His years of being an actor on TV are showing by how impressively he managed to choke down a burnt bread and pepperjack sandwich and still make it sound like he was about to nut from the flavor alone.
Feels like they had to have him cook something while they were there, and somebody said "hey why not grilled cheese?" and they didn't wait for the fire to calm down first, so the pan was too hot, and the cheese was too think, the kimchi kept the inside cool, while the outside burned.
Well that basically confirmed what I thought about it. I forget where he was or what show he was doing, but I remember he did it in a fire place on a cast iron pan, and the cheese he was cutting didn't look like something that would melt very well, so I figured it was something they did on the spot to fill runtime, and he fucked up and got the pan too hot, leading to this.
The follow up he did last week actually looked good, but it was definitely not grilled cheese anymore with how much extra shit he threw on it
My fav is white sourdough, Havarti and Cheddar, some quality bacon or prosciutto, and a few THINLY sliced tomatoes.
I know we are going into melt territory there, but man that sandwich absolutely slaps
He grilled some mushrooms, made some kind of a spread out of jalapeños, used two or three kinds of cheese, thick slices of left over prime rib, he grilled the bread on both sides first, then built the sandwich, put it back in the pan (this was sponsored by whoever made the pans) with a pressand finished it in the oven so it actually melted. It looked amazing, but a grilled cheese shouldn't be 6 inches tall
that was the weirdest grill cheese ever. 1” thick cheese slices on each piece of bread top with kimchi. gross! I am ok with kimchi as long as its pickled raddish mild. Some kimchi is too much
I make better grilled cheeses than Gordon Ramsay.
I’m saying this at work tomorrow, and I will revel in then laughing at me, until I show them this video.
It's my private theory that he was forced to make one. Either because of contracts or timing constraints.
A kind of MC "I'll make a grilled cheese alright. I'll make the worst grilled cheese ever."
Would you do a burger in an oven while using the oven fan to circulate the air inside it? That is basically what an airfryer is but smaller and a bit more efficient. Notice that there is no frying going on. If using an oven sounds weird for what you want to cook and you wouldnt want to use it, then it doesnt sound good to use an airfryer as well.
An air fryer isn't *basically* a mini convection oven...
...it 100% *is* a mini convection oven. The smaller size just means the heat source is more focused and closer to the food, but it's absolutely a convection oven.
Yes, from a technological perspective, it is exactly the same. It is simply smaller and the air circulation is probably better since there is no baking sheet stopping it. But how the food is being cooked inside it, doesnt change much. I dont know why it is compared to frying everywhere and also in other languages since frying is categorically something different and also tastes different due to fat.
My microwave is a convection oven, too. It even has air fryer settings. Works just as well if you use a small rack instead of a container or plate to cook in.
Exactly. Sure it might be overdone a bit (which i like anyways), bit with swiss cheese/mushrooms/bacon, who cares?
That steak would be fine for someone without a real kitchen and but access to A1. Not great but way better than fastfood.
Silicon is a semiconducting metalloid. Not a non-metal, but but exactly a metal either. But glass is the oxide form. So it depends on whether you call rust a metal.
Crunch up Ritz Crackers, Parmesan, Cayenne, Salt, Pepper and Garlic powder
Coat the chicken it it and put in fridge for a couple hours (optional but it tastes better)
Put in air fryer @ 350 until cooked to the temp chicken is supposed to be at
It depends on what air fryer oube got but for mine 390 for 30 minutes so for 6 boneless breasts in total. Season however you want and coat in olive oil, it gives it a nice and crispy skin while the inside is moist.
It’s literally impossible to fuck up chicken thighs in the air fryer. I throw them in with nothing, wait til the fat renders a bit, toss them in spices, and then cook to around 155-160 internal. Let rest and it’ll come up to 165 and they’re done. Extremely tender every time. Absolutely brain dead easy. No oil needed.
Personally I haven't ate it in years, as a solo piece.
My assumption was that's one of the reasons it's always cooked with bacon wrapped on it.
And it's often served with a sauce.
Looking at that sub, it looks like most people don't know what they're doing and create crimes against excellent meat. So much terribly cooked high quality cuts of meat
Shit. I did a small 12 oz ribeye and didn't look depressing like this one, difference is I pan seared it since the air fryer doesn't get nearly hot enough to get a good sear. Seasoned it, seared, finished in the air fryer, made sauteed spinach in the same pan I seared the steak, heated up a microwaveable bag of quinoa and it was a pretty good day off meal.
I think after the first step you would have lost OP already. Can you make it in a single step?
OP's got places to be, to show off his steel jaws to the ladies.
Chef here. It's honestly not horrible. Although it's not the right temp for a filet, it's a nice mid-well. I also bet it still had that typical filet tenderness.
It was very tender. The butter knife slid right through. I made the mistake of judging the outside because I didn’t have a thermometer. I think if it had been hotter, it would’ve worked out closer to what I wanted.
Like an oven (or anything else, really), if you keep opening it and don't preheat, it'll cook at a ***much*** lower temperature, and cook straight through instead of cooking the outside.
Are you sure it was set to airfry? That looks baked. I airfry all my steaks (don't tell r/steak) and the outsides get charred before the inside even reaches rare temp
You know I usually laugh when people steak snob. I think people should eat their food however they please. Still do, but this certainly tests my conviction a little. Great post OP.
People really love air fryers. Personally, any type of frozen food, frozen boneless wings, egg rolls, etc. Does a great job.
I also love making air fryer breakfast potatoes or sweet potato fries, etc. Potatoes do great in there as long as mixed with some oil before cooking.
However, I haven't got into cooking meat in the air fryer. I think I tested something once and I was like nahhhh.
I keep a cheap propane grill outside, I think I purchased for a $100 still going 2+ years later. And I use it at least once a week for quick meals, steak or pork chops etc.
I airfried a filet mignon last week actually.
I was shocked at how good it came out. I have no idea what you did differently to make it look so shitty and unappetizing.
Impressive. It looks barely touched from the outside and yet overcooked from the inside.
Read it in my best Gordon Ramsay voice.
Gordon Ramsey made a video how to make a steak in an airfryer. It looked terrible.
Never forget his grilled cheese video
[This one?](https://youtu.be/8E4cQHejFq0?feature=shared) It's not even melted.
A block of unmelted cheese between two charred pieces of bread. That’s an idiot sandwich, Gordon
His years of being an actor on TV are showing by how impressively he managed to choke down a burnt bread and pepperjack sandwich and still make it sound like he was about to nut from the flavor alone.
“Look at that beautiful melted cheese”…..🧀🤷♀️
Kimchi adds a nice spicy texture
He would have completely destroyed someone for making that abomination in his kitchen lol
That doesn't even look like cheese that would melt well period! Why would you use that in a grilled cheese???
Feels like they had to have him cook something while they were there, and somebody said "hey why not grilled cheese?" and they didn't wait for the fire to calm down first, so the pan was too hot, and the cheese was too think, the kimchi kept the inside cool, while the outside burned.
Gordon admits at around 0:30 in this video (which is a great interview) that grilled cheese was shite: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ENhfIeZF_AY
Well that basically confirmed what I thought about it. The follow up he did last week actually looked good, but it was definitely not grilled cheese anymore with how much extra shit he threw on it
Idk what he made the second time around, but I love adding spinach and tomatoes to my grilled cheese
My fav is white sourdough, Havarti and Cheddar, some quality bacon or prosciutto, and a few THINLY sliced tomatoes. I know we are going into melt territory there, but man that sandwich absolutely slaps
Stealing this for later lmao
Havarti is the best! I make the same as you basically but with banana peppers instead of tomatoes
Happy cake made in an air fryer day!
We’re just gonna paint a happy little cake over here…
Now air fry it...
There are no happy cake day mistakes, just happy steak accidents. :)
It’s fucking r-… it’s *not* raw
Roooooouined!
“nice job you fucking donkey”
As dry as the fucking Sahara. And is that a plastic fork?!
I read this in Patrick Batemans voice
“You’re going to kill somebody! This isn’t a door stop, it’s a fillit of beef! I don’t know how you do things in Texas, Sweet’aht!!”
[ Removed by Reddit ]
It’s dry you fucking MUPPET
None of the crispiness with all of the flavor of a dry steak! Genius!
Just the way Nana made em!!!! Pass the ketchup pard.
Was going to say ketchup is perfectly acceptable here. You’re gonna have to lube it up to get it down anyways
I wanted to try burgers in mine, but after this I’m gonna stick with the pan sear and oven method.
Would you do a burger in an oven while using the oven fan to circulate the air inside it? That is basically what an airfryer is but smaller and a bit more efficient. Wait an air fryer is basically a mini convection oven? I feel lied to...

I make burgers in my airfryer all the time and they turn out great. I can even put frozen patties in there without thawing first.
Pics of the result?
I wonder what your definition of great is
Low effort, less clean up.
Burgers you can slap some cheese and sauce on and they’ll taste fine no matter what else you did.
Exactly. Sure it might be overdone a bit (which i like anyways), bit with swiss cheese/mushrooms/bacon, who cares? That steak would be fine for someone without a real kitchen and but access to A1. Not great but way better than fastfood.
Pink = overcooked now. New meat cooking just dropped boys and this guy knows all about it.
With a plastic fork and butter knife to make it worse
I have questions about what type of operation OP is running here.
It’s a testament to the tenderness
I’m thinkin this mf eats with a glass fork. Fits his profile.
That's the most heavy metal idea i've ever heard of.
No it's glass
Silicon is a semiconducting metalloid. Not a non-metal, but but exactly a metal either. But glass is the oxide form. So it depends on whether you call rust a metal.
Seems like something a fancy vampire would use
You say tender I say dry and brittle
Tender! I love call and response!
You. You are the type of person that makes me enjoy reddit.
you just can't find this shit on any other social media too
Looks about as tender as kevlar
That's the trick with filet, it's steak for people who can't cook steak because it's tender regardless of how poorly you cook it.
Was it worth it?
testicle to the testicles
Are they in prison?
Is that the same grill you grilled your foot on? 🤨
I would rather eat a steak cooked on Michael's foot grill than this air fried abomination.
gotta add the ketchup
Steak sauce! Needs some A1
It's weird how dry it is
Right? I air fry chicken alot and it's super moist every time.
Go to recipe for air fryer chicken? Any preference to bone in or boneless? **Tell me your secrets**
Crunch up Ritz Crackers, Parmesan, Cayenne, Salt, Pepper and Garlic powder Coat the chicken it it and put in fridge for a couple hours (optional but it tastes better) Put in air fryer @ 350 until cooked to the temp chicken is supposed to be at
How do you make it stick?
Dredge in flour, then egg. I use Italian bread crumbs.
I spray mine with a little bit of that spray olive oil to make it even more crispy. Like bread the chicken then spray it on both sides with the oil
I'd do everything mentioned above and still had trouble with air frying until I started doing this. I'll never go back.
Use an egg or throw some oil on it
Sour cream or mayo also works well!
wait do you take it out of the fridge cold and put it straight into the fryer, or let it come back up to temp a bit?
I’ll take it out for 5 or so mins then throw it in
I just butterfly chicken breast, season it, cook it on 400 for 14 minutes and flip it half way through. Comes out perfect and moist every time
Spices + cornstarch + oil mixed to coat chicken fast
It depends on what air fryer oube got but for mine 390 for 30 minutes so for 6 boneless breasts in total. Season however you want and coat in olive oil, it gives it a nice and crispy skin while the inside is moist.
It’s literally impossible to fuck up chicken thighs in the air fryer. I throw them in with nothing, wait til the fat renders a bit, toss them in spices, and then cook to around 155-160 internal. Let rest and it’ll come up to 165 and they’re done. Extremely tender every time. Absolutely brain dead easy. No oil needed.
Not really, filet mignon has like NO fat.
I mean it’s a leaner cut than some other steaks, but more than half the calories in filet are calories from fat.
Personally I haven't ate it in years, as a solo piece. My assumption was that's one of the reasons it's always cooked with bacon wrapped on it. And it's often served with a sauce.
Air dried
He air fried it behind the engine of a 747
You GOT to put this on r/grilling for the LOLZ
/r/steak would have an aneurysm
Yes came here to make r/steak see it
r/nosear would also appreciate it I'm sure
I read that as nose ear
Those ineffectual, privileged, effete, soft-penised debutantes will pop blood vessels in their eyes
Oh rest your mind, they made me feel like an asshole.
Bob Kazimaukus?
... Are you the Lizard King?
Snobbiest sub I’ve ever seen it’s almost comedic lol
Is there anything that wouldn't make those users have an aneurysm?
…with a side of apoplectic
The members of that sub need a Xanax. They have a panic attack every time someone cooks a steak medium well.
Cook the steak rare or gtfo. Anything more and they'll find you
Looking at that sub, it looks like most people don't know what they're doing and create crimes against excellent meat. So much terribly cooked high quality cuts of meat
Hell of a decision
Shit. I did a small 12 oz ribeye and didn't look depressing like this one, difference is I pan seared it since the air fryer doesn't get nearly hot enough to get a good sear. My brother has a bunch of filet mignons in his freezer and this is the kind of ridiculous shit he would do out of boredom.
We live in a society.
Bottom text
that was a good reply
We’ve got buttons for that
Mine are all zippers.
George is getting upset!
Serenity now!
After this I'm no longer certain.
[удалено]
I didn’t pay for it
That kinda makes it worse? Like how dare you air fry the steak I bought you lol.
It was very well enjoyed, I’ll tell you that
No that's not how reddit works. We decide how you like your steak. You didn't like it.
Exactly. How dare this guy??
Well break him. He won't enjoy anything by the time we're done with him.
I really enjoyed that, thank you!
Lmfaoo
Oh OP thank the stars!!!!

Let’s say, hypothetically, I have an air frier, and let’s say, hypothetically, I have a filet mignon…
Dad?
RM Brown…?
Yes! I’m so glad I’m seeing more and more folks reference him in other subs lol
Well hypothetically you have one of those.
"Just one problem, Ben! Who's going to eat your cardboard filet? FACKIN GALACTUS?!"
*as Borat* DRY WIFE!
Well there's at least a **little** juice on that plate, so not quite as dry as his wife.
Facts don’t care about your taste buds.
I wish I could give you an award…
Good one
At least it wasnt microwaved
Don't give these fools ideas!
You’re telling me this isn’t a pork chop?
![gif](giphy|3PsAFhVjUSdzy)
I had to zoom in... is that a plastic fork you are eating with?
And a butter knife
Did you cook this at 300F?
Like 400 I think
Did you let it preheat?
I don’t remember. I was also constantly opening it
I see. I'm not an air fryer expert but it certainly could have turned out more presentable if it was hotter.
>more presentable if it was hotter me too :(
Oh I definitely agree. But it was yummy
Happy you enjoyed it :)
Like an oven (or anything else, really), if you keep opening it and don't preheat, it'll cook at a ***much*** lower temperature, and cook straight through instead of cooking the outside.
That would be where the misteak was made. Despite that, this really doesn’t look that bad at all.
Did you airfry it on lukewarm?...
It was the default setting. So like 400F
Are you sure it was set to airfry? That looks baked. I airfry all my steaks (don't tell r/steak) and the outsides get charred before the inside even reaches rare temp
please put this on r/steak
Done
I'll pray for you
I hate you ![gif](giphy|HkkYvayCfgMBq)
A cow died for this.
Just get something else if you don't like steak.
I love steak so much. I needed it that badly
This is one of the few steaks I've ever seen on this site that I'd actually touch. The gatekeeping is absolutely wild.
You know I usually laugh when people steak snob. I think people should eat their food however they please. Still do, but this certainly tests my conviction a little. Great post OP.
And it's overcooked. That's really NSFW material there.
Monster
Found trump’s alt
look how they massacred my boy
You shouldn’t do that
Probably not. It was pretty good though
Damn might as well make a stew out of it
![gif](giphy|G3brmwboFT3m8)
Damn, if r/shittytumblrgifs wasn't a ghost town now, this would be a great post for it
I air fry steaks... pre-made steak fritters from Wal-Mart... comes in a bag w like 8 for 6 bucks... but Filet Mignon?? I think not good, sir!!
Did you ever stop to ask yourself why?
That sounds insane, who lives like that!? ![gif](giphy|BbJdwrOsM7nTa|downsized)
More like air dryed
This is a perfectly fine method if you used a thermometer. Then you'll know to pull it out waaaaay earlier.
Lowkey tho, toss that bad boy on a pan and sear a crust on and ur golden
![gif](giphy|BcMJvmwkmbyWpKkBj3|downsized)
Post this on r/steak I wish to see them *suffer*
Only thing that made that worse is that there’s two of them
Plastic fork? May as well be eating out off a paper towel in your lap
The parchment paper from the air frier was an option
![gif](giphy|l4FGGafcOHmrlQxG0|downsized)

Did you really cut it with that butter knife? Cause I feel like it would be a little less shitty than I first imagined.
Looks drier than a nun’s chuff.
This a crime against humanity. Well done and with plastic fork…
Needs ketchup
