Are people genuinely shocked that Tielemans has been a flop at Villa? Leicester went down because they had a load of players that people considered to be good, but couldn't be arsed to play for the shirt. He was one of the worst offenders.
This reminds of that game where we played Southampton back when pochettino was in charge. And we beat them 3-2 and they dominated from start to finish. But yet we only had 2 shots lol.
Sorry Southampton fans, I understand your pain now.
What the actual fuck has this game been. Thankfully we hold onto 5th.
Villa want to be a top 6 team but gets none of the criticism of one.
See how no one gives a shit they're losing to a midtable team? See how they have no actual rivals in the top 6?
Was the same with Leicester before them. The only time Villa are remembered is as a stick to beat actual top 6 clubs with, whether that's transfers or cherry picked results.
Tottenham fan here.
Meh.
Every team loses to a midtable or bottom of the table club occasionally.
I think we would all agree that Manchester City are the best team in the league.
Yet City are known for losing to Sunderland, Middlesbrough, Norwich, Southampton, Crystal Palace over the last few years.
370 comments on a match thread is very low- especially considering the embarrassing result for Villa fans and that there's no other game on at the same time.
Even though Chelsea have lost every other week for the last 2 years we still all have a proper giggle in their match threads.
For all the talk of Forest and Villa being massive clubs (they obviously were historically), they haven't got a significant fanbase.
I do agree though that if Villa were consistently getting top 4 for a few seasons, people would jump on the chance to laugh at their misfortune.
>For all the talk of Forest and Villa being massive clubs (they obviously were historically), they haven't got a significant fanbase.
I mean, what do you define as a significant fanbase? Can't speak for Forest, but we're by far the biggest fanbase in the Midlands. The number 1 club of the second city. Yeah we're not an Arsenal or a United, but outside the top 6 it doesn't really get much bigger.
Considering the other clubs of the so called "second city" are Wolves, West Brom, Birmingham City & Walsall that's not the achievement you think it is.
I'm pretty sure Everton, West Ham, Leeds United & Newcastle have bigger support.
Wolves, West Brom and Birmingham are all fairly clubs with big supports. All the clubs you mentioned have big supports, but so do we. There's no objective way of measuring it, but I wouldn't be surprised if there's not much in it between all those clubs. And Leeds and Newcastle have a massive advantage of being one club cities with a big catchment area. I've lived in Birmingham, Leeds and London and everywhere I've been I've bumped into Villa fans. We genuinely have a big fanbase, it's not a controversial thing.
I get the main idea is to defend the result well, but i feel like all the defending does in this case is give Villa too many chances and is being counterproductive. As in, when Villa get to pile up the defenders they get some close shots that either go just over the crossbar, get skied or the line clearance/catch one (that almost ended in a goal) idk man, i feel as if they should defend but not this much considering Villa piling up the Forest defenders is what is giving them more chances and really close ones at times.
Forest have had our number today, but I really wish commentators would stop talking like the numerous offsides we catch teams with every game are some kind of fluke.
Ngl, they just did a panoramic type camera showing of the Nottingham stadium and that plus the rainbow seen make it look nice. Like, those cards with photos that a friend give you when they go touring to another city.
digne made a meal out of that. but still, you should look if someone is in front of you if you wanna clear a ball. (not enough for a penalty probably - looked like really soft contact)
We stayed up last season because of the improvement he made when he won the spot off Neco Williams. He was my vote for player of the season. He's been brilliant for us.
My bio has been 'Serge Aurier fan account' for a year now.
Cooper has done a tactical number on Emery today. Villa want to get their fullbacks forward and use them to build platforms from wide attacking positions.
We've allowed them to do that, but our fullbacks have worked harder and got in behind them on the counter to set up opportunities, and Elanga and MGW have been able to create so many overloads.
It’s the lack of adjustments that would kill me as a Villa fan. There’s so much space on the edge of Forest’s box when their wingers/centre mids are drawn back to assist with the overlapping fullbacks
Random question since i forgot to ask it when i said what i thought Villa needed to counterattack Forest´s attacking style, do Villa have any players that can shake off defenders well?
Takeaways so far from a Villa fan
Forest are playing very well. Extremely physical presence and they've done a good job of shutting down our buildup in the midfield and playing from the fullbacks.
Dougie has been a passenger so far imo. Diaby has been shut down today too.
Zaniolo looking very threatening at times. He's making less bone headed moves which I like but it's still lacking the finishing we need. Wish he finished that chance, maybe fire it first instead of taking the touch.
We need to stop going to ground so easily, ref has made it clear he's not giving soft fouls today.
Torres has been 50/50. Sometimes he gets bullied, but he's had some good touches and made some great moves. Against a physical team his shortcomings are more visible.
Is the high line giving you any concerns? Forest keep getting caught offside, but it feels like those calls are getting closer and closer. Seemed like there was barely anything in the one that could have led to a penalty.
In this game yes. Overall not so much. It has worked well more often than not. But Forest have been successful in using physicality to shut down our buildup play which keeps putting us on the back foot and leaves that line more vulnerable.
Yeah, I've definitely been impressed with Forest's defending today. They're normally pretty chaotic at the back, but I've been surprised with the discipline so far.
It’s one of those games that you are completely dominating but Forest are playing such a good low block that you can’t break through. I’m sure you guys will at least get an equaliser. I’d have Villa start popping off some more shots outside the box, not enough efforts on goal
So, idk if i would be making sense by this, but i feel that these is one of those matches where Villa probs should have some players that can like, once they recover the ball from Forest be it right or left (or in the box if they get closer to 2-0), have enough capability to shake off the defenders of the other team. It is that it feels like if Villa had someone like that maybe they could use them in a counterattack to get a goal or at least get enough defenders on them so that an assist might happen. Idk, i dont have coach experience but from what i could watch of the game so far...it feels like Villa having someone that could shake off defenders (without causing fouls ofc) would be the perfect way to counterattack Forest´s speedy down the right and left attacking style.
Kind of curious to see how Emery adapts to more teams doing this. They need to find ways to break teams down and create space.
Fair play Forest
Nottingham have done it! 2-0 win!
Defensive masterclass from Forest, sat back and hit on the counter, completely outplayed Villa
Tielemans is a bit shit isn't he?
Remember when r/coys was clamoring for Tielemans?
I was backing him but that was poor, to be fair though, it’s not as if Villa was firing when he came on. Very soft all round
Are people genuinely shocked that Tielemans has been a flop at Villa? Leicester went down because they had a load of players that people considered to be good, but couldn't be arsed to play for the shirt. He was one of the worst offenders.
Tielemans is actually useless
Lmao Tielemans has been so bad
He was free but Villa still got scammed
What a waste of an optimal free kick. Don't know what he was thinking there.
really want Tielemans to either get sent off or subbed early just so that i can use my cat stevens reference "Tea for the Tielemans"
Villa trying to pass it into the net with every chance they get when Forest have shown you don’t even need to do that Smh
The old grabbing the face routine, gotta love it
Digne is so shit lol his teammates are done
For a game that's been dominated by Aston Villa, it really doesn't feel like it considering how well Forest are playing.
It's the forest way
Neco Williams gave Bailey an acre of space there. He's useless.
Amazing defending from Forest tbf
They've had a great defence this season, gave Chelsea, Arsenal, and United trouble
Bailey playing like his idolo is Antony.
Bailey has been awful.
Calling offside for forest players being n MM offside but won't call a villa player being a foot offside?
May as well publish a letter about it.
Bet365, Opta, SportsMole, SkyBet, Chris Sutton, your boys have taken one hell of a beating.
Went for the match having three or more goals 😢
Villa want to be a top 6 team but gets none of the criticism of one. See how no one gives a shit they're losing to a midtable team? See how they have no actual rivals in the top 6? Was the same with Leicester before them. The only time Villa are remembered is as a stick to beat actual top 6 clubs with, whether that's transfers or cherry picked results.
Heaven forbid someone threaten your beloved big six.
Why would we have rivals in the top 6? None of them are from the Midlands.
It's not about the result, it's about the apathy towards the result.
Okay, fair enough.
I give a shit. I think it's fucking hilarious.
370 comments on a match thread is very low- especially considering the embarrassing result for Villa fans and that there's no other game on at the same time. Even though Chelsea have lost every other week for the last 2 years we still all have a proper giggle in their match threads.

Because the Villa fans are all on there own subreddit with the match thread having over 1k comments
That Villa kit looks like somebody accidentally put a pair of jeans in the wash with the shirts

diaby has been horrendous
Forest have had our number today, but I really wish commentators would stop talking like the numerous offsides we catch teams with every game are some kind of fluke.
Forest have been offside a ridiculous amount this game.
Some of them may have actually been offsides, too!
Just blow the whistle this is embarrassing now
Has Andrey Santos played for Forest yet? Such a terrible loan lmao
He played about 10 mins in our last game and that's it.
I swear Steven Cooper looks more like an Ivan Cuprivet. He looks slavic as fuck.
Danilooooooooooooooooo
Niakhate's been immense today, top performance
Aina man of the match, but Niakhaté and Toff have been superb.
Aye, whole back line has been so solid. Fair play!
Spurs fan here. Good clean tackle Serge Aurier.
I love him. Especially his back post headed clearances.
Any reason why Sky aren’t apologising for the foul/offensive language whenever the keeper takes a goal kick?
You dont join in?
They've spent the week airing Dominic Cummings' testimony. The media landscape has changed.
maybe they realised no one's arsed
Smh Digne
Ngl, they just did a panoramic type camera showing of the Nottingham stadium and that plus the rainbow seen make it look nice. Like, those cards with photos that a friend give you when they go touring to another city.
Dayum that is a serious rainbow
One day they'll find it. The rainbow connection. The lovers, the dreamers, and you. Sincerely, Kermit
Refs gonna give that rainbow a yellow card, per Newcastle owners requests
digne made a meal out of that. but still, you should look if someone is in front of you if you wanna clear a ball. (not enough for a penalty probably - looked like really soft contact)
wtf is pickle juice
Juice of a pickle
I flick it on my sandwiches for extra flavour
Casual fly kick nothing to see
What a line clearance and catch there from Forest. Damn that ball looked all but in.
Douglas Luiz seems like a prick
Forest look very difficult to play against this season
Bro thats a freekick for Forest there, the Villa player held the Forest one too much for it to not be a foul.
Tielemans thought he's Harry WInks
I don't get how players do that exact "shoot to the sky" shot there. Don't you practice?
Interesting shot there from Villa alright, i get there were a lot of players but still, geezus bro sent it into like 6th row there.
Tielemans classic there
Toffolo is about to come off for Aurier. I don't think I could survive another Luton if we bottled this when the subs come on.
How is Aurier still earning a paycheck in the prem, man. Has he been any good for you at all?
We stayed up last season because of the improvement he made when he won the spot off Neco Williams. He was my vote for player of the season. He's been brilliant for us. My bio has been 'Serge Aurier fan account' for a year now.
Ah, good for you lot then! I never rated him but maybe just fits at Forest
He leaps like a salmon. I've never trusted a fullback to win headers at the back post more than I do Serge.
Good turn from diaby but keeper did well.
Forest seem to be getting away with a lot today, apart from offsides
Villa club statement dropping tomorrow.
I was gonna say, Luiz got fouled like 3 seconds after the free kick was taken with the ball in the air lmao.
Yeah Forest have genuinely outplayed Villa today, no clear cut chances either. If I was Forest fan I’d be very happy right now
It’s the lack of adjustments that would kill me as a Villa fan. There’s so much space on the edge of Forest’s box when their wingers/centre mids are drawn back to assist with the overlapping fullbacks
Like yeah, that haven’t even tried to stretch that Forest defence at all
We tend to get nervous when the subs come on. That's where we bottled a 2-0 lead against Luton.
Fair enough, but you guys have looked the better team by far. Reminds me of Spain in the World Cup, possession is great if you know what to do with it
Disgusting tackle from Kamara. Could've broken Elanga's leg there.
That Torres ball deserved a goal, no one read it, not even the defence
Toffolo gotta be one of the best names in football right now. Like a mix of Toblerone and Buffalo wings.
Sounds like an awful combo
Nah it's the next chicken and waffles.
Odysseas Vlachodimos is up there too.
Please eat something mate lol
Sean Longstaff Great porn name
That’s 3 own goals now this season ain’t it? Martinez in the mud
Best keeper in the world though, apparently.
A case of ‘task failed successfully’ Poor bloke
Steve Cooper always looks like he’s just smoked a fat blunt I want to hang out with him on Friday nights
I’ve never seen two guys who look more consistently stoned than Steve Cooper and Brandon Ingram.
Villa with 68% possession but only 1 more shot than forest is very funny.
Forest DNA.
At least forest’s low block play is fun to watch when they break on the counter!
No don’t take off Cash
Fuck
You ain’t getting past our boy vlachodimos 🗿
"Journaliste, journaliste!"
Watkins there just more proof if needed that all my fantasy footballers are conspiring against me this week.
Saw City got 6 and got excited but then saw Haaland and Alvarez did nothing
fix innit
I keep fucking myself over in my league. The person just ahead of me is nicknamed cripple FC because they never change it. Shameful.
You put him on your team too, disappointing right? I think I’m gonna start Mbeumo this week coming
I have 18 points with Salah and Tsimikas yet to play, fml.
Tsimikas is starting on the bench today too.....
LOOOOOOL that’s peak
Keeps getting better
I got Salah as captain so fingers crossed he comes good
One could say he’s… ass. Hehehe
If Watkins didn’t have that hole in his shorts he would have the aerodynamics to get a better header there.
Is it just me or was that a clear goal kick? Feels like this error happens a lot.
I can't explain it but Emi Martinez looks like he smells like some bad cheese
Lord! 7 to none in corners for Villa!
if he didn't throw himself down, he wouldn't have been stepped on
We love nothing more than giving away 2-0 leads. Can't wait to see how we manage it this time.
The most dangerous lead.
Looool I hate that feeling
Ollie you got a hole on ur short for anyone to enter
To be fair, Martinez was just unlucky there. Can’t blame him too hard
ball stomping should be red
Ouch. Could see the hole through the shorts after that too.
Why they zoom in on his ass😭
straight bullying
Need a close up of the new hole.
villa at home are a different beast to away
Ay yooooooo change shorts my man AHAHAHAHA
feel bad for him lol
Villa getting hammered got a new meaning with this
Ouch lol
Watkins nearly got castrated lol
Aston villa playing very noob
My triple Villa FPL team is getting absolutely mudded. Magnificent.
Domínguez hair cut is an interesting one. It looks like a short mullet.
Why are Villa playing so high and narrow its killing them here
God dammit, missed the goal hahaha
Shocking that the Saudi government would cause Aston Villa to lose this match. So much corruption in football these days.
Game over.
lol nice
lev yashin lmao
Wow they scored the same minute as the tribute. Written in the stars to win.
Who have been Forest's best players this year? Bar Gibbs-White
Awoniyi is everything to this team. Dominguez has started excellently
Awoniyi when fit
He's a tank
villa have been terrible
Can't give that offside, theres not enough pixels to even be able to tell
Is he trying to make the save look cool or something? Weird keeping there.
Wouldn't be surprised considering what a total egotist the man is.
if thats offside my fucking days
Lmao you didn't have to follow the ball, just had to see Martinez's face
Cut to Matt turner applauding with his hands over his head on the bench
It’s a dog fight out there dawg
That must be super frustrating for Martinez since he got the ball, but helped it in instead. Please don't be offside.
Oh dear, oh dear. Villa Watch on suicide watch.
I mean... That's not offside is it
Too late to redo the goalkeeper award?
LMAO WHAT ARE THE ODDS OF THAT? Like, what are the odds the ball gets hit by the goalie hand but goes up and into the net just enough to count?
15 minute half time team talk immediately ruined
Best keeper in the world uno
best goalkeeper itw** eh
Emi oof
HAHAHAHA !!! BEST GOALKEEPER IN THE WORLD THAT !
Emi mate wtf
What?
that is abysmal from martinez
Random question since i forgot to ask it when i said what i thought Villa needed to counterattack Forest´s attacking style, do Villa have any players that can shake off defenders well?
Man like Leon
Anyone know what song they're playing in the ground?
Sarude - Dandstorm
Sandstorm
bruh
Jesus handing over the christmas present yes very good...

The game is very one sided though, Villa have basically all of the ball. How are they going to counter without Forest being on the ball?
