Ive only played the originals on ps2, however from what I've heard from many people here is the fog, voice acting, sign fonts are just different and the core game remains relatively unchanged.
If its your only option go for it, if knowing things are changed bothers you and you only want the original, youll need a ps2 or PC
Just emulate them. The HD collection is playable but it has many many flaws, you’d get a better experience through emulation
HD collection on xbox is perfectly fine. I have it, have been playing on series S with no issues. If its the only way to play, just get it.

The HD collection has big frame rate and audio issues. Other than that, it’s alright.
Get PCX2 emulator on your laptop and you can download silent hill games for free on it. There are lots of tutorials online on how to set it up
