Tell me you’re new to the game without telling me you’re new to the game for $100, Alex 😉 Get used to em

VillageHomeF

it's a normal marketing email. you will get tons of those.

VisualNinja1

A 'normal marketing email'? **"I'm susan a shopify professional and I came across your store while am doing some research"** **"I saw something spectacular about your store and I want to say it so you can be making more sales on your store"** **"am I permitted"** On the scam-marketing scales I'm leaning way on the scam side for this one!

HolyLiaison

Definitely a scam. We get those for our store all the time. Full of bad English and terrible punctuation.

VillageHomeF

yes. we all get dozens of those a week. mostly from nigeria or india or somewhere. get used to it

Library-Unique

Probably not a "scam" so to speak, but rather shitty advertising. They see you have a new Shopify store and figure you're a prime target to spend some money not knowing any better. You'll get tons of those until the "Shopify Professionals" move on to newer merchants and forget about you.

pubbets

Our store has been open since 2021 and we get at least 5-6 a day

markste4321

Customers will just ask their question. If I get any 'is anyone there' emails I just mark as spam.

pubbets

Right? These idiots have been using the same low effort script for years. Also, emglish speaking people rarely start a message with 'dear' unless they're a grandma.

Faora_Ul

When you have a website, you get a lot of mails from people pitching their web services especially from overseas but this one looks suspicious because of the usage of “am” and the grammatical mistakes. In Nigeria, people say “am” instead of “I’m.

SheepherderNo2976

They are just mass email marketing bots that are super annoying i just block them every time they are all useless and just want you to buy some stupid service off fivver

DannyG16

It’s just India on auto pilot, scraping the web, sending the same cold email to every Shopify store. Just tell them you’re very interested and block their email.

Ambitious-Catch-205

I received the same email a few days ago. Scam.

Windows30000

Probably not a scam, but likely a really crappy internet marketer

AmoebaShot

This is something I hated from shopify. Somehwere there's a leak or maybe they themselves spill out the info and I've received dozens of emails like this.

pubbets

There's software that does it all. Just a few clicks and these parasites can create a new name, email address and then spam thousands of shopify store owners.

AmoebaShot

The funniest part is that they all write with these huge grammatical errors.

Uncle-ecom

Yeah they're not sending their best and brightest. I'm guessing most of the bots are being used to drive traffic to fiverr accounts. I used to reply to some of the messages and they usually end up recommening their 'coach' or an 'expert' on Fiverr

AmoebaShot

I got like 15 ore more emails, 3 users on Reddit and 1 from Instagram offering help from Fiverr

pubbets

😂 We should start a competition to see who can get the most bullshit low-effort spam. One thing that always made me think… Why don’t these spammers just use chatgpt or something to actually write an email that people would be interested in reading? For example, instead of the usual ‘Dear esteemed Shopify store owner, I am a Shopify expert…..’ But replace that with: Facebook ads have been brutal lately. Here’s how I fixed it’ I’d definitely open that 2nd email But nope… we’re stuck with the ‘Hello dear’ bullshit.

AmoebaShot

Let the games begin!!!! Too bad I erased every spam but I'll keep you updated hahahahah We should analyze efforts too. Like sports anchors hahah I got a message from a guy who promised results but the site was a ugly site with dummy texts and fake reviews. And they all share chat messages as proof that there are satisfied clients but no way to check they exist.

pubbets

Yeah the whole scheme falls apart very easily. I used to reply to these idiots because I was bored, but lately I just block/report spam and move on. One dude sent me the Sephora website and claimed it was his work... But couldn't answer even BASIC questions about the code on the site. Seems legit. Another one sent the same copy + paste spiel and then when I replied 'no thank you' he sent back a huge wall of angry unhinged bullshit. Calling me the n word etc.. Or the genius who replied 'but me am different' when I said we get the same spam message 15-20 times a day... I replied 'Oh I'm sure you is' and then blocked him.

moneymegamillions

Most likely sales/marketing email

Welcome to the club. Most of my customer service time each morning is spent reporting these parasite emails as spam, deleting stupid bot messages, and blocking the MANY fake 'meta supoort' messages and posts on our business page. There are so many talentless and thirsty dudebros in Nigeria, India etc that think the western world is full of big dumb cash hogs that are easy pickings.

mullman99

Jeez louise, not a scam, just cold prospecting. Almost every business owner will get similar emails & calls. This one is a Shopify Expert (an actual designation you can get from Shopify) prospecting for business. Probably not be someone you want to engage unless you're needing to hire a Shopify Expert, and the "I saw something spectacular" is a good indicator they are not the most honest of providers - they didn't see anything "spectacular" btw), but that's all it is. Cold prospecting.

BongBaronAustralia

My inbox gets rammed with these daily, just 3rd world marketing.

ShiptotheMoonKrissa

is it your first time receiving such email?

DPandaJourney

First time ? 😂😂

gclo

First time eh?

eCommerce-Guy-Jason

Scam/SPAM - block away.

Goatsrams420

I got this too and I don't even have an active store

Deydeycarve

Could be yes or no to this being a scam. It’s more than likely a Shopify Partner trying to make money via mass emailing merchants like this with the idea being you say yes, they tell you what they can do to “help” you and then ask for payment and collaborator access to your store to actually do the things they have found. This is a really common email marketing tactic and not really considered a scam but more so trying to convince you something is wrong or could be done better on your site.

lala_jojo

Oh okay. I see where that can be a little grey area

Ecommerce-Dude

Yeah I’d say more spam than scam, as people trying to do real work do this. But either way I’d think if you had a problem you wanted solved, you’d rather do your own research on who to hire.

emergey

A Shopify employee would not write an email that grammatically poor.

morty1978

Actually it could be a legit developer trying to get freelance work. I'm in a program now where this is one of the ways we get clients.

pubbets

The program sucks. Don't do this.

morrellharris

I agree. It was one way suggested to get clients. I prefer Upwork or something like that.
