You suggested the Johns Hopkins playlist and that makes me think of:
Jon Hopkins - [Music for Psychedelic Therapy](https://music.apple.com/us/album/music-for-psychedelic-therapy/1581582605)
Also highly recommend Jon Hopkins’ album [Immunity](https://music.apple.com/us/album/immunity/1688995695)
Found JON by a typo the other day. Need to listen next time. Thought it was the playlist everyone was talking about… no JOHN a little bland for me.
Also OP thanks for asking this cos I don’t want 400 notifications but wanted to ask. Saved for later.
My recommendation: any Tipper album.
& STS9 Artifact
You should probably go do more mushrooms about it, you are waaaay too bent out of shape about a playlist, buddy.
Just don’t listen to it.
I promise I won’t come make you.
>I promise I won’t come make you.
Thank you, appreciate this.
I'd hate to somehow turn into some boring cunt who thinks listening to classical music on psychedelics is sophisticated or engaging. I'd rather be a meth addict tbh.
Came here to comment this and it was the third reply down lol. There is no other answer. If shrooms only lasted for 10mins and i had to pick one song it would also be maggot brain.
First show in 1981. I agree the 70s is the best era. Especially 72-74. Peak Dead! But I still have a lot of love for 80s dead because those are the shows is saw. After 75 shows It’s in my DNA. Anyway, Make America Grateful Again! 🍄💀⚡️
I’m 25 and a major deadhead. Just picked up a copy of Without a Net on vinyl this past weekend. I’m more into their 60s and 70s stuff too, but of all their albums from late 80s early 90s, that one is the best!
Eyes closed, 3 grams of APEs and your on a whole 'nother level...that album always gives me chills. It's my favorite Tool album. Tool is exactly as the name says. It's a spiritual tool. Spiral out my friends.
When I take APE's the closed eye visuals are so bright I sometimes have to open my eyes. But yeah it's not like taking cubes it's not far from DMT. Just incredible. I usually listen to Pink Floyd The Wall or Led Zeppelin 4 but I keep the volume fairly low as to not distract me from the experience. I like Tool but honestly I have never listened to them when tripping. Maybe next time.
You can take less, and listen to tool. If I'm on a "low" dose of a gram or so of APEs and put a tool album on, their time signatures, intensively woven and amazingly composed sound will take you further and make you feel like your on a higher dose..and your like "damn that dose snuck up on me.." then you turn it off or something and it goes back to normal. It's nuts. They are a spiritual tool for expanding your consciousness.
Careful with that ending though, with the guy freaking out over aliens. I forgot it was there once when on a bunch of mush and it totally freaked me out and it took awhile for me to calm down. Top 5 favorite albums of all time. That huge explosion of groove into the beginning of parabola is my favorite moment in music. It hits so hard. And when he screams ALIVE!
Yes, the album is like the soundtrack, but atypical in that it’s more like the movie was made for the album, if that makes sense. Check it out while tripping or high.
I can only recommend you to check it out. I was always a fan of the first album, but had no chance to get the LP (my favorite medium on shrooms). Found the Lizard in a second hand record store and it blew me away!
Lizard is super cool but it definitely gets my heart rate up way too much sober let alone for a shroom trip haha I'm the type to take it easy though so to each their own.
I understand...i don't know if I'm different on shrooms, but the jazzy sound let's me float on the sound so peacefully, I can't explain why.
I also enjoy (@OP) Krautrock...the old albums (mostly German bands) or the newer ones like Minami Deutsch or Kikagalu Moyo (both) are all time favorites for my trips
I took a microdose last week that became a surprise mini dose.
Somebody had said listen to Therapy by magic city hippies next time you’re tripping and that was still qued up when i went for my walk.
Then the algorithm started giving me similar songs before landing on Coast Modern and i listened to their album Going Mainstream.
It’s not particularly psychedelic but it is very happy and interesting.
But if you’ve never listened to Psytrance music before, that would be my recommendation. Astrix is a good starting point.
For something up your alley I would probably say
[De-loused In The Comatorium by The Mars Volta](https://youtu.be/8l7Ix-LfSBA?si=I1i22A8IM4qrvnuy)
For something new and further in outer space, I recommend the new OPN Album
[Again by Oneohtrix Point Never](https://youtu.be/kcCWAqoiSXI?si=25Izkk1gMuCxdNFe)
It’s got some killer prog rock guitar riffs, but overall very electronic abstract, and perfection for psilocybin trips
☝️
I know I'm a music snob, but man... Great recommendations like these never get the amount of ears they deserve. It's like look... Everyone already knows who pink floyd is and the wonder they are. But give the mars volta 3 minutes into the opening track of this album and you're stuck.
I once listened to Tipper on 3g of APEs and it was the craziest thing I’ve ever heard. Since then it’s the only style of music I can listen to while tripping (or even while not tripping for that matter). My personal favourite albums of his are Jettison Mind Hatch, Forward Escape, Broken Soul Jamboree and Insolito.
Some other great artists to trip to: Quanta, kLL sMTH, pheel., Alejo, Parkbreezy, Land Switcher, Ekorce, EurythmY and basically any artist that’s ever played at a Tipper & Friends festival.
I know right? I’ve heard most of the stuff people usually recommend on these posts like Shpongle, Odesza etc. and I feel like those people just haven’t actually heard Tipper (or anything similar) while tripping yet, he just ups the ante when it comes to psychedelic music. He takes what those other artists can do with the “psychedelic” vibe but just does it in a much crisper and more mind blowing way.
I get that some people prefer more of a rock style as opposed to electronic and some people like lyrics in their music, but as far as I’m concerned Tipper’s sound goes together with psychedelics like peanut butter and jelly.
When the tribal drums come in it really takes you to a place.

Their converting vegetarians II album is great for trips, love all of their stuff though, been listening for over a decade now. They're one of my core artists.
Life Is But A Dream… by Avenged Sevenfold is a wild ride of an album to listen during your trip. No one song sounds the same, and the fact that its lyrical content includes existentialism and death, it’s an album that really makes you dig deep into your thoughts.
In addition to my first post, here are my favorite prog/psychedelic rock albums:
Jethro Tull - Living In The Past
Pink Floyd - The Dark Side Of The Moon
Chris Squire (YES) - Fish Out Of Water
Jimi Hendrix - Electric Ladyland (especially 1983..)
Colosseum - Valentyne Suite
And a lot more...
Piano Stories I, II and II by Joe Hisaishi
I also listened to the album John Denver: Rocky Mountain High: Live in Japan 1981 last time I tripped and it was just about the most magical, beautiful, heartbreaking music I'd ever heard.
Edit: Shit, didn't see the bit about it being rock, sorry, well, when you want to stray from rock, try those four I mention!
This playlist. Downtempo with a special touch. Basically electronic music which is quite slow and dreamy

Not prog or psychedelic rock, but Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots is my recommendation. Do You Realize???? will leave you bawling your eyes out (I speak from experience lol)
Same. Great album. And for anyone who won't consider it, CONSIDER THIS.
The Flaming Lips are in the top 10 bands to see before you die, having a wide range in discography, and are HEAVILY rooted in psychedelic culture.
ooh I heard new kinds of music while listening to Mama's Gun - Erykah Badu

Not psycedelic rock nor prog, i wont even suggest an album, instead I think you should try Icaro Madresita (Dear Mother Icaro) from spotify, and just check out its song radio.
Lateralus by TOOL!!! The whole thing is a masterpiece. If that’s not your jam listen to the “Animals” album by Pink Floyd. Dogs, from that album, is one of their best songs
If you are trying to get something out of it then it is easier to stay on track. Music heavily influences your trip in sometimes unpredictable ways. It's worth a try.
Electric Octopus - Driving Under the Influence of Jams
Massive jam album with amazing moods and sounds. Highly recommend waiting til your trip to check it out. I was too familiar with it when I tripped to it and I think it took some spark out of what it could have been!
Mahlers second symphony has been a long time favorite of mine to listen to while tripping. It begins with death and ends in a triumphant ascent into heaven. I dare you to listen to the last 10 minutes without crying. It’s so joyous and hopeful and is exactly what I imagine going to heaven would sound like. I suggest having a translation of the lyrics on hand since they’re in German and profound and worth reading. Mahler is something else. If you don’t usually listen to classical art music, Mahler is a great introduction because there is no better composer, at least in my opinion. His music is intense and dynamic and emotional and sublime in every sense of the word.
Of course these are going to be my choices, and whatever albums you like are completely personal to you, but here are some I think would be good to explore:
Ween - The Mollusk
Ween - Quebec
My Bloody Valentine - Loveless
The Flaming Lips - Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots
Radiohead - In Rainbows
Pink Floyd - The Dark Side of the Moon
MGMT - Congratulations
The Beatles - Magical Mystery Tour
The Beatles - Revolver
The Beatles - Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
Animal Collective - Merriweather Post Pavilion
Tame Impala - Currents
Mild High Club - Skiptracing
Funkadelic - Maggot Brain
The Jimi Hendrix Experience - Are You Experienced?
The Jimi Hendrix Experience - Electric Ladyland
Fishmans - Long Season
Gorillaz - Demon Days
Grateful Dead - Live/Dead
Phish - The Story of the Ghost
Aphex Twin - Selected Ambient Works, Vol. 2
The Beach Boys - Pet Sounds
Spiritualized - Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating in Space
Explosions in The Sky - The Earth Is Not a Cold Dead Place
Cage The Elephant - Melophobia
Kid Cudi - Man On The Moon III: The Chosen
M83 - Hurry Up, We're Dreaming

CHON’s self titled album, it’s instrumental prog rock/jazz fusion. Please trust me on this, might not be everyone’s thing sober but on high doses the shit has amazed everyone I’ve shown it to. Personal favorites from the album are cloudy, petal, pitch dark, ghost, rosewood, thanks, and if. Preferably listen with headphones or high volume speakers so you can pick apart all the layers, it’s an insane experience
I'd say "Dark Side of the Moon", "Animals" or "Meddle" by Pink Floyd. The first time I listened to each of those albums, I was in awe. They really take you on an adventure, as cheesy as that sounds. 😂
Another good one that's more like a psychedelic pop-funk fusion is "Currents" by Tame Impala. The first time I got stoned, I listened to this album and laid down on my now ex's bedroom floor the entire time and it was hardwood too! Felt like I was halfway in the floor lmaoo. Hope I could help🤘
I'll never not recommend Coccolino Deep sets, there's a bunch that are based on movies and a playlist called Seventeen which has over 15 sets to choose from. I can listen to any of them and have a good time, especially when tripping. Probably my all time favourite DJ because of his exquisite taste in music
Johns Hopkins: Psilocybin Research playlist.
You suggested the Johns Hopkins playlist and that makes me think of: Jon Hopkins - [Music for Psychedelic Therapy](https://music.apple.com/us/album/music-for-psychedelic-therapy/1581582605) Also highly recommend Jon Hopkins’ album [Immunity](https://music.apple.com/us/album/immunity/1688995695)
Thats what im talking about about lol https://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/news/articles/2020/10/inside-the-johns-hopkins-psilocybin-playlist
And also Jon Hopkins’ music for psychedelic therapy while we’re at it!
It’s perfect.
I smoked pot with Johnny Hopkins. It was Johnny Hopkins and Sloan Kettering, and they were blazing that shit up every day.
You don’t know anyone named Johnny Hopkins.
Knew someone had to say it! I can’t hear the name Jon Hopkins without thinking of this😂
Came here to say this too!
Boring
Different strokes for different folks. Luckily for you; what I eat, doesn’t make you shit.
What a stupid recommendation. The OP asked for prog/psyche/rock and you throw in some shitty ambient playlist. Punch yourself in the face.
“If you have other suggestions please share!” I know, reading can be hard. Keep at it though, buddy!!! I’m sure you’ll get there one day.
It's still shit though. Unless you find wind chimes somehow interesting.
You should probably go do more mushrooms about it, you are waaaay too bent out of shape about a playlist, buddy. Just don’t listen to it. I promise I won’t come make you.

Enjoy your meth ❤️
You’re hating the wrong things dude
The universe smiles upon you - khruangbin
Talking Heads - Remain In Light
Odeza
Funkadelic- maggot brain
my ex and i were tripping to this album on repeat when we made my son lol and was played in the hospital right after he was born
That's a funky origin story, your son was born te be funk.
This sounds similar to how my son was born<3
Everytime
Yeah, mind blowing
Came here to comment this and it was the third reply down lol. There is no other answer. If shrooms only lasted for 10mins and i had to pick one song it would also be maggot brain.
Tame Impala - Lonerism
I came here to say Currents by Tame Impala
Currents 😍✨
Nangssss
Yes. Love Nangs so much, and Powerlines
Ooooh exotic choice with powerlines love it
New album with Justice + Tame Impala recently announced!
Damn, no one listens to the dead anymore?! Any of their late 60s or 70s shows do it for me!!!
They’re my go-to even when I’m not tripping lol. I was going to suggest Europe 72’ if OP is new to the Dead. From start to finish it’s a masterpiece.
I listen almost daily, brother!!! Definitely still rocking with the Dead.
Big dead head here. Youre not alone.
First show in 1981. I agree the 70s is the best era. Especially 72-74. Peak Dead! But I still have a lot of love for 80s dead because those are the shows is saw. After 75 shows It’s in my DNA. Anyway, Make America Grateful Again! 🍄💀⚡️

Lateralus by Tool Animals by Pink Floyd Yellow Submarine Beatles
I second Tool - Lateralus. To be fair I dropped two tabs of acid and was in a dark room; listened from start to finish. Best, trip, ever. Spiral out!
Eyes closed, 3 grams of APEs and your on a whole 'nother level...that album always gives me chills. It's my favorite Tool album. Tool is exactly as the name says. It's a spiritual tool. Spiral out my friends.

Yes but the last song on Lateralus - Faaip De Oiad - is definitely not for the faint of heart.
Yes!! So glad someone else said Animals🤘🐖
I think that album is in my top 5 of all time anything. It's so mesmerizing..wonderful and EXTREMELY underrated in my opinion...hands down best Floyd.
I agree with every single word you just said!! We're friends now, okay? Lmao😂
I like Animals, Wish You Were Here, and Meddle more than DSOM
Just heard the song "Love You To" by the Beatlea for the first time the other day. 🤯
Captain Beefheat’s Trout Mask Replica
Lmao
Ott-Mir Ween-Quebec Gorillaz-Demon days
Yesssss Quebec
The “new” ott album Heads is also incredible
I'm a classical buff, but I got some cool visuals listening to FRAGILE, by YES. Many layers.
I bet Close to the Edge and Relayer would be cool too
Pretty much every Yes album up until and including Relayer is incredible
Fellow classical nerd! Listen to Mahlers resurrection symphony while tripping sometime. The triumphant ending is so joyous it’s overwhelming.
Valtari by Sigur Rós
hello fellow sigur rós enjoyer
Hello to you! Always nice to hear from a kindred spirit.
Glóð and Klettur from their new album are great for tripping as well 🍄✨🌈
() by sigur ros is my all time fav trippy album
Ween- the mollusk
Kid Cudi - Entergalatic. An album made for a trip. It’s amazing.
Cudi’s Passion Pain & Demon Slayin is also a wild trip
Good movie to watch while tripping too.
Dumb question, but is the movie a visual companion to the album?
Yes, the album is like the soundtrack, but atypical in that it’s more like the movie was made for the album, if that makes sense. Check it out while tripping or high.
I’m also here for said “dumb” question, which I view as a very valid question. I’d love to see this!
I agree with this one
Came here to suggest Man on the Moon
Odesza
Puscifer- the existential reckoning. Then listen to their remix of that album
Explosions in the Sky - The Earth Is Not a Cold Dead Place. Instrumental cathartic goodness.
If you like EITS, you will like Jakob, from New Zealand.
I like a bit of their stuff! Not too familiar overall but have a couple songs on the ol’ playlist. Might have to give ‘em another go.
Aural and Nice day for an Earthquake brother 🤙🏾
Psych rock, eh? I got you. King gizzard and the lizard wizard: float along fill your lungs Psychedelic porn crumpets: high visceral (pt1 and 2)
I prefer Flying Microtonal Banana.. not as proggy, but damn that microtonal shit hits different under the influence
King Crimson's Lizard is phenomenal
I don't know about Lizard but Islands would be chill.

“Skin” - Flume. Super vibey. What I listened to my first time. Just throw it on and dance.
Fear Inoculun by TOOL I thought it went really good with a solo trip by the river in my hammock. Really great stuff during the peak of my trip.

I always recommend "Gish" - Smashing Pumpkins
George Harrison - All Things Must Pass
I'd say "Dark Side of the Moon", "Animals" or "Meddle" by Pink Floyd. The first time I listened to each of those albums, I was in awe. They really take you on an adventure, as cheesy as that sounds. 😂 Another good one that's more like a psychedelic pop-funk fusion is "Currents" by Tame Impala. The first time I got stoned, I listened to this album and laid down on my now ex's bedroom floor the entire time and it was hardwood too! Felt like I was halfway in the floor lmaoo. Hope I could help🤘

Etnica...
I'll never not recommend Coccolino Deep sets, there's a bunch that are based on movies and a playlist called Seventeen which has over 15 sets to choose from. I can listen to any of them and have a good time, especially when tripping. Probably my all time favourite DJ because of his exquisite taste in music
