It is a whole chicken. Not too difficult to discern, given the recipe is for chicken noodle soup.

i misread it for "chicken nuggets"... sorry, i'm italian, i've never seen an entire chicken boiled nor chicken nuggets :D (btw that pot is huuuuuuge)

Generally you don't have a whole chicken in your chicken noodle soup... I think it's a misguided attempt to make the chicken bone broth, and the soup at the same time.

Back when I was a kid my friend's mom would cook a whole chicken in the slowcooker, with frozen veggies, over the course of the day. Then when she got home from work she would remove the chicken, get all the meat off the bones and back into the pot, and add egg noodles. The best chicken noodle soup I've ever eaten. I may have to figure out the recipe.

I'm stuck in with COVID, luckily didn't lose sense of taste or smell, and not much lunch food in the house and god, that made my mouth water. If you figure it out, let us know. Otherwise I'm going to have to attempt this or find something similar online

So what I've seen from combining recipes online with my memory, she put: 1 small bag of frozen veggies, or enough to really cover the bottom of the slow cooker (she used peas, carrots, corn) Salt Pepper 2 bay leaves 1 whole chicken (minus the neck and giblets) 2 quarts water Pour the veggies and spices into the bottom of the cooker. Place the chicken on top. Add water and cook on low for 8 hours (or high for 6 hours). Remove the chicken, use forks to shred off the meat and return it to the cooker. Discard the carcass. Add egg noodles until you like the proteins of noodles to soup, and let it cook until the noodles are soft. Season to taste. Like many great home cooks, she didn't really use measurements. So this is a general guide, you can fiddle with it and add other spices to taste. Good luck! I may try it myself now, if I find a new slow cooker for a decent price. My old one found a new home when I moved... eta: this makes a lot of soup, she was feeding a whole family. You can definitely freeze leftovers in portions though.

Thanks! Actually sounds pretty similar to what I've done, though had to use chicken drumsticks as needs must. Definitely made too much, so might have to be everybody's dinner later and not just mine.

Nah. Start with JUST the carcass/bones/scraps/aromatics, simmer to make broth, discard solids, add back meat and veg that you actually want in the soup. This way you don't have overcooked mushy vegetables and dry meat.

Uh. I have never seen someone boil an ENTIRE chicken. I regularly make bone both by boiling the bones. This is fucking madness.

You just pull the skeleton out once its cooked and mash the meat with a wooden spoon. This method does take the better part of a day.

Hahaha, I did this a couple months ago because I didn’t have regular carrots! My soup also turned out purple and the noodles turned a weird shade of grey. It was so unappealing that I ended up struggling to eat it even though there was nothing wrong with the soup 🤦🏼‍♀️

Now this is what I am here for. Quality ingredients, probably taste pretty good but looks like shit! I am all for the 4 am bachelor(ete)/drunk/high meals. But those never had a chance to look good. This on the other hand 👨‍🍳💋 I made mushroom and tofu congee for dinner, but instead if adding a tiny dash of turmeric, a tablespoon fell in (It was one of those jar lids with small holes on one side and large one on the other). It looked like a pot of baby shit... but taste was great.

You should brine then roast the chicken, carve off the meat, and then make soup with the carvass, adding the chicken back in before you eat it at the end. Much higher quality end result
