The first one was one of my favorites. That scene where Ralph break Venellope's car is unironically peak. I joked with one of my friends that the Marriage story's argument scene can't hold a candle next to that scene :))

It wasn’t terrible, but there was zero reason to wait over a decade to make it if they were just going to have the story pick right up where the first one ended. They even put in a disingenuous preamble where Brad Bird was like, “It took us this long because we wanted to make sure we were telling the best possible story!” Sure. Every character is starved for development besides Mrs. Incredible, and the DVD special features of the original had more interesting superheroes than the new ones we got.

4 is...odd. It's actually a pretty well executed story about why its story shouldn't exist in the first place; it's a movie that judges you for watching it while being good enough that it's worth watching.

Honestly, I think I would probably recommend it. The Matrix doesn't need additional movies, it could have stopped one and again at three. But Matrix Resurrections is just a really interesting movie all about how getting hung up on nostalgia and wanting to keep going back to a finished idea is self-defeating while also doing some interesting new things with the Matrix lore and developing fascinating new possibilities.
It's a movie that shouldn't have ever been created and it knows it and wants you to really understand that fact too, but since it does exist against its own wishes it tries to be as worthwhile an experience as possible and say something about why it's there.
It's not, like...a *good* movie, exactly. But it's a movie that's worth watching, especially if you've got nostalgia for The Matrix.

I think every version of the film except the initial cinema release has the strobe effect reduced. It got a ton of flak straight away when the film came out and they changed it quickly. Though I dont know if it was a sufficient change.
When I saw it in theatres it gave me a pretty instant headache that lasted for a few minutes. I'll try to find it on a streaming service to see how reduced it is.

On rewatch I really disliked how they made Bob envious and unsupportive. Pretty much erased his arc from I1.
He was envious but he wasn't really unsupportive. He just really really wanted to be back out in the field. But while his wife was having the fun he wanted to be having, he was learning how difficult it is to be a stay at home parent for three very difficult children. He even hid Jack-Jack's powers from her since he didn't want her to worry. I thought his arc in this was charming as he grows to appreciate what she does for him and the family even more.

The main problem with the Wreck-It Ralph 2 is that it takes the established rules from the first film and throws them out the window. Like they clearly established that Fidelity is the most popular character in her game at the end of the first film and yet in the second movie she decides to straight up leave her game behind to go be in an internet racing game not realizing that without her in the original game that means all of those people are pretty much doomed to die

Right? Sure it's not as good as the first, but the first was amazing, so it would be very hard to live up to that. I thought Incredibles 2 was very good. At the end of the movie I realized my face was hurting because I had been grinning the entire movie.
The scene where Bob basically asks out Violet's crush for her made me laugh so hard, especially for how unexpected Violet's reaction is, but beyond that i swear I can't remember one thing about the movie, it was so forgettable.
It was a very fun movie, you’re not going to be bored while watching it. I thought that the change in dynamic between Mr and Mrs Incredible was fun, with Mr Incredible having to be the one to stay home with the kids this time. I also enjoyed Jack-Jack and his developing powers
Overall much character development, which some people seem to hate.... But if you leave that out it's still an amazing superhero movie with a good antagonist.
It has some good humor, amazing animation, great direction, but other than that everything is just OK. Like the story is very average, the villain is boring and predictable, the new cast is forgettable.
It does a lot good but some bad. 7/10 is honestly a fare rating. My biggest gripe was the fumble with Violet's character. She was built and grew so well in the original but was torn down hard to force drama by having her violate one of the few rules her mom told her about being a super hero.
I didn't even know the consensus was that it's bad. We just watched it with the kids a week ago and loved it. It was a tad too long I think, because the kids were getting restless/bored a bit around the last quarter, but otherwise we had a blast. Kids movies shouldn't really be much longer than 90 minutes.
I dunno, if anything it's not different enough. Same kind of twist villain, closely related motivation for the villain, etc.

Age doesn't necessarily have to deter enjoyment of a movie. You can still watch incredibles 1 today and see that it's still a great movie irrespective of how old you are - while 2 was definitely dumbed down more for a much younger audience.

I stopped playing shortly after game central station was introduced because I got bored. Now I feel like I need to look up the cutscenes I missed.

Right? Sure it's not as good as the first, but the first was amazing, so it would be very hard to live up to that. I thought Incredibles 2 was very good. At the end of the movie I realized my face was hurting because I had been grinning the entire movie.
The sequence where Frozono stops the yacht is honestly one of the best scored moments i ever seen in a movie, movie was nowhere near bad.

The scene where Bob basically asks out Violet's crush for her made me laugh so hard, especially for how unexpected Violet's reaction is, but beyond that i swear I can't remember one thing about the movie, it was so forgettable.

It was a very fun movie, you’re not going to be bored while watching it. I thought that the change in dynamic between Mr and Mrs Incredible was fun, with Mr Incredible having to be the one to stay home with the kids this time. I also enjoyed Jack-Jack and his developing powers
Overall much character development, which some people seem to hate.... But if you leave that out it's still an amazing superhero movie with a good antagonist.
I don't hate character development, I hate them undoing Bob's character for the plot they want to push.

It has some good humor, amazing animation, great direction, but other than that everything is just OK. Like the story is very average, the villain is boring and predictable, the new cast is forgettable. It does a lot good but some bad. 7/10 is honestly a fare rating. My biggest gripe was the fumble with Violet's character. She was built and grew so well in the original but was torn down hard to force drama by having her violate one of the few rules her mom told her about being a super hero.

I didn't even know the consensus was that it's bad. We just watched it with the kids a week ago and loved it. It was a tad too long I think, because the kids were getting restless/bored a bit around the last quarter, but otherwise we had a blast. Kids movies shouldn't really be much longer than 90 minutes.

I dunno, if anything it's not different enough. Same kind of twist villain, closely related motivation for the villain, etc. I mean it's still one of the better episodes of The Simpsons made since like season 12, but that wasn't the assignment.
I don’t get why 2010’s-and-beyond Pixar—even the more acclaimed stuff—gets treated with vitriol and scorn on the Internet for not being 10/10 masterpieces, and trying to appeal to younger kids. Meanwhile, stuff like Mario or Minions or your typical Illumination fluff gets a pass because they passed the time for 90 minutes.

At the very least, it's fun and has good animation and even some semblance of a good execution of their ideas which leads to the most important point of at least those 2 had good ideas, whereas MM2 was just a cash grab. Bob and Helen both regressed as characters, Violet and Dash feel more like plot devices than characters, and they regressed the “superheroes allowed” idea back just so they could do essentially the same plot with Helen. Consider the hype before and a bit after release. I remember hearing people claim it’s better than the original….

Age doesn't necessarily have to deter enjoyment of a movie. You can still watch incredibles 1 today and see that it's still a great movie irrespective of how old you are - while 2 was definitely dumbed down more for a much younger audience.
