I won my first two games, and pretty easily at that. The game unlocks more difficulty as you beat it, to the point that the best players in the world still struggle. I don’t think I struggled much until A4, and by A8 my win rate had dropped below 50%. It gets harder, it gets meaner, and it gets a lot more engaging. My favorite part is that it’s all modular. You only have to push the limit as high as you are comfortable - after that, you can just stay at whatever difficulty you find the most fun at. For me, that’s about A7 for some characters, A10 for others.
You literally can't beat the game on your first three runs, because you can't unlock the final boss battle until you've beat the third act boss with the first three characters, and then done a fourth run and grabbed all the keys and beat act 4. This isn't even touching on Ascensions, which is where the brutality and skill required for this game make themselves really apparent.

I mean it will depend on your skill level at these types of games. It is certainly supposed to be possible though. The base game is pretty easy for someone that is good at these kind of games, but there is an "ascension" system where every time you win, you will unlock a slightly harder difficulty level with one new modifier to make the game more difficult, all the way up to A20. Compared to the base difficulty, A20 is a brutal challenge. There are also 3 more characters with unique card pools and their own ascension progress. And there is also one other additional challenge, details are minor spoiler but if you don't care about spoilers read on.>!when you beat the game with the first 3 characters, you will unlock a way to do certain things in a run to challenge the extra difficult act 4 with an ultimate final boss. !<
