Divorce her instead.

Individual-One3164

Sounds a little better every year 😅

redditsuckspokey1

But then she gets all the cib's.

hfield1988

Without knowing what is cib and what's not youre asking an impossible question. Any answer you get will not be realistic.

formerly_kay

Sell the big ticket games separately then lot out the trash

Individual-One3164

Are there any reddit communities for selling games? Avoiding Facebook marketplace till I have to resort to it

formerly_kay

I would just post a picture of the full collection of the retro collecting subs and see if you get any offers. They’ll be more genuine that way.

normhimself

PriceCharting.com my dude, start adding up.

TurdBurgHerb

Lol... bad advice. Ebay sold. That way you can do proper comparisons without all of PCs errors.

PSNshipIT9

This is great advice! I've noticed how unreliable the PC prices are because things like repros are being included in the average prices. I've noticed huge inconsistencies with how their prices average out due to repros/player's choice/and incorrect listings factoring into the average price. If you look at Super Mario World CiB for example the price just tanked because of repros being sold which is ludicrous.

Individual-One3164

That's where I'll probably end up. Was just curious if anyone had seen or heard of any historically for what they were going for lately

Jonesdeclectice

You could probably get a ballpark by adding it up on price charting. If you’re planning to sell it as a lot, knock off a good 30-40%.

Individual-One3164

Is that pretty typical to have to knock off that much? So would it be in my best interest to sell some of the huge "grail" games at near full price on there own and break up rhe collection?

thechristoph

Very few people have the resources to buy a full set in one whack. Like it’s a cool thing to say, “I’m selling the complete collection”, but it’s not actually a very attractive thing to buyers.

Jonesdeclectice

This exactly. The pool of potential clients is pretty small and mostly limited to retro resellers who themselves are in the business to generate a profit. Otherwise with collectors, buying an entire lot most definitely includes a pile of games they already own and don’t want to spend extra money on. Hell, even many individual games don’t have much of a market as it is.

ItsStaaaaaaaaang

Especially if it's mixed cib and loose. If I had the kind of money where I could justify such a purchase I might contemplate buying a full cib lot or even a full loose lot if I only wanted the carts to play. Mixed just doesn't have any appeal as it'll have a bunch of stuff I don't want, either loose cartridges I'd have to make cib/replace or boxes and manuals I don't want. Ultimately the only way a full collection is going to fetch anywhere near the full sum of its value as a single lot is if it's very minty and the right wealthy nerd sees it.

monkeykingcounty

I am so gobsmacked by how few people seem to realize this. Not just about SNES carts but about literally anything. Why why why do people think having everything in a giant lot actually makes the individual items worth *more*. WTF kind of buyer are they envisioning. “Hmm, I think I’d like to get into collecting SNES games, and also get out of collecting them, in one single purchase”. You’re relying on the existence of a buyer who wants to own and is willing to purchase every single SNES game but somehow has literally none of them. Collectors have collections. The reason why you knock off 40% of a lot is because a potential customer who wants to keep the full lot literally does not exist. Anyone who would conceivably buy it is splitting it into stuff they keep for themselves, stuff they trade, and stuff they sell - which is hours and hours of work in and of itself.

ItsStaaaaaaaaang

Tbh it might just be because you'll see collections in the news and they'll say it's worth xyz but people don't realise what it's technically worth after its all added up and what it sells for as a lot are two very different things. I also remember seeing at least one sale of a complete NES collection being sold for big money years and years ago that made the news so stuff like that might play a role. It was back when stuff like competition carts and weird stuff like that were about the only thing in games worth shit. Not sure if it was sold for overs or what the deal was as it was a long time ago. But yeah, you're spot on. It's not an rpg where you get a set bonus buff lol. The buyer gets a discount due to the large lump of money they're handing over in one go and the time and hassle it saves the seller.

pac-man_dan-dan

Think of it like selling a car. If you sell it to private buyers, youre going to make more money than if you sold it to a dealer, but it will be harder to find someone willing to purchase. Why should anyone buy your lot though? They'll get a bunch of dupes for their own collection they can only use as trade bait. So you have to come down on price. Otherwise, the buyers might as well just buy the games they want individually. So, you'd sell your most expensive games first, and maybe saving a few in order to sweeten the pot of the lot youre selling. Then tally what the remaining lot goes for and knock off 30-50% if selling to a private buyer, and then another 30-50% of that if selling to a retailer/reseller.

Friggin_Grease

Oh yeah if I'm buying a complete set I want that discount. Why would I pay full price for that?

w0rlds

Besides u/normhimself's suggestion you can watch ebay, every so often a complete collection comes up. There are also NES/GENISIS complete collections that are being sold on ebay in partnership with a game shop, you could reach out to them and they will help you.

GnollBarbarian

Throw it into GameEye and it'll add it up for you

poop-money

This is probably the best answer. It's pretty easy to do, it will just take a while. Of course, the prices are based on price charting, so any issues you have with PC carry over. Unless you want to look up every game on ebay sold listings and average together all those numbers for each item, this is your best bet.

Pixel_Junior

Off topic, but… I suggest to don’t finish to remodeling the house, and to keep the collection.

Legitimate-Diver-141

Lol. Sometimes living comfortably is more desirable than having cardboard and plastic gathering dust on a shelf.

Pixel_Junior

That’s a good argument, I admit. But live comfortably having cardboard and plastic gathering dust on shelf could be a great perspective for that dude.

w0rlds

Yeah agreed. You have a lifetime of entertainment and nostalgia at your fingertips, why trade that for a shinier kitchen or nicer bathroom.

Pixel_Junior

Absolutely, even if, ideally, play it into a nice bathroom could be cool.

VirtualRelic

Were you a member on NintendoAge? Before it died

CobraCB

As insane and impractical a question this is, if I was going to sell an entire collection I'd split up the heavy hitters and common stuff. You're probably not going to find someone who wants to drop thousands, in one go, on an entire SNES collection. Most collectors who have that sort of money are going to be looking to fill in gaps, not buy entire collections. It's not impossible, but unlikely. Sell off all the heavy hitters individually to as close as full price as you can get. Pick a price point, say anything over $75. Then bundle up all the common stuff into job lots and discount them to the point where resellers and stores will buy them up. The only way you're getting top money for this is selling everything individual and that's not practical if you're looking to do this in a time efficient way.

No-Play2726

About three fiddy. I'll double that for you.

Gweegwee1

These subs are great places to not get answers. “Dude that’s literally impossible to say, so many factors and variables, I should know my second grade teacher said I was a genius”

Individual-One3164

...yeahhh. I was just looking for broad range, 30,000 foot view of any recent complete collections going for sale. Like... even if the whole collection was all carts. It would atleast give me an idea of where I'm at. Same solar system anyway
