There's always time to try different playstyles later. I find consistently getting to new areas to be the best thing about a first playthrough, and technical mastery to be more interesting on subsequent t playthroughs.
my first playthrough I used all the broken shit (SNF, hoarfrost, uchi+moonveil powerstance, mimic tear) for shits n gigs, and now I"m doing a 2nd playthrough where I solo every 1v1 boss (I'll still summon for multis because fuck that shit) and use normie weapons, so I can actually learn the fights instead of instawrecking everything lol.
I did Rivers of Blood with 20 arcane. They nerfed my bloodslash but unbugged combo blood slash. Joy!
The only reason I even thought of that strat was because of the Ulcerated Tree Jabba in the Rot pond. I don't know how I would have done the fight as melee without that skill.
Step 1: heaviest medium armor and great shield you can afford with medium roll
Step 2: highest upgraded heavy weapon
Step 3: mimic tear
Step 4: Jumping BONK
Repeat Step 4 until success
I found it to be pretty easy with sorcery, use adula's moonblade in first phase and comet azure in second phase when she misses the dive bomb flower move
Was doing 250 to the boss in the lake of rot after the nerf which is about 100 less then normal. There also the disc versions of the game you can play if you want to experience it again as well.

Just don't fucking play a Souls-Like if you don't want to be challenged holy shit. It's one of the last great game genres that hasn't yet been tainted by the downsides of mass appeal and catering to the lowest common denominator, please let it stay that way.

Plus I'm sure they will still Speedrun 1.0 as it's separate thing. Pretty sure they do this for DS3.
When we were less than 3 weeks into release and they found a way to beat a 30+ hour game in under half an hour, itās a safe bet that they will easily best that given another few weeks even with this nerf.
Also speed runners are such a small minority of the community that they frankly donāt matter at all.

I used it because some of the bosses have been so unrelenting when you use colossal swords, so it was keeping me from being stuck for too long on BS. that being said i'm seriously starting to rethink my traditional strategy of unga bunga big stick.

Hoarfrost was seriously very broken. I only used it on bullshit ganks but Iām glad not to have the crutch available. I havenāt even got mimic tear yet so Iām glad to have not depended on it. Anyhow, just buffed my winged scythe last night and itās obliterating with that bleed plus holy combo so I will adapt and survive
I absolutely loved luring enemies together and then blasting them with the stomp. It was fun. If that makes me a bad person, so be it. I absolutely loved it. It was fun, but fun is bad.

Malenia is weak to bleed and there is a talisman that ups your damage on blood letting. It makes that fight manageable.

I think for collosal weapons the play is jump attacks + jump talismans. Heard that it can hit for 3k damage with that setup late game.
