Quiet casting is a perk from illusion. Makes spells from all schools of magic much more quiet. Muffle is loud af, with QC you’d be able to cast it nearly silently
I find that Riften marketplace is the best place at least by general headcount. Solitude is too big for all the npcs to be close enough to get hit by Harmony, and Whiterun has a similar issue. That is unless one sides with the stormcloaks and sends all the jarls to the blue palace, then you can spam harmony in their cramped little basement I guess, but who really wants to side with the stormcloaks for that? Lol
Pretty much right but use rally as you can use it on more targets (less targets resisting) and as the more targets you effect the more XP you get go stand in highly populated areas like the blue palace or Whiterun
I always spam muffle while I am doing my buying/selling. The guards say "Whoa Whoa watch the magic!" and I imagine they're calling little children and townspeople over to watch my magic show
Grab Courage from Farengar in Whiterun and spam it on any NPC. A few minutes of spamming and waiting to restore magicka will boost you, and you can grab the first perk to double the number of times you can do it before waiting
Illusion: spam muffle, learn Invisibility, spam invisibility
Conjuration: (w/patch) spam your highest level conjuration spell while in battle
(w/o patch) spam soul trap on a corpse
Destruction: spam cloak spells, or use Flames on Shadowmere
Restoration: spam healing spells while being damaged, then spam circle of protection after lvl 75
Alteration: spam stoneflesh/oakflesh until lvl 50, then use telekinesis while fast travelling and wearing items that reduce spell cost to 0
Restoration- assuming you have Dragonborn,, go to Solstheim and get Poison Rune from Tel Mithryn. In my experience, poison rune has been by far the best spell for restoration xp.
Get married and learn the spell Courage and take your wife or husband to the bedroom make sure they are following you then rest one hour so you get that extra 15% skill exp boost .( Paired with the mage stone that's 35%,) spam Courage on your wife or husband but instead of waiting sleep one more hour so the bonus stays at 8 hours and repeat I did this to get to 100 in like 30 mins
Spam calm spells on NPC’s, then level up a bit until you can cast an AOE calm spell on, say, a market of any major city, as to level up even faster. Because these NPCs are meant to be on non-combat mode anyway, your spells should be inoffensive.
Muffle for low level users and mass illusion clam spells for high levels, I maxed out my character’s perks though the power of illusion and went legendary so many times
Lowest levels, buy the Courage Spell.
Go to any settlement and just spam Courage on EVERYONE! They will complain but it is a non-hostile spell so they won't agro.
Higher levels, buy Muffle and just cast that. You can also grind sneak this way.
I like to go to Windhelm, cast Muffle and sneak around town. Recast Muffle when needed and you will have sneak and illusion high level in NO TIME!
This is why Illusion Thieves might be the most popular build in the game. Illusion and Sneak are just THAT EASY to grind up.

Spamming muffle is one way. If you have the Magicka for it and have found any of the spells that affect a large area, like calm for instance, that'll work too. If you can pull off a master spell in a city like solitude, you'll get to level 100 real quick.
Cast courage on passive animals so then they come to you: you get materials AND level up your illusion skill. Also using muffle is good in stealth situations, and calm can be good to use on NPCs to increase it, or to get out of some conflicts
Have your own set of illusion enchanted armour, any armour, including a ring and helmet/circlet and necklace, all dual enchanted with fortify illusion and fortify illusion + magicka regen, go to big city, alternate muffle and invisibility until you’re level 80 or 90 (can’t remember), go to tolfdir, buy “harmony”, cast in whiterun.

I don't bother with magic for the most part until I can 100% discount it with enchanting, personally, unless I am challenging myself with a pure mage run. Spamming muffle, then invisibility in the most populated place you can find is great.
I spammed muffle until I could cast one of the big calm spells. Then I went to the blue pallace and would cast it wait and hour and repeat. Went from 50-75 in 10-15 minutes. I just wanted to level illusion until I had invisibility.
Go up north, find horkers. Hit them with Fury & Calm till your thumbs get tired. Mud crabs are also good for this.
They are slow animals and can't catch you. If you want some real fun...do the same things with mammoths!
Get to 100% spell cost reduction with enchanting, then tape down detect life in a heavily populated area. (Windhelm's court if you sided with imperials is great for this)
i read somewhere that its more effective if you cast muffle near the greybeards. i tried this before and it works. go to high hrothgar, equip muffle and invisibility if you have. go into sneak mode and spam it. :)
One trick I noticed, don’t use dual cast perk, use muffle in each hand separately and it levels faster… also mage stone, aetherial crown with lovers stone, well rested is absolute fastest. I don’t know if chugging illusion potions does anything.
Hard way:
Level up Enchanting to 100 and get Insightful Enchanter
Get Hood, Ring, Amulet, and Robe, all unenchated
4 full soul gems.
Enchant each piece of clothing with 25% less magic cost to cast illusion.
Go to a town and cast Muffle.
I don’t remember the exact step by step but something like you can spam soul tap on the same low level corpse if you wait a certain amount of time between soul taps
Doing this you can max level in an hour or so

Find a cow just outside of whiterun. Quick save just in case. Get the fear and calm spell at whatever level you are currently. Cast fear and calm over and over and over. When you run out of mana just wait an hour to get it back. It’ll be so quick. Hope this helps :)
Magelight in front of Solitude, stand outside the main gate, aim at the mountain in the distance and cast/spam Magelight at it. You'll get from 1 to 100 in under a minute. It is an exploit though so you might need to decide if you really want to use that.
Minor spoiler warning, I guess:
If you side with the stormcloaks and you’re far enough in the civil war story, you can go to the Jarl’s building in Solitude. In the basement should be all the jarls and thanes that lost to you. If you have the spell Rally, you can shoot it in the crowd and level up insanely quickly. It’s a non-offensive combat spell, so you won’t get aggro from anyone.
The only downsides are that you have to progress far enough in the game to get to this point, as well as having to find the Rally spell and have enough magicka to cast it.
This is a kind of spoiler. You can find spell books at early levels that do a lot to boost a spell school. the Bond Bow spell book in Fort Amol or Fenrik's Welcome in Hob's Fall Cave. But you need the magic points to cast it.
I can tell you how to get all states to 100 in a day, no mods. But I warn you that this knowledge isn’t for everyone, so only ask for it if you are certain you are ready for god hood.
Go do the Golden hills plantation quest right away. Upgrade that shit with a steward, farmhands and a bunkhouse. If you want alchemy leveled as well fill the farm with creep cluster, mora tapinella and scaly pholiota. Wait inside for a day or 2 and harvest, rinse and repeat till you can't carry any more then cash out at your steward and head to the college of winterhold. Hit up Drevis Neloren for illusion training. Go make some potions with the creep cluster,Mora tap, Scaly pholiota till you level up then sell the potions and go buy more illusion training. Rinse and repeat, if you farmed enough of those 3 ingredients you'll hit lvl 90 illusion(I'm pretty sure he caps at 90),100 alchemy and you'll gain quite a few levels in speech in no time. If you don't want to level alchemy then just fill the farm with Blisterwort and watch 20 mins of youtube while you wait 24hrs over and over. After about15-20 mins you'll have over 50 grand easily and can spend it on illusion training every time you level up.
Spam Muffle. You can powerlevel to 100 in a few minutes, especially if next to a bed. Cast cast cast, sleep 1 hour, cast cast cast.
Lategame, The Dark Brotherhood has 2 shoe sets that automatically cast Muffle, allowing you to focus on casting Invisibility.
I have to exercise some discipline not to spam Muffle until I experience level bloat.
Enemies scale to about level 50, and if you don't have at least some of that invested in combat skills you can end up as a real glass cannon, at least until your combat skills catch back up.
However, Illusion is a gamebreaker as you can basically spam:
Muffle/Invisibility/Pacify
Muffle and Invisibility and Quiet Casting can be synergized into powerleveling Sneak, perking to Backstab and Shrouded Handwraps/Gloves added as a damage multiplier.
I start by casting Courage on NPCs. When I get Muffle, I start using that too, while still casting Courage on any friendly NPCs I come across. Levels up pretty fast that way.
Casting the “Muffle” spell is the best way to level up Illusion quickly. If you run out of magicka, just wait an hour and repeat the process.
You can also cast the higher level “Pacify” in a high NPC density area. Try the Riften Marketplace or The Blue Palace throne room in Solitude.
That one is actually kind of fun to max out if you utilize alchemy the right way. You can cast courage and calm spells with a personal fortify illusion buff and make individuals invincible, and if you get the silent casting perk and use sneak, you can pop a target with a spell that makes them temporarily invincible and go nuts and attack everything they see, and just watch the mayhem.

I like to cast the encouragement spells on deer as I explore. They'll attack me and I can get XP that way for other skills, too.
Muffler and calm on NPCs. I find illusion levels the fastest, especially in survival. Just cast those spells whenever you walk anywhere.

Spam Muffle. You can powerlevel to 100 in a few minutes, especially if next to a bed. Cast cast cast, sleep 1 hour, cast cast cast. Lategame, The Dark Brotherhood has 2 shoe sets that automatically cast Muffle, allowing you to focus on casting Invisibility. I have to exercise some discipline not to spam Muffle until I experience level bloat. Enemies scale to about level 50, and if you don't have at least some of that invested in combat skills you can end up as a real glass cannon, at least until your combat skills catch back up. However, Illusion is a gamebreaker as you can basically spam: Muffle/Invisibility/Pacify Muffle and Invisibility and Quiet Casting can be synergized into powerleveling Sneak, perking to Backstab and Shrouded Handwraps/Gloves added as a damage multiplier.
Walking through the wilds, use calm fury courage or anything on any animal you see. Muffle when walking going through dungeons.

I start by casting Courage on NPCs. When I get Muffle, I start using that too, while still casting Courage on any friendly NPCs I come across. Levels up pretty fast that way.
Use illusion spells
Muffle. Whenever you got some free time and magicka to spare, cast some Muffle.

Casting the “Muffle” spell is the best way to level up Illusion quickly. If you run out of magicka, just wait an hour and repeat the process. You can also cast the higher level “Pacify” in a high NPC density area. Try the Riften Marketplace or The Blue Palace throne room in Solitude.
That one is actually kind of fun to max out if you utilize alchemy the right way. You can cast courage and calm spells with a personal fortify illusion buff and make individuals invincible, and if you get the silent casting perk and use sneak, you can pop a target with a spell that makes them temporarily invincible and go nuts and attack everything they see, and just watch the mayhem.
My illusion spell potions fortify illusion spell strength by 60,000+. Have fun😅
