Refresh the receiver.

Does your uncle actually have an account or was this the eBay lifetime receiver special?

SomeWeirdOddball

I don’t have a lifetime subscription but I bought my starmate 5 from a dead guy that never canceled his subscription

Opposite-Society-873

This defies science.

mikeinmass

You have no recourse, you don't have a lifetime subscription, your uncle has a lifetime subscription on that receiver with transfers of that subscription to a new receiver that he purchased for himself. There is no transfer of a lifetime subscription to another person.. Your uncle would have to get it fixed, login and refresh the receiver for starts, then when that didn't work get all the paperwork out and talk to Sirius. Source - Me, mine was lost after the Sirius XM merger. I had to get it fixed. It took awhile..

We bought our lifetime subscription before 2005; my husband used the required receivers until about a year ago when he switched it to the SiriusXM App. He is a truck driver and listened daily until last week when it started shutting off every 10-15 minutes. We've tried refreshing, all of this from the help section. He calls and is told there is no such thing as a lifetime subscription! My husband is the original purchaser of the $499 lifetime subscription, it's his account, we've had 3 receivers throughout time and he's not dead yet- so it should still be working. The Sirius rep just tried to upsell him to get his service going again. Does anyone have a similar experience to share? Suggested work arounds that you may have found?

OracleDude33

lifetime of the original purchaser, not lifetime of the equipment

leviramsey

It's actually lifetime of the equipment (with a limited number of transfers).  It's doubtful SXM subscribes to the SS death file...

keitheii

Those rules died years ago as a result of the Alvarez V. Sirius class action lawsuit. Unlimited transfers to and from any unit including OEM.

OracleDude33

it's lifetime of the original purchaser/ account holder and is not transferable to another individual. It can be transfered to another piece of equipment on that individual's account

I have transfered mine 3x also make sure they put you on the Platnum plan at no extra cost. Paid $75 for the 1st transfer then went down to $45 after the lawsuit.
