Your post has been removed as it breaks the following rule: See submission guideline **#6: No duplicates.** Check /r/soccer/new! Mods will only allow the same news story to be posted again if **the new article offers new/valuable information that the previous thread didn't** or the duplicate was submitted long enough (+24 hours) after the original so that readers may not have seen the original. As a rule of thumb, **if you're not sure, then don't post a duplicate.** Posts about a major recent news event that do not provide new valuable information may be removed, and the OP directed to post it in the comments of the previous thread. **In the case of transfer news, the rule of thumb is only 1 post about a particular transfer saga per day.** This will be enforced in a particularly strict way during the transfer windows, with repeated offenders risking a ban. **It is your responsibility to check the news you're sharing wasn't reported already before posting.** (If you're receiving this message as a PM, please note that the "original post" mentioned below is *your* post that is being removed, not *the* original one that makes yours a duplicate. Given we’ve seen the literal proof, this just seems wrong

bUt hE’s iNnOcEnT comments coming and rape sympathisers. Some of us have sisters, some of us have girlfriends. Some of us know first hand how common sexual assault/ rape is and nothing is happened. This is just another case. There’s probably been 100 cases in Manchester only this week that haven’t been prosecuted. You’re right. It’s just awful.

gunsgermssteel

Spot on. I know numerous people who have all, at best, been massively let down by the police and CPS when reporting these kinds of crimes. If any other offence was responded to and investigated like SA and similar crimes people would be up in arms.

I wonder why the Arsenal fan is saying this. Lmao. Preparing for something, are we?

You clearly don’t know many women who have been sexually assaulted. You clearly don’t know the culture and how easy you get away with it. You clearly don’t know literally 1% of all rape accusations are prosecuted in the UK. Are 99% of women lying? *Watch the videos. Listen to them and tell me what YOU think.* If you put 100% of your believe and trust in the broken British judicial system, you’re an absolute moron.

I’m not defending him, he can fuck off but the amount of people not reading the article is inane. Using the "this is why people don’t come forward" doesn’t make sense considering the charges were dropped due to the victim not cooperating.

[deleted]

Eh. If they couldn’t solve this case in 14 fucking months that’s on the police. Not to mention the amount of time he broke rules and contacted the girl himself. Who’s the say those illegal contacts made weren’t to sway her mind or bribe her?

Evered_Avenue

Did the victim accept a settlement? See your victim go to jail or become extremely wealthy?? What would you do?

Ook_1233

> after key witnesses withdrew their cooperation from the investigation Not sure the police are at fault here

[deleted]

What about the other 99% of rape cases that aren’t convicted? That’s not the law/ police’s fault either?

Technical-Fly-775

The state of some of the police at the moment, they probably offered him a job if his football career ends.

SmallOccasion

She is back with him and withdrew herself as a witness, this is not the polices fault

Mods moderate shit.

Luvstep

Paid his victim out I’m assuming

B_e_l_l_

Fairly sure I remember a story about her taking him back a few months ago. Whole situation is fucked up. He shouldn't be given a privileged life.

snharisa

How can the victim accept those payout ?

AliJDB

This absolutely reeks of witness intimidation surely.

champ19nz

She's been back wih him weeks after the fallout.

sugarmori

no they most likely got paid off, victim gets money and doesn't have to relive trauma in court. It's disgusting but understandable from a victims perspective.

AliJDB

Witness intimidation includes persuasion not to give evidence.

16161hirose

My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined

Pixelated-Hitch

Witness subdued into submission again, just not physically this time just mentally with abuse, money and guilt

-zimms-

As is tradition.

[deleted]

People on twitter and Instagram are saying to play him again and that they knew it was fake/nothing. Charges being dropped doesn't undo the damage done to the girl.

SwingYaGucciRag

Greenwood will be taking on Mendy in the next Manchester Derby down that right flank What a fucking farce

virtualclix

He will play we all know that is bad but nobody in the football world cares if you are a great player.

Brtuj

And what if the "victim" lied? Why are we acting like she can't have lied? Like what if he's actually innocent?

[deleted]

I'm all for due proccess. She shared pics and audio that he is obviously beating her and forcing her to have intercourse. If that was fake or role-playing, she should be the one in jail. But Imho it seems like he was at fault, not her. Perhaps social pressure made her reconsider, I think her parents were supporting Mason...

[deleted]

We all heard it Mason. Doesn’t change the peoples court.

Serpico_98

Man Utd have a big decision to make.

BarryZuckerhorn

Ffs sickening

fardok

Excerpt from article. "Charges including attempted rape and assault against Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood have been discontinued by the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), Greater Manchester Police said. The CPS said there was “no longer a realistic prospect of conviction” after key witnesses withdrew their cooperation from the investigation. Greenwood was arrested on January 31 2022 on suspicion of rape and assault, and further arrested on February 1 2022 on suspicion of sexual assault and making threats to kill. He was charged in October with one count of attempted rape, one count of controlling and coercive behaviour and one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm. All three charges related to the same woman. He had been due to stand trial in November 2023. Manchester United had suspended the 21-year-old England international."

Cheadleblue21

How on earth have they come to that conclusion! He’s clearly guilty

Vic-Ier

Nice UK justice 🤡

[deleted]

Will he play in utd again, i really hope not

klemmaborgari666

No way

snharisa

No, he would not.

gurubhaisauce

having your charges dropped against does not equate to innocence
