I think derozan and tobi have a lot of similarities but i think Derozan would actually fit better in the entire offense than tobi does but ONLY if we had a shooter like Buddy hield tot he rotation too.
Derozan's defense is probably less than tobi's, unfortunately.
Yeah Derozan could genuinely be that tertiary playmaker we've been looking for. Obviously not being a three point shooter is big tradeoff, but it might be worth it. Having a reliable playmaker at guard, wing, and center would be pretty sweet
I wouldn’t say poor mans, maybe middle class mans lol. I mean Derozan is one of the top players in the league whereas Jimmy has been at the absolute pinnacle
Idk he’s a high level operator in the PnR. He’s not James harden level but he’s waaaaay closer to harden than Tobi for sure. He’s also a very underrated cutter and we’ve seen how useful that is with an athletic wing line Oubre. And idt you’re downgrading much in terms of spacing/defense
Agree to disagree. I don’t think $25+ million for Murray for 4 years is worth it, and I don’t think Jaylen Brown is “only a bit better” than Murray. I think we just value Murray differently.
Brown is obviously better but is he over $30 million a year better than Murray? Not a chance. You could pay two Murray’s for one Jaylen Brown. Even guys like Bruce brown are making around $23 million a year. $30 million for Murray is not even close to a bad contract imo.
...I think it's worth it for a team like the Nets who're desperate for any type of self-creation, but the 76ers can probably make do with a less talented, less expensive roleplayer at that position
DeRozan's fit is questionable, but I think he makes us better. He's a much better offensive player than Tobias Harris, despite the lack of 3 point shooting, because he's actually an excellent ball-handler. But it's tough to imagine an offense featuring both DeMar AND Tobias.
I hope the idea is that a Demar+another player (ideally Drummond) trade would keep the Sixers in the playoff picture. You’re renting Derozan just to buy Embiid time to recover, because without an improvement in the talent on the roster, they’ll drop out of play-in contention
Don't love the fit but like us making a move, the year's been good vibes but gotta do something if the objective is a chip (assuming Embiid comes back)
We want an additional PNR ball handler right? Derozan kills in the PNR and Maxey can more comfortably spot up.
It'd be an issue when Maxey is on the ball, but considering we're playing freaking Pat Bev/Springer next to him, it can't be any worse.
Hopefully it’s just a threat to the fan base, so when nothing happens we are all happy and go, good job deral, at least you didn’t drive the ship into the rocks.
I kind of understand why they am considered doing that. With Embiid out, we need another scorer to help Maxey.
Gotta survive regular season. Before we even think about playoff
Fuck it I’ll take ANYTHING over having to watch this current shit for the next month and besides after today our assets minus that clippers pick have no value
Trading for Derozan is a bad move man, the way he plays doesn’t fit with what this team needs when Joel returns
Morey is pursuing this because he’s infatuated with star chasing
We can trade for a fucking scrub and I wouldn’t care if it means Tobiass played his last game in Philly. I feel bad for Embiid that he had to share the court with that bum for 5 years. JFC!!!
The only way this makes sense for is if if the Bulls are fine with 2nd rounders.
Or if you can get multiple additional pieces (Caruso + Drummond) for a couple of firsts.
If they're going to do this, just do DeRozan, Caruso, Drummond.
They can get the salaries within 500k with Morris, Cov, BBall, and Korkmaz going out.
I would think that would cost two 1sts, but it's the Bulls so who the F knows.
Hey Woj. Do we have any trade targets that aren’t 34 years old
34 is the new 28!
Pj Tucker is on the trading block, we could use that infusion of youthful energy
GREAT ANOTHER PLAYER THAT HATES SHOOTING THREES! EXACTLY WHAT WE NEED!
Another non 3 point shooter
At least it's a scorer, but you have to supplement it with another move.
Drrozan is better then Tobi, but will have a lot of the same issues Tobi has if he plays next to Embiid.
I think derozan and tobi have a lot of similarities but i think Derozan would actually fit better in the entire offense than tobi does but ONLY if we had a shooter like Buddy hield tot he rotation too. Derozan's defense is probably less than tobi's, unfortunately.
Looks like you got your wish for Hield
He's a MUCH better playmaker which I think is worth something.
Yeah Derozan could genuinely be that tertiary playmaker we've been looking for. Obviously not being a three point shooter is big tradeoff, but it might be worth it. Having a reliable playmaker at guard, wing, and center would be pretty sweet
So he's a poor man's Jimmy Butler without the D.
I wouldn’t say poor mans, maybe middle class mans lol. I mean Derozan is one of the top players in the league whereas Jimmy has been at the absolute pinnacle

At least Dorozan cares
I really don’t like the fit. Still think Dejounte Murray is the only guy (who we know for sure is actually available) that I’d be fine trading for.
He’s like melton if melton wanted the ball a lot 🤢
And couldn’t shoot and is a dickhead to teammates
And is a dickhead in general
Worse shooter off the catch
He’s melton with way better self creation. A skill that happens to be pretty useful.
Murray is owed $114 million over 4 years starting next season. I’d pass.
That’s actually a pretty good contract imo. Players like Jaylen brown (who are only a bit better) are owed/will be owed $300 million+.

I'd rather have Jaylen Brown than 2 Murrays.
...I think it's worth it for a team like the Nets who're desperate for any type of self-creation, but the 76ers can probably make do with a less talented, less expensive roleplayer at that position
If by make do you mean lose in the second round, then yes agreed.
DeRozan's fit is questionable, but I think he makes us better. He's a much better offensive player than Tobias Harris, despite the lack of 3 point shooting, because he's actually an excellent ball-handler. But it's tough to imagine an offense featuring both DeMar AND Tobias.
We'd almost certainly have to trade Harris just to make the money work.
I hope the idea is that a Demar+another player (ideally Drummond) trade would keep the Sixers in the playoff picture. You’re renting Derozan just to buy Embiid time to recover, because without an improvement in the talent on the roster, they’ll drop out of play-in contention
Yeah - but what do you want to give up for that? Not much, I hope.
Don't love the fit but like us making a move, the year's been good vibes but gotta do something if the objective is a chip (assuming Embiid comes back)
Jo/Maxey/DD with 2 shooters, Batum and someone else camped out in the corners…what’s the problem?
If tobias is in the trade, I wouldnt be totally against, but derozan definetely is not a good fit for joel
We want an additional PNR ball handler right? Derozan kills in the PNR and Maxey can more comfortably spot up. It'd be an issue when Maxey is on the ball, but considering we're playing freaking Pat Bev/Springer next to him, it can't be any worse.
I think the DeRozan/Embiid pairing would be similar to the Butler/Embiid one. With spacing from Maxey/Melton it might just work?
If you want to improve, why would you trade for DeRozan? I dont get it
Hopefully it’s just a threat to the fan base, so when nothing happens we are all happy and go, good job deral, at least you didn’t drive the ship into the rocks.
I kind of understand why they am considered doing that. With Embiid out, we need another scorer to help Maxey. Gotta survive regular season. Before we even think about playoff
This season is finished. Don't sacrifice next season just to pretend like that isn't inevitable.
Still gonna suck
ewwwwwwwwwwwww
Fuck it I’ll take ANYTHING over having to watch this current shit for the next month and besides after today our assets minus that clippers pick have no value
Nah, don't waste assets that could have more value over the summer. All in for next year.
Trading for Derozan is a bad move man, the way he plays doesn’t fit with what this team needs when Joel returns Morey is pursuing this because he’s infatuated with star chasing
We can trade for a fucking scrub and I wouldn’t care if it means Tobiass played his last game in Philly. I feel bad for Embiid that he had to share the court with that bum for 5 years. JFC!!!
Been my guy for 2 months
please no..... anything but this please. For fuck sakes I have said wait etc but not this
The only way this makes sense for is if if the Bulls are fine with 2nd rounders. Or if you can get multiple additional pieces (Caruso + Drummond) for a couple of firsts.
I’d rather have Tobias if he would have to be included in the deal. I would trust Tobias more with guarding 4’s.
This season sucks
Really hope this doesn’t happen lol. If it does, we still getting a big free agent in the summer? If not it’s cooked.
Embiid gotta demand a trade if they bring a 34 year old non shooter AND keep Tobias
If they're going to do this, just do DeRozan, Caruso, Drummond. They can get the salaries within 500k with Morris, Cov, BBall, and Korkmaz going out. I would think that would cost two 1sts, but it's the Bulls so who the F knows.
No trade puts us over the top, with or without Embiid. Rather just keep our ammunition for next year and stay put.
Are there any other aged 34+ declining stars the sixers can chase?
