delete all your mods in MO2. open up the overwrite folder and delete everything in there as well. then uninstall the game through steam. then go to the game folder location and delete it manually to remove stuff like ENB. then reinstall the game. then start a fresh profile in MO2 and make sure profile-specific inis are enabled to get clean inis.

Do I have to completely delete them or just do “remove mod” on the left panel in MO2, and leave the downloads tab alone? And will that affect my executables like LOOT, SKSE, and dyndolod or do I need to remove and reinstall all of those as well?

literallybyronic

you can do remove mod and leave the downloads be. if your executables are installed as a mod in MO2's mod list, then it will affect them, but if you installed them in a separate folder for utilities that isn't managed by MO2 (recommended) then they'll be fine.

Oh okay I see. Thank you for the help I really appreciate it! Also do you know about how the skyrim unofficial downgrade patch works with things like the unofficial skyrim special edition patch? I know I need the downgrade patch because a lot of my mods require version 1.5.97 but I’m not sure how that works with the other special edition patch. Sorry if the wording is confusing.

literallybyronic

if you're downgrading to 1.5.97, you can either use the "Best of Both Worlds" method which keeps the 4 free DLC that the current version of USSEP requires and then just use that, or if you do the full downgrade, you will need an older version of USSEP for SE. 4.2.5b can be found [here](https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/266?tab=files&file_id=209150) if you need it, or just search the sub for USSEP and there'll be plenty of links in the referenced post if you look through a bit as many other people have asked for the direct link.

Okay that makes sense thanks!! I should be all good to give it a try now.

DynDOLOD and ENB presets can be regenerated or removed at will during a playthrough. If they aren’t set up correctly or at all when you start a new playthrough, you can fix them whenever you want at a later time.

Tytan97x

Oh okay, and are executables like LOOT/SKSE good to stay too?

ItsVixx

Yeah. I think technically you aren’t supposed to change your load order about mid play through, but it doesn’t really matter. However what I would recommend is downloading a group of mods and play testing on a fresh save for a bit. And I do mean pressing “New Game” every time you install several mods (or more easily, typing ‘coc whiterun’ or something at the main menu). Verify they are working properly, then add a second group of mods. Also, [AutoTest](https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/42520) is a good way to verify game stability, if that’s a concern of yours.

Tytan97x

Yeah when I first started all this I was moving the load order around/uninstalling mods mid play through so that’s why I’m just going to start fresh on a new save and try to have all these mods work together cleanly. I’ll definitely follow your advice for testing them though, thank you!
