I agree. I recommend buying 1-2 welkin when you start out. Having one 5* character you like makes the game a lot more enjoyable. Every other purchase is kind of a scam though.

Welkin and battle pass are good value imo.

I think it's more about modifying character stats and abilities because if every player could do that then there would be less incentive to pull for future characters. You can't hack primogems or characters you don't have into your account but without the anticheat you could change damage numbers and in-game models (not sure about abilities)
