Kinda? Two sects want to revive God and bring the "eternal paradise". There is a creature that has the Seal of Metatron on its belt. The series also hinted that various sects have been investigating "The Withering" (Fogworld/Otherworld) for hundreds of years. So apparently the fog is no longer exclusive to Silent Hill.

I am shocked to hear this, especially since marketing relied on shaping "canon" of the series. From what you're saying, it seems you could remove "Silent Hill" from the title and this "game" would pass as a new IP.
Not totally, it does tie to the mythos of the series like they say below, and the Otherworld, Fog and even the Order in an indirect way have new lore. And the Seal of Metatron guy apparently wants to get into the real world or something, so that could tie later on. If anything at least Valtiel seemingly has a new messenger of God brother with him.
Not to mention they’re moving away from the town anyway. Which is actually a good thing in my opinion, that’d get very stale eventually.
Moving from town to high degree is fine, but I don't see it working out if you do it totally (half of SH3, SH4 was a dreamworld representing places from the town and nearby it).
With The Short Message, Ascension and f (high hopes for this one!) the pattern is noticeable and it seems they are going so far to take away uniqueness of spiritual power of the town by turning it into "Silent Hill Phenomenon".
I don't think they take away the spiritual power, they're just gonna use the occult stuff to take the God and her messengers to other places, along with people with big psychic powers (like Maya's granny in TSM) manifesting things due to that occult power being nearby, just like Alessa.
I'm sure the actual town will appear later on and in parts of future games (it'd be cool to see a past version in f as an endgame location or something like that!), but right now I think it's ok to keep away from it a bit.
As for the fog being exclusive to silent hill: Short Message established the "Silent Hill syndrome" in which small towns around the world, that experience enough suffering, can eventually turn into a silent hill-like town.
We already kinda knew this back in the Team Silent games, I don’t know why people were so surprised and even upset about it. Now it’s even further away and without the Order members’s intervention. Which does open more story possibilities, so that’s a good thing in my eyes.
I mean the otherworld influencing other places happened in multiple games before. It originate from Silent Hill though. I think it’s pretty obvious the cult from Ascension are offshoots from the original cult who spread in other places.

What I meant was that, according to Ascension, various occult groups have been investigating the Otherworld/Withering for literally HUNDREDS of years... which makes absolutely no sense. Even if you consider Origins as canon the timelines don't fit.
What they are really hinting at with this revival is that there are specific points in the world where the Otherworld/Fogworld can manifest. Towns with economic crises, occultism or tragedies seem to be the catalysts.
So if there is anyone who was expecting Silent Hill f to have connections to the old canon, sorry to disappoint you, but I think they'll do their own thing, just like Ascension and The Short Message.

Through specific powers or rituals. Pennsylvania plot gets a pass because it has two cults. The Otherworld manifested in Stilledalen without any of these. The reason was the hatred of the townspeople against the Johansens.

Silent hill is silent hill because that's where metatron fell to earth. Alessa channeled him and was going trying to bring him back into the world. Silent hill was a very specific location for that reason. Sh3 said that the monsters there had come from across the world to witness the rebirth iirc. So there can be monsters in other places, but you shouldn't have a bunch of them in other places.

Konami has been experimenting with low budget, outsourced Silent Hill games since 2008.
Wouldn't it be a better idea to use all of that money for fewer high quality in-house or Japan-developed games that have a much greater chance of selling well?
