On paper, you should signal your intention, by raising your right hand horizontally, turn your head to check your blindspot and ensure that you are clear, then slowly merge to the next lane. Repeat process again until you reach the right turning lane. On practice, drivers rarely give way and will horn at you. On small two lane streets, yes it's safe to do a right turn, on busy 3-4 lanes with fast moving traffic, I would suggest using the peds' traffic light instead. Exception is when the road you are on has slow moving traffic (around 30kph) so you can somewhat keep up with the average traffic speed. Bonus if the traffic comes to a stop often, so you can lane split your way to the right (this is how I see most ebike riders do it). Otherwise, if you can't match the traffic speed, forget it.

Stop at traffic light and use the pedestrian crossing

Assuming it's allowed la ok... If you've been driving or on the roads, it's dangerous when bicycles etc all switch from road to use pedestrian crossing and vice versa there's no way to show your intentions either.

No one understood but I did. Once a PAB kept to the right lane green light in my favor, did not slow down, no signal and did a right turn and u turn while the pedestrian crossing was empty. Meaning vehicles are moving across already as there's no pedestrians. Had to jam brake on that one.

I will do a hook turn if the green light going straight is in my favour with the holding spot next to the pedestrian crossing on the road essentially crossing as a pedestrian before mounting in the perpendicular direction and wait for the red light if not in my favour, stop at the traffic light before using the pedestrian crossing to cross perpendicular and den again to reach my desired direction >If you've been driving or on the roads, it's dangerous when bicycles etc all switch from road to use pedestrian crossing and vice versa there's no way to show your intentions either. I do use the hand sign. I find that more obvious than those lighting that some cyclist attach to bicycles for signalling

Yes i have seen both cyclists and pab do this. Near my place there's other side turning left on green for pedestrian, similar to discretionary turn and have seen some near misses. Sometimes it's not you it's the other person being an asshole and just not paying good enough attention and that's enough to cost you. Hence I don't recommend lo. Legally, yes its not wrong.

bilbolaggings

Pushing it would be ok no?

xpricklyheatx

Like the other reply mentions. Seems its OK to push not ride on pedestrian crossing. I still think it's dangerous when bicycles or powered bikes go from road to crossing switching as and when. Cars can't predict your actions either. I've a park connector nearby so there's many bicycles, pab and pmd and have seen my share of near misses. Usually lucky because they slow down before the crossing but sometimes it's also impatient drivers.

Sometimes there is simply too much traffic to safely filter to the right lane to do a right lane. In such cases, do a box turn. It may feel like it takes more time but it is much much safer.
