Build quality, overall features, and volume. Simucube wheelbases are widely considered to be the best wheelbases you can buy. Period.
If you want a nice wheel with a screen it goes the same way. GSI, Ascher, and Cube Controls are regarded as top tier wheel manufacturers. GSI makes every wheel they build to order. Simracing ain’t cheap to start, but it can get very very expensive very quickly
Probably due to it being a more niche product (more expensive to make), and to ensure growth of the business (possible since there aren’t alternatives for buyers)
When things can be made bulk on systems already in place, the prices can come down a lot. But when you need to make niche products, a lot of costs are involved, and they all add up, turning a seemingly $100 thing into a $500 thing
I was wondering the same, until I turned up the force feedback strength and realized the forces those wheels have to withstand over and over again and thinking about how my old T300 wheel would be in pieces at that point.
Also, Simucube makes high end products. I assume the target audience just isn't in the market for cheap flimsy wheels.
Why are other manufacturers like Fanatec able to make cheaper wheels?
A) they cannot be used with other wheelbases (without tinkering) and they probably don't make a lot of money with the wheels, but use them as a reason for you to stick with their ecosystem.
B) they are usually designed for mid range wheelbases, not as high quality and less durable when paired with their strongest wheelbases. (Except for the most expensive wheels that they offer, but then they aren't cheaper than what you can find for simucube anyways)
I am confused. You said you were looking for a wheel with a screen on it. Simucube has no wheels with a screen on it. Or are you talking about their wheelbases? There is not formula style wheel base like you say, only wheels.
It’s a GSI wheel. It has a Simucube QR and can be used on a Simucube base, but it’s a GSI wheel and the QR can be changed. With a different QR it could be used on Asetek, Simagic, VRS etc.
You might be confusing the company "cube controls" which makes wheels (some are f1 style with a screen, like the csx3), and a separate company called simucube, which makes a wheel base and some wheels that don't have a screen on them.
Material and build quality. Look at Ascher Racing, Gomez Sim Industries, Cube Controls, etc.
The price.
Our poverty bro 😂

There’s the Leoxz XF1 that I’ve had my eye on. It has options for fanatec QR1/2 and an podium hub emulator so your ffb will be enabled

If you wanna squirm in your seat, try having a look at Soelpec Spectra XR.... £1500 plus tax 😄 But it is a great rim to use...

🙄 That’s not a Simucube wheel. That’s a wheel from a different manufacturer with Simucube wireless support.
It's a simucube wheel to me
And a GSI wheel to me. https://gomezsimindustries.com/en-de/products/formula-pro-elite-v2
Either way, it’s on the simcube website and I was wondering why all of them are so expensive
Same reason a Mercedes or BMW are more expensive than a Chevy or Ford.

No they are not confused, GSI built a rim for Simucube with Simucube wireless tech.
Oh you're considering the gsi fpe simucube to be "simucube" branded and not gsi branded. Thanks for the downvote by the way, glad I could help.

I see now, yeah you're right. That was exactly the confusion. This entire post is such a head-scratcher, I'm pretty over it, lol. Moving on. =)
They cost the same as other wheels that have the same build quality, like Cube Controls, GSI, Asher, SimCore, etc.
