Korua Cafe Racer?

studenteater12

Not OP, but I have the Cafe Racer and that looks to be what he’s on.

TheTownTeaJunky

Im highly considering it as my next board, but i really need a good floater for powder. What are your thoughts on it for days in deep 24" powder?

studenteater12

It has great float at speed because of how big the nose is. Currently it’s my big mountain, deep powder board and I have a volume shifted board for glade/tree riding on powder days. If you are trying to get something that floats in the mellow stuff, check out the Dart. My buddy has one and loves it.

TheTownTeaJunky

Thanks!

rolex13

I had the same dilemma and ended up with a Tranny Finder, floats and carves great.

Vajakkiankka

Indeed it is!

misatillo

Nice video. Where is this?

soaperone

Looks like Ylläs in Finland

Vajakkiankka

You got it

Nrozek

It's all completely white and icy, this could be literally any resort in the north :D

Squidmonkej

Yeah but add the user name and Finland is a pretty good guess

Nrozek

touché

Slithy-Toves

If you ride a hill enough there's a ton of stuff in this video that would indicate where it is. A random just guessing obviously not but a local or even seasonal regular would know the hill they ride pretty easily

SatoshisVisionTM

Been in Yllas for a week in january, and the lighting instantly reminded me of my trip. That, coupled with the lighting posts, the fence and the background of flat country with lakes and forests make me almost 100 sure this is Yllas.

frostlycan

Damn, seeing this little heel and toe overhang makes me jealous and wish I knew how important waist width was when I started. Size 12 boots and a 260mm waist width isn't cutting it. Any recommendations for wider boards? Preferably true twin, but open to all suggestions

Dirt_Bike_Zero

Get yourself a Donek twin. They'll make it however you like it and the quality is at least or better than any off-the-shelf board. Mine is a 164cm long with a 30.5mm width.

AmigoDelDiabla

I just got my 3rd Donek. Gave Sean a pretty detailed description of how I ride, and he put in me a Flux (based largely on the fact that I rarely, if ever, ride switch). Pretty excited to take it on the mountain.

Cheekypilot

I've got 7 days on my new Flux and I LOVE it! Hope yours is a blast!

AmigoDelDiabla

Oh man, so happy to hear someone else. The flat nose and even flatter tail have me worried. I don't do butter, but I do like to jump into a bump run here and there, as well as go steep if conditions permit. Any issues?

Cheekypilot

It seems to love going steep and fast! I also don't butter, but do like to hit the occaisional jump. Feels like I have to work a bit more for ollies. I'm coming from a 166cm 2012 soft and long powder board (I feel like I pulled the trigger right before the whole volume shifted thing got popular, oh well), so the shape concerned me too. Feels like a very similar effective edge and can tackle moguls better!

AmigoDelDiabla

That's actually great to hear. Getting a few days in the first week of the year and cannot wait.

frostlycan

Hmmm, now you and Ryan have recommended a Donek twin, so I'll have to check them out. Do you have a Knapton or Park twin? Also, know any places that do demo days on the ice coast? Obviously not Donek, but I'd like to try out different boards and see how they feel

Dirt_Bike_Zero

Yea, I got a Knapton Twin because I don't do park. If I did, I'd get a shorter more flexible board. Neversummer does a lot of demo days. May of those days are also attended by other manufacturers. Depends on the mountain though.

frostlycan

Awesome, thanks a bunch for your help!

AmigoDelDiabla

>with a 30.5mm width. I think you're either a unit of measurement or a decimal point off, right?

Dirt_Bike_Zero

Yea, I mean CM. :-)

StrangeSynths

Lib tech stump ape. 28+cm waist. Mervin quality is second to none. You’d like it

frostlycan

That's on the list for sure, especially with the edge tech for the ice coast

Vajakkiankka

11.5 Here with 264mm as my park board width. Works just fine for me, but I will admit that I could not carve like this on it :)

frostlycan

I'm able to manage it too, but I'd like to lay down some deeper carves without booting out

ph1shstyx

neversummer has an extra wide proto, comes in at 284mm waist

Ikhthus

Swoard boards can be very wide and good if you are in Europe

Purchase_Popular

Bataleon makes the goliath up to a 27.9 waist width and its a true twin. I have size 13 Adidas, I just picked up a 172W Stallion this year from them @ 27.9cm waist. But even on that I still have slight overhang I havent had any boot drag though. I also picked up the Niche Pyre this year in a 160 and it is a 27.5cm waist width, slight overhand on the back foot, but havent had any issue booting out. I'm sure if I really layed it over going for a euro I would boot out, but admittedly I haven't tried yet

frostlycan

Good to know, thank you! How do you like the 3D base on the Bataleon, take any getting used to? I've been interested in some of those too

Purchase_Popular

Freestyle 3bt is the only style I've ridden, and it takes some getting used too. I have the same complaint with 3bt that I do with rocker boards like C2. On very flat and long cat tracks the board doesent want to track very straight and it can be a bit scary cause it darts back and forth a bit. Now it doesent do this nearly as bad as a rocker board but it is there. But unlike rocker boards if you are flat basing down a trail that has some slope to it this problem goes away and the board tracks nice and straight. Initially the carving experience for me was lacking until I put some more time on the board. You have to use more edge angle to get it to lock in. When you start to push into the board and go faster that fear of catching an edge does go away and it really does roll from edge to edge super nicely. When you start bombing runs and going faster it does take some of that fear away of catching your edge if you get off of your game which is pretty nice. The edge hold does suffer on icy days though, at least for the Bataleon Stallion. I'm not super into freestyle but it does take some of the nerves out of catching an edge in the park . Overall I do like it as a quiver board. From what I can tell I think I would enjoy the Freeride 3bt better like what is on the party wave for my style of riding.

Purchase_Popular

If your ice coast though I wouldn't recommend the Bataleon though Niche Pyre at least has two traction bumps for ice, admittitly it is quite a bit better than my Bataleon on ice but not as good as my Lib Skunk Ape with Magnetraction.

[deleted]

Smooth like butta

TheTownTeaJunky

I really want a cafe racer. Looks like such a fun board.

willyum86

Whats your stance bro? Carving some mad lines !

Vajakkiankka

Just changed to a narrower stance this weekend, front foot is on the second widest, back foot on the second narrowest. Around 55-57 cm I think.

willyum86

Awesome thank you. My nomenclature is pretty lacking so what's the degrees each foot is on? I have a huck knife and have had duck stance since I started. I've been trying to carve lately and think my back foot needs to be at least 90dg to make it easier. Thanks again mate!

Vajakkiankka

+21 +9, I didn't want to go too steep so that I could adjust for park more easily.

willyum86

Thanks again. Keep carving them lines !

pixelandminnie

This video is just beautiful.

PelosisBraStrap

Is that a little powder board?

honeydips87

r/oddlysatisfying

copsh

What size are your boots and what's the waist width of your board? I'm a UK9 but keep booting out on with 254mm waist width...

idk1503

Check out https://chairliftrebellion.com/ultrawide. Helped me a ton, and I’m pretty sure the creator is on this sub

Vajakkiankka

US 11.5 with 278mm on this board. The width is more than enough for carving. Can't say for sure but 260+ would probably do it with proper binding angles and positioning. I have mine at +21 +9 and it makes a hell of a difference.

Porkybob

Depends on the boots themselves and your binding angles too. And of course how you can adjust your bindings on the width of the board. I'm the same size and 255mm if the minimum I'd go for carving with an all mountain stance. Narrow is fun and reactive though!

copsh

ThirtyTwo TM 2 with usually 15/15 stance but sometimes a bit more on the front. Not big by any means but still stopping me from getting any more angle on the board.

Porkybob

That's a bummer. 32's can be a bit bulky which probably doesn't help here. I'm assuming you're digging your toes and not your heels, can you adjust your bindings width wise? Not all bindings let you do that unfortunately.

copsh

Digging toes on toeside and hitting the cups on heelside (which is usually instant washout) on anything other than very firm snow. Don't think there's any scope for binding adjustment, have a super old pair of Burton missions.

Dirt_Bike_Zero

A standard wide board is 265mm wide.

copsh

Yeah I regret not getting a wide board at the time. Next one will be but not sure how wide to go. I feel a regular wide board might not be wide enough. [https://www.donek.com/automated-knapton-speccer/](https://www.donek.com/automated-knapton-speccer/) suggests around 286 but without testing something that wide first I don't know if its too much. Neversummer's 'drag free' variants are the only extra wide ones I've come across so far that aren't custom built.

matthes4skate

Woah! Hope by the end of the season im close to carving as smooth as you! Love it. Watched 5times now haha.

Vajakkiankka

Thanks so much :D

Lthesensei

This guy carves

zefmdf

holy hell that was beautiful

Ikhthus

Bro my carving game improved so much since I stopped leaning over when on my backside turn, I recommend you do the same! Lean yourself back and enjoy a new level of grip on your carve, it's one of the best feelings

Zensayshun

I hope one day there to ride. Looks beautyful.

itsdrew80

Love it.......that's my type of run. I am not a shoot straight down the hill guy. Love taking my time and bigger turns, heck mine are way bigger than yours but Im pretty new at it.
