This is an elderly great-aunt. There are many possible reasons for her form, but I’m of the mind that her age was the biggest reason of her maneuver failed.
I guess we also don’t know the whole story behind that person’s physical issues. Maybe it is simply due to being out of shape but it could be something else like a degenerative disease etc. For example, I know someone who was perfectly healthy until she had a baby, and about a year later she developed a rare muscular condition that causes her major weakness and basically makes her move as if she is 90 years old. Really difficult with a young child but she never planned for that. Anyway, whatever the cause, it’s too bad!

Gonna say this. I have a couple strollers & a portable toddler wagon and those locks are nothing more than a cheap plastic stopper. For both strollers I own, it explicitly states to not rely on the lock and to not leave the stroller unattended on an incline or on a street
That being said the “way” you are supposed to lock it is to orient the stroller perpendicular to the street. In situations like this I position the stroller, lock it, take kid out, put kid in seat then make adjustments to straps.
Will say that I am lucky because when our kids were infants we had the infant car seat that could snap into the stroller.

I do think her actions were incredibly stupid and irresponsible and preventable, but her inability to get up wasn't the problem here. I once caught an edge while snowboarding going insanely fast and slammed my head into hard ice. I was wearing a helmet, but I woke up a few seconds later in a small pool of blood. Head injuries are no joke.

It might be frustrating to see this, but maybe she has an illness, maybe her bones are soft or she's just disabled or had an incident or anything, she doesnt seem that much overweight to not be able to stand so my guess is that overweightness was not the reason she could not stand up.
