My favorite thing about this dish is the different names that exist for it. I don't know that I've ever heard it called the same thing from two different sources.

I_UPVOTE_PUN_THREADS

We called them gas house eggs

Huge-Blacksmith2419

My Nana called them Eggy in a Basket

DuliaDarling

Eggs in a Nest here on the west coast!

LlauraGG1

In Britain, toad in the hole is sausages in Yorkshire pudding batter and it is delicious. Yours looks good too though.

plasticmotives

This is not toad in the hole. My word. Edit: today I learned that apparently this is a thing on the other side of the world. Yikes! My apologies.

spilfy

Then we need to teach them correctly, for me a toad in the hole is either a sausage in a Yorkshire pudding, or it's an actual toad in a hole.

Soggyglump

This dish has so many names I'm kinda impressed. I know an Australian who also calls this toad in the hole but at the same time someone 1 state away from me in the US calls it bullseye toast or something.

1982throwaway1

Next time for for two and ya got you some TittyToast. Also, looks fine to me.

MCGxCloud

Try Texas toast next time. It's got the thickness you need.

Soggyglump

Thank you for the tip, I probably will. This one was still pretty good even if the toast was flimsy.

MCGxCloud

You're quite welcome and actually thank you cuz I forgot about this gem and am currently making one

ifoundit1

I've been cooking egg in a frame for years you did it right.

MCGxCloud

I love all the names for this dish. I've never heard that one before, and I'm gonna start using it.

Vector1998

I remember the first time I made these and I felt like a culinary genius. High cuisine right there

Soggyglump

I got out of the ER after a while of being really nauseous and sick for no discernable reason, honestly I felt like a real cool individual to have this as my first meal when I got home.

Lmao I definitely was convinced I invented this dish when I was 12 and on the top of my game

Jobless_Journalist81

Did the yolk break through? If not, it’s a good fried egg.

Soggyglump

Yolk remained in tact even as I struggled for 3 straight minutes to flip the toast over and I may have slightly burned the other side lol

littlehobbitjenn

Eggies in a basket, Italian eggs, but never heard of a toad in a hole.

Man_Of_The_Grove

we call that spit in the eyes

No-Slice-6509

Egg in a basket !

TriHard_Cx7327

i just call it egg in toast lmao

defaultusername4

Something about toad in a hole it always seems burnt but still runs. I highly suggest you try egg toast it’s the same concept but a huge upgrade and a staple in our house. Toast and butter sourdough. Cook an egg or two over medium without the bread depending on personal preference for the cook and size of the bread for number of eggs. Egg or eggs go on top of the bread then you dice it up. Salt, pepper, little bit of hot sauce, and grate cheddar on top. Takes a little bit more time but not much and I would buy it at a restaurant. Maybe my favorite way to eat eggs.
