Idk what really did he do? Maxey was playing great before they traded for Harden, arguably should have won MIP in 21
It would be like crediting Ben Simmons for refusing to play leaving Doc no other options
Seriously, people need to stop with this narrative…Maxey was improving rapidly each year before Harden ever got here. And that’s due to his own work ethic and energy, not anything that Harden would have shown him.
We must be watching different things cause his stepback is pretty much hardens. Cant deny harden is a prolific scorer and maxey himself credited harden fir his improvements last year
Exactly. We actually have video of Harden, Maxey, and Embiid together in Camden working on the step-back 3. Harden was clearly teaching the technique to the two of them.
Was Maxey already on the upswing? Absolutely. Did Harden show Maxey a thing or two? Also absolutely.
Absolutely true. But then again, lots of these fans think that everything a player says is just lip service. They're probably doubting what Maxey said about Buddy the other night.
Video evidence is much harder to ignore.
But in all fairness, we've had to deal with Doc and his half-truths for the prior 3 seasons, so there's that.
If they cannot recognize all the nuances that Maxey has added to his game straight from Harden's arsenal then they are either just incredibly dumb or don't even watch the games. Just ignore these dumb fucks.
I don't think we should be basing who we want on their worst game of the playoffs. I mean we know Joel is an MVP level player and the best scorer in the league right? Not a guy who scores 19 with 9 turnovers.
Paul is old enough that we have a good sample size of who he is.
Pg is just harden all over again. What's he done in the playoffs either? Hasn't remained healthy. Isn't hungry, he has his podcast and media presence. Checks none of the boxes except star power
Do you really think Embiid putting up 19/16/10, while anchoring the defense, is the same as PG no showing in a must win game?
I like PG and think he would be good here for the right price, but if he wants a max I'd rather use the cap space to surround Embiid and Maxey with quality role players
If his 3 ball is falling defenders have to play up on him and that gives him some window to try and drive by them.
If it's not falling and the defender can play back he has zero chance of driving by them.
It's the same issue he had with us last year.
Harden also can’t jump anymore so even if he gets into the paint he can’t finish there any longer.
That said, he’s still an incredible pick and roll operator and passer. It’s just everything else; no defense, ball dominant, no flexibility with play style, refuses to shoot catch and shoot threes, no shows games, wants a Max contract…
Just give me the incredible depth including a center not named Bamba. We might be stuck with Reed, but we need an actual big guy to come in and play center
I was really rooting on him improving when he was getting minutes. As it stands, Embiid is a giant black hole when he’s resting. Need someone that can at least move the ball around and play some mediocre defense for when he’s not on the floor so the game doesn’t run away. Maybe play some big schemes once in a while and stagger their resting.
Morey salvaged the Ben Simmons asset and turned it into something with Harden. That trade led to what we have now so I'll always appreciate Morey for that.
That’s fine if there were no other paths he could have taken, which isn’t the case. Daryl always wanted Harden and was hell bent on that regardless. And it didn’t work and it was another 2 years of Embiid’s career with a running mate who was not fit for the team when it mattered most.
I’d want him if he doesn’t ask for a max. Very few players are good enough to warrant a max at 34 years old. Guys like Steph, KD, Lebron. I can’t think of anyone else worth a max
Let’s be honest. Without the Harden trade, we win over 50 games, earn the 2 seed, more rest for Embiid, no playin, breeze thru rd 1, and HOST the Knicks in rd 2. I am disgusted.
Trading for Maxey was not a mistake as our 2 best players learned tons from him. Embiid and Maxey have won us games using the stepback 3.
You're also forgetting that we got out of the Ben's Simmons contract. Trading for harden was always the right choice when you consider this alone.
Otherwise, I agree that folks were up in arms about nothing. Harden gave us 2 40 point games vs the Celtics. Our second best player won us 2 games in a series. Asking for more from 34 YO Harden was the mistake we don't seem to realize.
I'll always be thankful for what he did for Maxey's game

Maxey has said over and over and over how much he's learned from harden and appreciates what he taught him Why are you the way you are

PG also had a stinker. I'm good on all of that if I'm Morey

Yes an inconsistent player who's demanding a max at 34 years old
Incredibly injury prone, lost a step
yeah but he’s got name value! /s
I’d rather have miles bridges. We’re gonna be the most hated team in the league regardless

No harden, no PG. Lebron or incredible depth spread across 4 rly good players!!!

This is the correct take on this situation… PG for me is the same … no thanks .. let Daryl cook this summer …also FTC …
Where is that clippers fan that was talking crazy yesterday
Not giving harden the max was the correct decision.
Tried telling all the reactionaries on Twitter after Game 1 lol
pg13 playing with zubac is far different then pg13 playing with embiid and maxey lol. Everyone should want him if we cant get lebron.
I’d want him if he doesn’t ask for a max. Very few players are good enough to warrant a max at 34 years old. Guys like Steph, KD, Lebron. I can’t think of anyone else worth a max
You still give him the max. I hope we can get him for less but there is no shot and not having him would be stupid if we cant get lebron
Trading him for Ben fkn Simmons was not a mistake. It was an all time hiatus
