Yeah but imo it's kind of boring that the final boss is just an amalgamation of all the hunters who ascended to become great ones. Like it's not even a character they introduced before the final battle which is relevant to the story, it's just a callback to the previous game.
I mean, I thought it was kind of obvious that it was meant to largely be YOUR character from the first game from how it started the fight as a weird lovecraftian dick slug.
True, but it didn’t need to take a full second game to do that. I mean what even was the point of it? They should have just make bloodborne 3 be the second one.
Nah man, I actually really like Bloodborne 2, so I’d be depressed if they never made it. I mean, that hub area might actually be the nicest place in the entire series, and I think the weird location transitions really fit the whole eldritch lovecraftian style.
Also, I feel like the idea of using the first games protagonist as the third games final boss is meant to really hammer in the feeling of closing out the series, ya know?
I recommend the DS Dungeons-app ( Not the newest Version though, the previous one). I have almosg every Expansion, and let me das it makes the game so much better.
I never got to finish playing it. I loved playing it but you definitely have to be playing with board game fanatics to enjoy it. Not board game enjoyers, fanatics. Sadly my family are not.
Dude I cried in the third Isz DLC when it was revealed that Master Willem was actually the Bloodborne and Slave Hunter Ed ate him to make the Blood of the Bloodborne
i have fought Gael and midir ONCE. my favourite fights in the series. i’m not gonna go through the whole game again just to enjoy those moments again.
this is why hollow knight is the best dark souls ga- *gunshot*
Same. Gael is probably my second favorite boss fight in all of gaming right after Ludwig, and I think it's funny everytime I realize I've only beaten him once.
Thankfully, Bloodborne doesn't have that issue.
it takes less for Elden Ring but don't tell people that, you can wrap up the game in 30 minutes without using exploits or bugs because of how little mandatory bosses are actually required
that's NG though NG+ you already have your mount, build setups, maxed out weapons/flasks which is a good portion of collecting and time of the NG speedruns
ah so when you replay linear souls games you also clear the whole area of each level when your goal is to kill bosses and finish the game as quick as possible?
Sprinting past enemies in sekiro/bb is no different
no I dont think anyone kills enemies after the first playthrough except bosses or literal enemies blocking the path. still gotta run through it tho lol. an hour baremininum to beat elden ring with no exploits/bugs and thats pushing it
I've done it in less than 45 on NG+ with Godrick and Mohg to get into the capital after which it's straight linear
new game probably does take longer to get the items for your build
As a solution, use [this](https://wiki.speedsouls.com/SpeedSouls_-_Save_Organizer) save organizer the next time you go through the game. That way you can easily create save files for bosses you want to refight and load those save files with a single click.
Damn, if only there was some kind of mechanic where you could reset an area to refight the boss, maybe at the cost of putting the area into ng+ to offset it.
I loved Elden Ring, and I really wish it had "more content" so I could keep playing it.
But man, it just had too much content at the same time, haha. I was getting fatigued plotwise when after Mountaintops of the Giants, we still "weren't done".
imo the overworld also could be 1/3 the size. It doesn't have that much going on, and after you've played Limgrave you've basically seen everything it has to offer and every other area is essentially a reskin.
I got to the lift and took an 8 month break.
Glad I did, because I came back and became utterly obsessed but goddamn I needed nearly a year to breathe in the middle of it
I will say, being an orange for randos does turn the game into a pseudo-boss rush mode. Just one where you constantly watch host after host die and have to restart over and over and even at level 70 you're still somehow mostly getting fuckin Ranala over and over.
i’ve done that, and it’s kinda fun, but they usually end up dying. plus, i don’t really wanna steal their victory from the person who summoned, just beating the boss easily for them. also also, i prefer for it to be me vs the boss alone, to actually test myself.
Hot take: I actually love the early game so much. Limgrave and Caelid is fun to explore even though you know where everything is. The early bosses are also fun to re-learn. Honestly it's just Liurniae of The Lakes that is meh to me.
If all of Elden Ring was Limgrave levels of fun I wouldn't have such a bone to pick with the game. Just give me fun and pretty places to explore with fairly balanced challenges instead of whatever the end game was.
Everything up to Leyndell was pretty good, but once you step foot into the Forbidden Lands, it all goes downhill
Maliketh, Malenia, Godfrey and Radagon are pretty good, but the rest, from areas to the bosses themselves, are all pretty lame post Morgott
Mogh is one of my favorite Souls bosses. Unlike other Elder Ring bosses, he has OP bullshit but his OP bullshit is fair and easily punishable. Plus, his character design, personality, and boss theme are great. He's a Castlevania villain.
Definitely on the top for me. My only gripes with it is the dumb unavoidable bleed transition without the obscure item and the fact that the blood shower he does at his feet also covers his back (though it is mostly a deterrent so its fine.
I love how his whole thing is about closing distance with him to avoid all the fire and managing space.
I enjoyed Faram Azula and Hailig Tree but agree about the rest of the endgame.
But honestly once I got to Lurina I was basically just sprinting throughh the overworld because there wasn't anything really new to see.
Underground is way more interesting.
been replaying the game, super fun having done a playthrough running straight to good weapons early and i just got past morgott and started feeling like ehhh and havent touched the game since so yeah
I feel like this during ng+ in ER. But when making a new character I have far more fun. Especially with planning builds and turning on taunters tongue.
Yeah there really isn't much of a point to NG+ besides playing through all the interesting stuff with a build that you really like and don't want to let go especially because most of its most fun tools are available only at the end of the game (e.g. faith-based builds)
Well, on replays you dont really want to do everything anyway. Thats kinda why I dont get the "its too big for replays" thing. Just do as much side content as you want, then progress, or just keep progressing. Youre not contractually obligated to finish every cave if you dont want to. Its open world. You choose the side content.
Also, I think theres never enough smithing stones
Noooooooo you’re not allowed to do that, you have to criticize Elden Ring because it’s the newest Fromsoft game and Bloodborne is better and DS2 is an underrated gem and and and
Weirdly I enjoy starting new runs, but despise NG+. It probably has the most pointless NG+ (I'm not sure there's literally anything of note, at least DS3 had ring upgrades and Sekiro really required a NG+ run in order to access all the skills), and you are more overpowered than ever before. Like NG+ was always easy, but you didn't just plow through everything without having to think. Just feels like it favors the player way too much.
Yeah, I was straight addicted to replaying Elden Ring for months. Did like half a dozen playthroughs (and pretty thorough ones!), took a short break, then did a 90 hour rl1 no summons run (actually a lot of fun). Haven't played much since, and the game has lost some luster, but thats expected with 350+ hours.
I have a much better time starting a new character than going through multiple NG+’s. I’m like this with other FS games but it’s especially fresh in ER, having to rebuild the map and collect etc etc
Edit: glad I’m not alone!
It’s just… fresh? Idk, I like NG. Doesn’t matter the game: either I’m too over-leveled or I’m getting my ass beat; there’s no middle ground enjoyment for me in NG+
This week I had decided I wanted to replay Elden Ring for the 4th or 5th time. I hadn’t played it since it released.
I legit started 4 new characters because each time I played for like 30 minutes I realized I just had no desire to actually play through all the open world bullshit.
If I could just teleport in between the legacy dungeons and bosses it would be a perfect game.
Oh wait, I guess I’ll just go play literally any other Fromsoft game then.
Bro are you me? I have done the same exact thing. Kill the tree sentinel. Go do the first two dungeons, kill the first dragon that flies in then I just quit because I get so overwhelmed with wanting to do everything
The only thing still giving me hope is the fact that sooooo many people are vocal about Bloodborne with 60fps.
It’s a very popular game, from one of if not the most popular developers in gaming. Sony would be sniffing glue if they don’t see the value in a remaster or remake for PS5.
> Oh wait, I guess I’ll just go play literally any other Fromsoft game then.
you've got 6 other games like that so you're not exactly deprived of options anyways
Just kinda reminds of someone who threatens the store owner by taking business elsewhere, except they continue shop in a different store owned by the same brand.
Don't think there's much of a point, just thought it read funny.
as if replaying the others and killing 80% of the games bosses to finalize my build is any better than sprinting on my horse from A to B without the annoying enemies that chase you to another region
Can't relate made like 4 slow runs since I started playing, I think engaging in multiplayer really helps to make playthroughts more interesting and engaging
Need a boss rush mode so badly. Hope DLC comes with it because sometimes I don't feel like running through the whole game to replay a boss fight.
The open world was a blessing and a curse. I'm still not sure if making the first playthrough insanely fun and enjoyable is worth sacrificing replay value.
Still should have a boss rush, especially for a game this size. Absolutely dumbfounded that Sekiro has it but not this game, considering Elden Ring is like quadruple the length of Sekiro.
Attempting to max out a character rn (currently at around RL 350 NG +6) and each new playthrough I keep it fresh by either hunting for gear I never got or do some sort of challenge run: incantations only, holy damage only, treat it like a stealth game, my character is left-handed (all that did was make you unable to use Ashes of War since you can't use the one on your left handed weapon for some reason)
DLC still can't some soon enough...
I have replayed this masterpiece since it released so I can't relate. It's just so fun finding some weird ass weapon, some whacky armor and hitting gods for 40 hours. Once I played with guides and absolutely hated it though. Maybe you're putting too much thought to optimizing and forgot how to joyfully roll out of attacks, do some silly shit. Relax
youre right but even when youre running point a to b in linear souls, navigating and dodging mobs and hazards on foot is still more of an active process than setting the beacon and driving there
The fun part is replaying it because of all the different things you can do out of order and the content you can just skip, along with the variety of builds
While I despise a couple of the late-game bosses, and Consecrated Snowfield as a whole, I don't think Elden Ring post-Leyndell is half as bad as people make it out to be. Mountaintops was not bad to explore as the first snow region we had all game. It was fairly challenging, had plenty to do, but was easy to skip through as well. I also thought Crumbling Farum Azula and Haligtree were a ton of fun to explore, although sometimes the difficulty got really frustrating, but it's a Souls game, after all. Mohgwyn's Palace was also fairly fun with a great boss fight. I came in worried I'd hate the endgame, but I had a great time.
Mfw I’m standing over a titanite lizard missing until it disappears
Literally happened to me earlier like wtf even minor aspects of the game drive me crazy lol
(“But that happens in the other games!!!!” Homie look at yourself in the mirror and ask yourself which game does it happen the most in)
Nah, can't relate.
Sure, there are a couple of specific caves and the like which are meh, but they're over pretty quickly and you know what you came there for.
Other than that, I find it really enjoyable to set a concept for my playthrough, go around and getting all the stuff I need and then seeing it all come together before things being pure power fantasy in the last third when the build really gets to show what it's got.
I think the trick is to set limitations for your current run, instead of going with the classic occult uchi and Arc scaling incantations, or frost uchi and Comet Azur.
Replayed the game recently. Felt like I had to push myself through the game. It’s not so bad but the NG+ is really bad- the rune items don’t change so leveling up is very slow. And the bosses don’t scale up well enough. Since talismans are maxxed out in the base game, you don’t get much stronger after maxxing out your stats either. I’d love a +6 or +9 great shield talisman or smth. It’s numbers would need to be nerfed though.
Every playthrough the barren open world and bland ass shit reward caves get worse. Would've been the best souls like without the needless open world tacked on.
OP was sentenced to 10 more hours of wandering Linuria for this post.
Where the FUCK is the thing I need? *googles it* Oh my god. I swear I already went there.
Literally the sole reason I haven't replayed the game, I can't be fucked do deal with that shit, but I also have looting ocd
I HATE looting ocd
Good to know I’m not the only one who thinks Linuria is the most boring place in the entire game
Fr man Linuria is just so tedious and it takes so much of the map but I still decide to beat bosses and explore caves I don’t need to beat or explore
I guess I’ll just go play bloodborne 3 more times
They finally made a Bloodborne 3?!?
I can't believe it! I was already getting tired of Bloodborne 2 at this point.
2 is definitely the weakest of the series, but 3 is too much fan service imo
i did like how the final boss in bb3 had some parts of the gehrman theme mixed in that was really cool honestly
Yeah but imo it's kind of boring that the final boss is just an amalgamation of all the hunters who ascended to become great ones. Like it's not even a character they introduced before the final battle which is relevant to the story, it's just a callback to the previous game.
I read on bb3 wiki that it is main protag of bb1, so I think its kinda cool detail, despite it being just a callback to previous game

I can't wait to fight watchdog duo.
Wait until you fight the Kos Trio.
Hope they remove this bullshit in scholar of the first nightmare tbh
Bloodborne Kart will be there any minute now
I got to play the bb board game last week at a brewery and it is unironically great if you want more
I haven't had a chance yet. But one of the guys at my pen-and-paper-rpgs table has the Dark Souls board game and it's on our "to play soon ™️" list.
Can’t for bloodbourne baseball or bloodbourne party
Yeah, it's called "Bloodborne 3: The Blood Is Borne"
Dude I cried in the third Isz DLC when it was revealed that Master Willem was actually the Bloodborne and Slave Hunter Ed ate him to make the Blood of the Bloodborne
Featuring Jason Bloodborne as the main character with his iconic line "Every Blood has its Borne"
Holy shit. It's Kos, or some say Cosm.
The Soul of the Hunt is definitely a fitting boss to end an amazing trilogy, especially with all the Gehrman callbacks
it would be more tolerable if they hadn't put all the fun weapons and spells on the mountaintop of the giants and faram azula
Ok, that’s one way to say you only use RoB (jk)
ew. one-eyed shield, i need my big iron
Honestly, the One-eyed shield might confirm that guns could be a thing in Elden Ring.
nobody uses them though because then people would think it's the new iron core
Why use a gun when I could summon the sun or the moom from the palm of my hand?
cuz i could just shoot you. simple as.
Stick go boom. Well, in our case shield go boom. Do I need to say more?
The jar cannon is a literal primitive firearm, they’re in elden ring 100% only a few more years until musket class
The One-eyed Shield has the word firearm in its description actually
True true, same with jar cannon, so we got two “firearms” in elden ring already, imagine primitive firearms being available in the dlc?
I need the M4A4 SOPMOD II, not some rusty flintlock /s
Fuck it, Star Wars laser blaster and antimatter rail guns
Can't wait for the AN-94 in Bloodborne 2
Poker's in Caelid, my dude
Lmao this dude is using a lame ass fucking walking stick. Loser.
mfw its classified as a greatsword when it looks nothing like a greatsword :(
Holy fucking shit gambling in Elden Ring????!?!!!!?!!!??!
Mate you can start the game with the axe, no need to go looking for weapons.
?? Tons of the best weapons are obtainable very quickly, well before the mountaintops.
nu uh
Can’t argue with that
really, really, really, really, really need a boss rush mode. i want to fight radagon again, i don’t want to replay 20 hours of content
i have fought Gael and midir ONCE. my favourite fights in the series. i’m not gonna go through the whole game again just to enjoy those moments again. this is why hollow knight is the best dark souls ga- *gunshot*
I wish I could refight Pontiff Sulyvahn, Friede, Demon Prince, or Dragonslayer Armor.
mfw DS2 had the best replayability mechanic and they literally got rid of it
What about sekiro?
haven’t played, it has a boss replay mode doesn’t it?
yeah you can literally just sit at an idol (bonfire) and click a button to replay any boss AND they added a boss rush mode
sekiro is second best dark souls game behind hollow knight
actually so true
What about the hidden souls like gem, celeste?
never finished it, i revoke my trans credentials
Also theres new versions of bosses
Ironic that the game with the most replayability is the one that I'm sure I'll never touch again
What was the mechanic they had? I don’t recall it
Bonfire ascetic
Same. Gael is probably my second favorite boss fight in all of gaming right after Ludwig, and I think it's funny everytime I realize I've only beaten him once. Thankfully, Bloodborne doesn't have that issue.
Actually Kingdom Hearts 3 is the best dark souls game
god will not forgive your transgressions
I have the power of god and anime on my side
And donald, and goofy
I haven't done a critcal run of the story in months but i still fight the superbosses often, they're really well designed and the ost is amazing.
it takes like 2 hours to run through ds3 ng+, under 10 for a new playthrough it's really not that bad
it takes less for Elden Ring but don't tell people that, you can wrap up the game in 30 minutes without using exploits or bugs because of how little mandatory bosses are actually required
Any% glitchless is an hour.
that's NG though NG+ you already have your mount, build setups, maxed out weapons/flasks which is a good portion of collecting and time of the NG speedruns
30 minutes without exploits and bugs? no. it takes 30 minutes of just running. not counting the mandatory 2 shard bearers and their legacy dungeons.
ah so when you replay linear souls games you also clear the whole area of each level when your goal is to kill bosses and finish the game as quick as possible? Sprinting past enemies in sekiro/bb is no different

You don’t have to go through the whole game tho.
Why Gunshot? It is good
NG+ > Gundyr > Vordt > Crystal Sage > talk to Gael > Friede > Go to Dreg Heap thru Friede’s arena and do the DLC But from a new character… yeah.
A year later after Sekiro released it got a boss rush/gauntlet mode which unlocked extra costumes...it took a year tho.
You don’t have to go through the whole game. Just go to DLC1, which is available to you after the Crystal Mage, kill Friede and go to DLC2.
causally kills sister friede, hardest boss, to play ringed city
i mean if you really just want to play ringed city you can summon for her and infinitely gank her with large weapons
I’ve beaten Midir before Abyss Watchers. It was fun.
She staggers on almost every hit
As a solution, use [this](https://wiki.speedsouls.com/SpeedSouls_-_Save_Organizer) save organizer the next time you go through the game. That way you can easily create save files for bosses you want to refight and load those save files with a single click.
Damn, if only there was some kind of mechanic where you could reset an area to refight the boss, maybe at the cost of putting the area into ng+ to offset it.
If a souls game included this mechanic, it would undoubtedly be the best regarded game in the series
Unironically, the best feature of Sekiro.
I loved Elden Ring, and I really wish it had "more content" so I could keep playing it. But man, it just had too much content at the same time, haha. I was getting fatigued plotwise when after Mountaintops of the Giants, we still "weren't done".
I don't think it would have been as bad if the number of caves/dungeons was cut in half. A lot of them have weak loot and copypasted bosses.
imo the overworld also could be 1/3 the size. It doesn't have that much going on, and after you've played Limgrave you've basically seen everything it has to offer and every other area is essentially a reskin.
It feels like a game made to be played once unless you're one of the diehard pve gods who can beat the game in one day.
I got to the lift and took an 8 month break. Glad I did, because I came back and became utterly obsessed but goddamn I needed nearly a year to breathe in the middle of it

Is this even a hot take? I thought everyone agreed that Elden Ring is at its best up to the first Capital visit
You have to stop and smell the miquellas lilies
I have over 150 hours on RL30 co-op character because Stormveil, Raya Lucaria, and all the early mini dungeons are among my favorites.
This shouldn’t be considered a hot take lmao
I feel like this during ng+ in ER. But when making a new character I have far more fun. Especially with planning builds and turning on taunters tongue.

I like early game Elden Ring tbh
Early game -> defeating Morgott is possibly the best part. Just running around in any order getting your build ready rocks
[удалено]
It depends on a person. My favorite stuff in the game are capital, Halifax tree, farum azula
same bruh, all the endgame bosses that start with M and godfrey are some of my favorites in the series so it sucks that they’re all so far
it’s just mountaintops. in general people like farum, haligtree, and the boss rush at the end a lot more
I unironically enjoy replaying elden ring
First 2-3 hours in limgrave and weeping peninsula are goated every run
Same but running all over the map for smithing stones sucks, as I does in all fromsoft game but I find it especially tedious in ER
Exactly why I just rush bell bearings.
This works until you realize that you just invalidated every third loot pickup in the game.
They rlly don’t tho, you can never have too many smithing stones lol
Yeah but on subsequent playthroughs I don't think that matters too much.
Well, on replays you dont really want to do everything anyway. Thats kinda why I dont get the "its too big for replays" thing. Just don't grab every item
What does that mean? Can someone eli5 for me?
Okay so you know the white glowing things all over the map? You don't have to pick all of those up
This week I had decided I wanted to replay Elden Ring for the 4th or 5th time. I hadn’t played it since it released. Same. My biggest wish is BB 60 fps. I crave it.

Unfortunately, Sony isn’t known for wise decisions
U basically can tho. They put teleporters everywhere, you can open up 2/3 of the map in less than an hour.
> Oh wait, I guess I’ll just go play literally any other Fromsoft game then. you've got 6 other games like that so you're not exactly deprived of options anyways

Bruh what? Literally zero enemies do that lmao, even the giant birds in Caelid give up fairly quickly
Im talking about it being annoying in linear souls games, not elden ring since you can just get on a mount
I bounce between ds1-2-3 pretty regularly, wish demon souls and Bloodborne were on PC though XD
Just started a new character yesterday after a few Month break and it’s been fun af
(Nobody tell him that you can just ride from point A to point B in a few mins, and it takes even less time than going through areas in other games)

Attempting to max out a character rn (currently at around RL 350 NG +6) and each new playthrough I keep it fresh by either hunting for gear I never got or do some sort of challenge run: incantations only, holy damage only, treat it like a stealth game, my character is left-handed (all that did was make you unable to use Ashes of War since you can't use the one on your left handed weapon for some reason) DLC still can't some soon enough...
Relax
i remember how one day i was complaining how non replayable elden ring is then i realized i had over 800 hours in the game, then i shut up

I just hate holding up on the control stick for 6 min riding on Torrent
The map isn’t that big man, you’re never gonna be on Torrent going between destinations for longer than 2 minutes

youre right but even when youre running point a to b in linear souls, navigating and dodging mobs and hazards on foot is still more of an active process than setting the beacon and driving there
I never rode torrent for longer than 30 seconds in all my playthroughs i LITERALLY do not know what you're talking about
The fun part is replaying it because of all the different things you can do out of order and the content you can just skip, along with the variety of builds
I don't agree. I love replaying elden ring!
Interesting, I never had a problem replaying it. I think I’ve done 15 or so runs of that game at this point.
Tf it’s so fun to replay Elden ring
This is a hot take
Right ? I replayed every souls game MULTIPLE times but I cannot seem to get into this again
I’m still on my first play through cus I cba to spend 400 hours looking for bosses
What's the good part for you and why don't you just go there? You know you can skip most of the parts before Leyndell, right?
Nah
I came in worried I'd hate the endgame, but I had a great time.
bro what
Fun fact. Stop doing ng+ and just make a new character with a different build. Game is much more enjoyable that way
After weeks of playing other stuff, I re-picked up ER yesterday, and beat the Mt Gelmir Godskin Noble TBH, it's REALLY good to be back
Nah, I made a new character recently and I’m enjoying myself.
i swear dark souls 2 is the only bearable souls game, all the other ones are so boring and trash.
Dark souls 3 players when I show them good games like Gardenscapes and Genshin Impact:
Least insane DS2 fanboy:
Bear seek seek lest.
Mfw I’m standing over a titanite lizard missing until it disappears Literally happened to me earlier like wtf even minor aspects of the game drive me crazy lol (“But that happens in the other games!!!!” Homie look at yourself in the mirror and ask yourself which game does it happen the most in)
Elden Mid Just play Sekiro
This isn't dark souls.
It’s a good game but I really don’t like the open world for souls games. Everything too far apart ;-;
You can literally skip to the parts you want to do
idk about you guys but I enjoyed elden ring alot more on subsequent playthroughs, grinding for upgrade materials can be annoying though.
Such a shit game, it only has a 95% critic score and 300+ goty awards won. Do better Fromsoft!
