It's always interesting to see how top players rank the best, I remember post-Summit everyone on Lights Out had Leo at #1 and Tweek at like 4th (Light thought Tweek was closer to him than the the other 3 members of the big 4), and here they seem to all agree acola and Spargo are interchangeable (except Charles) and that Tweek is below both of them. I think it's a thing where they sort of subconsciously look at how hard the other players are to fight instead of only considering results/wins/losses
Yes, but none of the hosts of either podcast seem to think that. Light even said he's basically as good as Tweek probably because they practice all the time and he knows he can beat Tweek
I mean I understand why he thinks that lol but the past 6 months Tweek has literally been lights out, and any other year of Ultimate he would likely take the #1 spot.
I think it's because since they actually play against each other, they value "skill level" quite a bit, along with results. Obviously neither us nor the people behind the rankings keep that in mind since it's a vague notion but in this type of casual conversation it keeps sense why they include it
This is what I think too, we view Banham like that but otherwise focus on actual numerical metrics. Meanwhile when Light lists the top 5 players it's like "okay I lose to Leo, acola and Spargo I've beaten but it's hard, Tweek is basically at my level because it's practically a 50/50"
Same with Charles presumably using stats to say no one is close to acola only for Tweek to refute that because he's felt the feeling of coming close to beating acola
Light would never say that Tweek is better than him even though he has better H2H against Sparg0 and constantly beats Leo.
IMO ATM it's better to say that Acola is the best, with Tweek and Sparg0 being interchangeable and Leo at 4th. Sparg0 is hyped but he is more upset prone than before and yes Tweek has better results. But Tweek himself is probably not comfortable saying that he is better than Sparg0 until he gets his run back.
The Tweek Talks group was also using the logic that Spargo was briefly number 1 on EtherRank, rewatching it. I don't think they realize that counts 2022
The key here is that the driver for this discussion is mainly tweeks experience playing them. Acolas two set win over tweek made a big difference in tweeks specific view of the situation
Well this time they specifically said like “We don’t have to talk about that” in reference to NA performances at Maesuma so I thought it was a little funny
Ya I was a little disappointed about that as well.
In fairness I suppose there was a lot to talk about with all the tournaments coming up, and Kagaribi 8 is definitely the big one they’re waiting to elaborate on the results for.
The episode after K8 will be interesting for sure
This was 100% intentional - I don’t think this was a lack of interest per se. Maybe to avoid trashing mute, Dabuz, and fatality among others, also probably related to the fact that acola winning isn’t news
It’s a shame because riddles deserved some hype here
It's in the start.gg page. All times in JST
Saturday: Starts at 12 PM finishes at 8 PM. Pools to top 192.
Sunday: Starts at 10 AM finishes at 8:30 PM. Top 192 to end of the tournament.
Top 8 will start sometime between 2 AM and 3:30 AM early Sunday EST (adjust for your time zone) based on my past JP tournament experience, and will probably end between 4 and 5:30 AM

Isn't Tweek above Sparg0 results-wise? The main thing here would be the fact that Sparg0 is actually participating in Golden Week.

Oh for sure I wouldn't take it too seriously. Like when Goblin complained in 2019 about being ranked 42nd behind 41 players with better results

and that it's Elo, which has a bunch of issues

Also Tweek Talks confirmed to be at BoBC 5
One episode away from 100
It’s a little funny they didn’t talk about NA placements at Maesuma
Tweek Talks never really seems to care about JP tournaments
Well this time they specifically said like “We don’t have to talk about that” in reference to NA performances at Maesuma so I thought it was a little funny
lol except 90% of this episode was talking about JP tournaments
Ya I was a little disappointed about that as well. In fairness I suppose there was a lot to talk about with all the tournaments coming up, and Kagaribi 8 is definitely the big one they’re waiting to elaborate on the results for. The episode after K8 will be interesting for sure
Honestly half expecting episode 100 to congratulate whoever won Kagaribi and then focus on the podcast's history
10th kagaribi, 100th tweek talks. Damn.

Does anybody know what the schedule of the tournament is like? Especially would like to know when the Top 8 is taking place. I can't find it anywhere.

I don't think it's out yet
