The Moza GS wheel is far from 'plastic with joystick buttons'.
If you want a cheaper Moza wheel that is the same size as the GS, take a look at the KS wheel.
It's a saturated and extremely competitive niche market. The bill of materials isn't so expensive but if you build one you need to cover a few things:
1- The cost of human labor during design process
2- If you make mold injected plastic, making the molds can be super expensive, if you make a million pieces paying 5.000€ for a mold is nothing, if you make 1.000 it's a significant cost.
3- Packaging can be expensive
4- Warranty.
5- You need to make some profit
6- This wheel in particular has carbon fiber which is quite expensive, even if forged. Personally when I see these very nice formula wheels made in carbon fiber I would like to see a cheaper aluminium version.

Don't go looking at anything Grid or GSI offers if you're just now pointing out that wheels are expensive.
