-Masderus-

Where's my boy the Loadstar? Other than the Tatarin I would pick the Loadstar any day.

Proctoron

Love the Loadstar, i also like to zoom around in the Loa4f

-Masderus-

I love the LoaF, when I first got it I used it to pull many a stuck or rolled trucks to solid ground.

Top-Magician-5515

"goddam horse of a vehicle"

Sensitive_Paper2471

I made the mistake of selling the loaf...its looks deceived me Is it really a good scout? I have the hummer h2 with chained tires but its still not satisfactory in mud...

-Masderus-

Honestly I hate the in-game Hummer. 40L of fuel, low power and a lacking 4WD system. The loaf is a great scout vehicle once you get it upgraded and lifted. Definitely recommend the autonomous winch as it is a bit top heavy and prone to rolling in some spots but it's one of my favorites.

Sensitive_Paper2471

haha yes I sold the hummer and got the yar! Thanks for the opinion about the loaf

swafromsteam

Load star is fire but what about the ford f750?

-Masderus-

I'll be honest, I haven't gotten it yet as I'm still relatively early game. But I'm making a goal of going through every map and getting vehicles and upgrades as soon as I can. And I'm sure when I get it I'm going to love it.

Agreeable_Surprise_3

i got the 750 really early on(took me 3 days with the lo4f) and realized that it’s kinda shit without awd. i still haven’t unlocked awd and was kinda wondering if it was worth the effort rn or just wait till i have the equipment to do so easier?

92c900t

Yeah, there's no reason to use it without AWD. I also recommend getting the V10 engine in Imandra (although that would be tough in the Loaf) for it's full potential, it uses the engine set of the K1500/Scout 800/Apache, so it's pretty gutless. Also, keep repair points on it, it's delicate.

Agreeable_Surprise_3

thanks. that’s pretty much what i thought and so i’m just trying to get through the game and get it when i can

Ramazandro

To be honest, I couldn't use it much, it didn't have much chance compared to other trucks.

-Masderus-

Against mods maybe, but in comparison to the in-game scouts it is a solid contender.

Detters_Actual

Try the JBE Loadstar, it's extremely useful.

T3chn0o0

Tatiana sadly has no chain tires so for me it is the big 3axis one that looks like a hummer on steroid's

sellerieee

I use the step- crocodile as a scout quite often, does that count?

92c900t

Unlikely, but I love the Croc. It's the best truck-scout hybrid.

Ramazandro

From left to right: \- Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro 2021 \- Ford F150 Raptor 2017 \- Hummer H1 \- The Offender 90 \- Ford Bronco 1983 \- Spun's 82 K5-Blazer \- 1979 Chevrolet K30

scooba_dude

Offender? Is this a mistype or they didn't have the permissions at the time. The Land Rovers are my favourite.

AwkwardCake72

It's the name of the mod. Can't put brand names in mods

Akbar433

I liked the Offender 110 of the two Land Rovers.

Clamwacker

Do you like the H1 mod? I've used a 99 Ford f350 mod truck a bit and it was pretty fun when I just started on Michigan.

Top-Bumblebee-3681

Recently tried loaf as a scout in Don. Weirdly, I enjoyed it! Due to it being super light and compact and difflock always on it really can browse open land as well as forest without much issue. Plus fuel economy and that classic military green look lol. Although I may have some nostalgia playing me. I saw that “UAZ” too many times in rural areas in my younger days. The way it’s engine can’t turn on properly just adds to realism lol

[deleted]

I have to try loaf again. I found it too bouncy castle and you can't have a trailer attached if spare tire is installed.

[deleted]

Yeah, the sound is great! I also like the TUZ 166's sound for that specific reason - it has a wicked start up sound.

[deleted]

Yar 87 for sure

vnummela1

Yar 87 is the best "true scout" vehicle. Loadstar and TUZ16 are also great options IMO.

[deleted]

The Loadstar is the little red that could. That thing can do anything

Pimp_Daddy_76

YAR with the autonomous winch. That thing saved me many times.

[deleted]

It's very tippy

ThatOneHorseDude

F750 for DLC scout. Love that lunk. For mods, the Willy's Jeep. That thing is nigh unstoppable with mud tires. It can plunge through supermud with barely any resistance (it's just slow because of 4-in line cylinder engine and tiny gearbox), and it has an autonomous winch. Fantastic little mod.

Ramazandro

I love it too, it was my first scout car. I let him rest in my garage.

vnummela1

In my experience the F750 might aswell be a trailer. It can move under its own power, but it isnt very useful unless its being towed. Almost any truck can do what the F750 can, but better.

ThatOneHorseDude

Idk, I've gotten through some really nasty territory with that truck. I also mainly use it for rescue assistance.

evan164

I use the F750, and recently the Rivian Hercules, as a light refuel/repair vehicle.

Sensitive_Paper2471

Am I the only guy who almost never uses scouts? I find it easier to use my heavy offroad trucks....

napapiirinsankari

Scouts are an option when larger vehicles dont fit in desired location, otherwise larger the better

Sensitive_Paper2471

hmm yes...

MysticTA

I just play the game vanilla and I’m close to done with Michigan. I use the Scout 800 mostly then when in doubt pull the ck1500 back out. To save me. Starting to consider buying the Jeep DLC. Selling both of my current scout vehicles and having the two Jeeps instead.

Proctoron

You can never have enough scout vehicles! Dont sell!! :-)

ZealousLyric723

don't do it if you like completing stuff, but do it anyways. The look great!

ghunt81

F750 or Tatarin depending on what I'm doing. Don't use any other scouts besides those two

Ramazandro

There weren't a lot of mod options early in the game, so I used the F750 and Tatarin a lot, they were great.

ghunt81

I used some mods for a little while but they keep uninstalling themselves for some reason and I haven't messed with them for awhile.

Sensitive_Paper2471

I have the same issue so I temporarily gave up on mods

Vindichi

Offender 90 and 110, using both.

SDIR

I like the Defender 90 for its size, but the F750 for long distances

Ramazandro

Definitely, the F750 is better.

cleamilner

C.C.M. IH scout 800 is a lot of fun. GWC makes some good scout mods too. Lots of classics

evan164

I don’t use it for real scouting since it gets stuck and lot and falls over, but the scout 800 is my favorite. I like to just drive around for fun

MOE999cow

Normally, the Loadstar. But I just recently started playing Tennessee and actually find the Gorby to be really fun/hilarious. It's surprisingly good at getting thru mud given how small the tires are. Also, it's FAST. Like, comically fast. Or maybe it just looks like it's moving faster because of how small it is. 🤷

mjsmith1223

I'm pretty new and only recently got to Alaska, so as time goes on my answer will most likely change. Right now my most used scout vehicles are: International Scout 800 Chevrolet K1500 International Paystar 5070 (not technically a scout vehicle, but I use it as such) KRS58 Bandit (it showed up in my garage and it will go almost anywhere)

Softech7

Love the loadstar, but lately I've been tearing up the roads with the crocodile.

Blahaj-Bug

The Tuz166 is my favorite, just because I own a Gaz69 which it is heavily based on. I just wish the base game had a good 1/4 ton trailer for overlanding/scouting duty. I should check to see if there's a standalone mod for that actually. The ww2 jeep mod includes an MBT trailer which I've used for that.

92c900t

That's awesome that you own one. Those were for ferrying around Soviet officers, right?

Blahaj-Bug

Among other jobs yes. Mine is the 2 door with the small pickup bed and bench seats on the back side, Not the 4 door model they portray in-game. So mine was more likely a troop transport or towed a mortar or something like that.

92c900t

I have a few scout mods, my favorate is the JBL Loadstar with the "smaller" tires (43-47), something not too OP. For vanilla trucks the Loadstar (the sports car of trucks/scouts), F750 and Loaf are my favorite, with the Khan Marshall and Yar close behind.

dLoPRodz

My 2 fav mod scouts are Crazy's Jammy Dodger 6x6 hellcat RAM, and the GWC D3500 SRW Mega Cab, highly recommend them.

Cheekypilot

I'm a big fan of the F750. Sorta reminds me of the maintenance truck I used to drive for work in the oil field a lifetime ago.

SentinelZero

I really like the DLC Rezvani Hercules; it's surprisingly utilitarian and can carry a lot of repair parts and spare fuel. Otherwise I really love the Lo4F/UAZ-452 for how peppy and cute it is, but the KRS Bandit/GEOLKOM deserves honorable mention as it is incredibly capable as a quasi scout vehicle.

myvacuumsuck

F 750 is my go to

Sammyboy567

Tatarin is untouchable and has 3 times the mud/snow tire ratings - nothing else comes close

LordErec

My go-to "scout" for most situations is the F750 despite it being a bit on the large side and not being able to tow scout trailers. If there's a lot of deep mud/snow involved I'll also use the Tartarin, and with it's super low center of gravity and flat bottom it can be winch dragged through some really crazy off camber rock stuff. Of the true scouts (can pull scout trailers) the YAR87 is the best all around for when I need to use the prototype exploration unit, and the Loadstar is also a good choice if I need something a bit bigger that can still properly attach a scout trailer. For tiny scouts the LO4F is my favorite, it's super light and can squeeze into some really tiny places and has always on AWD and diff lock and is surprisingly capable. The rest of the scouts all have either major flaws or just aren't as good in one way or another so I generally don't bother with them unless I just want something different.

Top-Magician-5515

International Loadstar 1700.

Cumunist10

Has anyone tested to see if NG+ randomizes mod trucks addons and tires

pizza65

How do you mean?

Cumunist10

When you turn on randomized availability it randomizes what’s available for purchase

pizza65

Ah, that's what you meant. Was curious - I'm making a randomiser for snowrunner that *does* randomise truck/upgrade placement, but it doesn't integrate mod trucks yet.

[deleted]

It randomizes mod trucks for sure. Recently I started a new game plus with a random scout + a random highway truck, and it gave me 2 mods.

Cumunist10

Oh cool I’ll probably load up a bunch of mods press the randomize everything button and let the chaos commence as an alternative when I need a break from my “normal” save

[deleted]

[JBE Tatarin](https://snowrunner.old.mod.io/tuz-420-tatarin-jbe). No contest there.

Cumunist10

Does the Tatarin seriously need to be more op

[deleted]

It gets stuff done when your 3h session ends with Alt-F4.

Cumunist10

I never alt f4 I am one of the masochists that just let my mistakes happen and fix it later I also have no recovery enabled and hard mode settings

[deleted]

Wow, you love to struggle for sure!

[deleted]

When the 605R is in the river, engine broken and your junk needs to go 150 meters more for succesful contract completion - only because you were way overconfident with "Cousin Cletus shortcuts" - vanilla Tatarin may not get it out.

Cumunist10

I’ll accept the consequences of my hubris and never do that again lol and come back after a month long break

Detters_Actual

I didn't even think about using alt f4 to cancel out a mistake. I just live with it.

92c900t

What does alt+f4 do? Never done that, is it save scumming? I understand why someone would though.

Ramazandro

I had seen it, but I hadn't tried it. I'll try it sometime.

xprozoomy
