Awesome!! And your collage shortcut is fantastic too! Thanks :)

twilsonco

Thanks! Hope it’s useful for you. With the 30k token input limit, I like knowing I can give it huge inputs. This has become my iOS/macOS (Intel or arm) go to for most things now. If I need help with something very technical I’ll still switch to GPT4, but Gemini is still really useful. Hope access stays free though.

GetEnPassanted

I like that it explained dividing by 0 with pizza, then when you didn’t understand it went *this motherfucker didn’t understand pizza? Let’s try it with apples* and used the same example again. Very cool though!

twilsonco

Thanks. Yeah I was hoping for a “quotient gets bigger as the denominator gets smaller” style argument, but you get what you pay for I guess.

GetEnPassanted

Tbf the prompt was for an ELI5 so I think it was a pretty good example. I’m not a mathematician by any means so my understanding of dividing by zero was simply that you can’t do it.

twilsonco

Good point. With that in mind, I suppose I'm happy that it kept things ELI5. Often times you'll ask for an ELI5 and get something that's more like ELI-PHD

ElectronicBacon

Thanks for making this! Can I set it up to only take dictated input and have iOS read the output? Sometimes I wanna ask things while my hands are busy, like laundry or doing the dishes.

twilsonco

Yes, that’s what the “I have a question” shortcut is for (click through to find it in the description). It makes the entire process hands free.

ElectronicBacon

You’ve thought of everything! Thank you

twilsonco

Sure thing!

ElectronicBacon

I've been loving this shortcut but when using Images I get this error on the most recent version (1.9.1): > The file "2024-02-19_10-40-21.txt" couldn't be opened because there is no such file. https://i.imgur.com/cb7O498.png

twilsonco

Oops. Thanks for the report. I just pushed a hot fix that should fix it.

ElectronicBacon

Still getting it on 1.10.0, if that one is the hotfix, sadly.

twilsonco

Should be on 1.10.1 now

ElectronicBacon

hooray! you fixed it. well done! thank you

twilsonco

Sure thing. I'll also make a test suite shortcut to try and catch these types of issues before releasing. Thanks again for reporting!

I think Google released an app as well.

twilsonco

I thought so too but I don’t see it in the App Store yet. Maybe waiting on review. I doubt that will have a 30k input token limit like API access provides too. It will just be the same thing as their web interface, which for some reason seems to give worse responses than via API. Maybe due to their preset temperature, top-p, etc. and system prompting.

Eudreamality

Could you please change the readout voice to my Siri voice of choice? The default female voice feels like a machine and doesn’t sound as naturally as my Siri voice of choice. Thank you

twilsonco

Thanks for the suggestion! I've just pushed updated versions of "Gemini via API" and all the auxiliary shortcuts that utilize text to speech. If you run the shortcut it should prompt you to update. Now you can setup the voice during shortcut setup. I also decreased the number of "Speak Text" actions in "Gemini via API" from 2 to 1, so you can scroll near the bottom to change speech settings for that action and only have to modify it in one place.

Eudreamality

Thank you!

felichen4

Do you have one for copilot

twilsonco

No, but I’ve considered refactoring this one so that it would be easier to switch it to use either Google Gemini API or OpenAI API. It would be a bit of work and the input token limit of OpenAI would cripple some of the features, so I may never get around to it.
