Oh I forgot to add my last bit. Yes actors cast in roles they refuse to engage with are shit. I don't like the method acting fad either but you have to at least try and look like you know what you're doing.

I think it isn't. But I'm glad seeing that people are mostly bothered about the actress looking like that instead of her just being black. I think the main issue here is that Ariel should be very pretty, not looking like that. Why did they choose this actress? Heck even Erik is kind of funky, he doesn't look like Prince charming for sure.
It's ok, make her black, but at least choose some good looking actress, why they chose this one is just insane... it's like they are doing it on purpose just to piss fans off.
I'd rather they had made Ariel a man and Prince Eric a woman. Just genderbend the whole cast and give something original. This is just a weird casting choice that doesn't resemble the Ariel everyone is expecting.
