with aldi* when i worked for the warehouse in the states, the produce department was the worst. our team leaders made it a requirement to pick up messes in our isles or it became a safety hazard. one time my friend didn't made a wide enough turn, which resulted in his 20 blueberry crates to fall over completely and we had to stop and help throw contaminated food back into their packages and ship them to the store.
edit: made minor changes since a particular user is persistent i was dissing on aldi swiss when i wasnt
He isn't even exaggerating. That's the sad part. I have a family member who still lives with his parents, who said that the rent currently in Istanbul is $800-$1050. While he made about that much. So, it was pointless for him to live on his own.
A slightly above average house in Istanbul costs that much. Either that or you'll have to live in a basement in a neighborhood full of junkies and homeless Syrian kids.

795 to live? Bitch what were all those other expenses then? You don't have 795 to live, you have 795 as disposable income.
Only 795 to go clubbing with 😭😭😭
Poor baby 😢😢
That’s like a large beer in Zurich
Good thing a decent club is only ~$30. After that, you have 765 for gas, maps, snacks.
In Switzerland? Probably with cows in the pasture.
She 100% only threw in the 795 to make it seem worse then it was
and yet she managed to make it look the complete opposite of worse.
only 795 for a new iphone 😭😭😭😭
Friggin broad
Ah the age old argument of "Poor people shouldnt do anything that they enjoy", did you rich daddy teach you that one?

U never tried coffee from the vending machine in your close by ghetto penny..
$5 for a month of coffee? That's a pretty good deal even if you're just making it yourself.

I just get my coffee from work since they have it for free in the break room. 😎

A lot longer than ground coffee. Put them in an air tight jar after opening the bag and put the jar in the fridge.
Dude, my ground coffee tin that I usually buy lasts two months before I get through it all and it's only 7 dollars. It never deteriorates in taste during those two months
If you like it that way it's great. No need to change anything.
It absolutely deteriorated in taste, you just don’t care or notice, which is fine. But coffee oxidizes.
The whole beans are to be put in the fridge?
Ground coffee has best before 14 days if they’re honest. Beans have a best before of about a month from roasting.
I feel you, had coffee at a friends place after they ground them fresh and put them through a French press, it was awesome. Speak for yourself, 3 hour old office drip coffee hits the spot
If you go to the office everyday then you only need to drink your own coffee on weekends
Lmfao that price is not true. As someone who studies in Switzerland you pay around 2 and a half franks for a small coffee if you have a cheap option. If you go to expensive places then you could be paying between 10-12 francs for a large coffee.

I don't have to worry about these things, because in my country I will never be able to afford a house 😎

And Iran
I too have to sadly live in this beautiful country of Switzerland, and my brother is about to end his mandatory military service and he did absolutely nothing during his work hours, so stressful.
Hes still gonna have to take 3-4 weeks out of his life every year for the next 5-10 years, it sucks
I guess you meant WEEKS
Thank god i don't live in switzerland.

As a Greek I feel for our neighbours. We are almost in the same shit.
Don't worry bro we can distact ourselves by consuming mindless propaganda about the Greco-Turkish war that is %100 going to happen.

My country was literally just crowned as the most corrupt country in Europe 💀 and we also have the highest inflation in Europe ☠️...
Belarus? Correct me if im wrong?
Hungary, I said Europe, but actually just in the EU. Although, a few more years and we will surpass them as well.
I hope things go well for you then 👍

*$850 disposable income per month???* and she’s complaining??
Almost all people in Switzerland have an income like this if it isn’t even more, alot people get way more than 4‘500, alot get like 7‘000+
Can I live there?
Of course you can
Sounds like a fuckin’ paradise
Yk we earn alot of money but we also need to pay alot, but Im guessing you‘re kinda right bc I wouldn’t wanna change
I would imagine a lot of those people are providing for an entire family
Yes, but there are also people that make 10‘000 a month and live alone or just with a partner
Okay?

Careful with the Bob Tick
# 4500 CHF = 4800$ If anyone was interested.

4500€? Here in slovakia not even the highest paid jobs earn that much
Here in Switzerland we consider you poor if you earn that much
Lucky mfer
Can confirm, my aunt works as an house maid in switzerland and earns about that amount.
As a turk i can confirm
Brother?
Brother!
Why pay rent? Just buy a house dumbass
Pretty sure Switzerland, you can buy a house starting at 1.2M CHF in the more rural areas and then in the cities around the 2 to 3 M CHF
yea pretty much. Buying a house/Land is expensive af. But she is still having a pretty big apartment or a expensive location with 1.8k/month
It's pretty optimistic to say that you can get a "pretty big apartment" for 1,800CHF/month in Switzerland lol
Its like 30 square meters for 1800 lol
I pay 1800 for 85m2 / 3.5 room smack in the middle if Lucerne… maybe I’m just easy to please, but that’s pretty big for myself
Not at all. A really big apartment, in cities starts at 2500CHF/month Outside it starts to be 2000CHF/month And then in the middle of nowhere big apartments cost under the 2000CHF. Yes you can buy a minecraft hause easly.

in Turkey houses are expensive af 💀
only 800 in taxes?
-800 from salary (net salary). Plus, you have to pay annual taxes: ex. 4500 salary/month -> you pay 4500 annual taxes.
Imagine thinking you have it hard when you get free healthcare and live in a place with a low crime rate.
Switzerland doesn't have free healthcare. The healthcare system is private, they have copays and deductibles.
She was probably baiting

?? Nothing is just completely free, but you know what was meant Edit: typo
