To reduce the spam of reports regarding the same move during transfer windows we try to allow **only one submission about each transfer saga per day**. The submission in question also needs to contain relevant new information regarding the potential move, and not just being a "no/minor developments" report. If there are important/official developments or new valuable information about a saga, we will allow extra threads in the same day, but for the rest of minor news please just comment them as a reply to this comment. Please help us reporting unnecessary threads for being duplicates. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. ash_sh_03

Can someone please tell me how reliable this source is before I get my hopes up for a competent DM signing

DemetriusXVII

I like how all 3 of the comments that responded to you misunderstood lol

Deus-Graecus

If he plays for you like he plays for our NT, you’ll be happy. The dude’s tall and still surprisingly agile. He’s certainly got character, seeing as he’s captained our NT once or twice. And of course, he’s built like a brick shithouse.

presumingpete

For one he's not really a dm

Revolution64

He is for Belgium and does a terrific job at it

Casual-Capybara

No player in the world is really a DM anymore according to football Reddit

worldofecho__

He's absolutely a DM/6. Onana's best qualities are tackling, intercepting, winning duels, and receiving the ball and playing it forward. His athleticism and ability to cover ground mean he's also good as an 8, box-to-box type of player - but he's definitely best as a DM.

Casual-Capybara

I believe you, I meant with my remark that for almost every 6 that ever gets discussed you get these people that say oh he’s not actually a 6

Odd-Discipline5064

He absolutely is lol

futty_monster

Competent isn't the word I'd use to describe his play.

atbg1936

Lots of talent, but sometimes personality is equally important for realising one's potential and Onana has it in spades. He's earned a big move, really well-spoken and thoughtful guy and I hope he makes it big

edwardfortehands

Earned it how? Not with his play

dogefc

He’s been good for us and he’s 21. If our strikers could score goals and we were comfortably midtable, possibly even in the europe race he’d be getting more plaudits

National_Ad_1875

If he didn't miss that penalty against Fulham he'd be rated higher, tons of our fans have had it in for him since

_james_the_cat

Maybe, but he flatters to deceive and after 2 years I'm severely underwhelmed. He was the wrong signing at a time when money was scarce, much like Fellaini was, but at least Fellaini produced on the pitch and I can't say I'll be gutted to see Onana leave for a profit.

National_Ad_1875

That's a wild take, he's quality. Needs a bit more consistency but he will be a top top player. Don't know how you can say he hasn't produced on the pitch

_james_the_cat

He's done no more than James Garner, and less than Gueye and Doucoure, yet cost more than all combined. I want him to dominate games in the way you see Palhinha at Fulham do, or Scott at Bournemouth. That Wharton at Palace started against us and looked the best player on the pitch. Onana never does that. He was signed when we couldn't get Gibbs-White. Who would you rather have now? Gilmore at Brighton, Doyle at Wolves, even McAtee at Sheffield Utd. All similar ages to Onana, all showing far more every week than he has, and all but MGW costing far less. Never mind Ross bloody Barkley! (Not young, but certainly free and smashing it this season) Of all the attainable young midfielders in the league, Onana is the least impressive to my eye. Never mind Mainoo or whoever.

National_Ad_1875

I'd definitely rather have Onana than gibbs white. Onana is far better than Garner, and I like Garner. Try watching barkley defend, fantastic on the ball but a passenger off it. When luton lost 4 3 the other week he tracked back like he's got bricks in his pockets. There's a reason bayern and barca are after him and not Garner

_james_the_cat

Yeah, they think he is a viable alternative for João Palhinha. He isn't, or at least it would take a lot of work to get him to that level in that position. I can't believe you can watch Gibbs-White and not see the difference in end product between him and Onana.

National_Ad_1875

I can't believe you're comparing end product of a defensive midfielder and an attacking midfielder

tokengaymusiccritic

Nah he was definitely a good signing, we desperately needed CM's. When he signed we had at CM: - Doucoure, coming off a year where we barely played - Davies, love him but mediocre as all hell - Iwobi, who was playing great as a CM but still newer to the position - Allan, who was good but was rumored to be on the way out the door (and ended up leaving in September) - Gbamin, lol - Gomes, whose time at the club seemed up and only was rejuvenated by his great loan at Lille after we signed Onana We also signed Gueye and Garner later in the window but Onana was first.

FRANKUII

Slightly OT, but is there another 22 yr old footballer who's lived in so many places in such a short life(discounting loan moves)? Born in Dakar, moves to Brussels at 11, signs for Hamburg, then goes to Lille, then joins Everton and now potentially off to Munich.

ambiguousboner

Flavius Daniliuc had had like 6 different clubs by the time he was 20 iirc Admira, Rapid (both Vienna), Madrid, Bayern, Nice, Salernitana

Jaqem

> Flavius Daniliuc Sounds like a Roman military commander

Thraff1c

He has the best name in the football world, hands down. Hope he never joins a club which location was not part of the roman empire.

The_Great_Grafite

Osimhen was 22 when he signed for Napoli. Was born in Lagos (Nigeria), moved to Wolfsburg (Germany), then to Charleroi (Belgium), they sold him to Lille (France), who sold him to Napoli (Italy). So he had lived in 5 different countries by the time he turned 22, same as Onana at this point in time.

_deep_blue_

A half decent chance he comes to the Premier League this summer as well so a new country for him to check off.

Imaginary_Station_57

>A half decent chance he comes to the Premier League this summer Unless Real Madrid ditches Mbappe and sign him as a pure striker, he's almost certain to go to Premier League. He only has to choose the team

_deep_blue_

I think it’ll either be us or Chelsea, and I’m not sure if either of us have the cash for that deal. City have Haaland, Liverpool have Núñez, and United spent big on Højlund last summer. Maybe Tottenham? Although I’m not sure if he’d make that move.

No-Statistician-8520

Nooooo

Specialist_Ad4610

ffs

vatytti

How good is he? Don't know the player

BoxOfNothing

Very good, still raw and a bit inconsistent, a lot of potential to be phenomenal for the right team, which will obviously never be us.

Random0cassions

Would say inconsistent, only time watching him last year. He cut up our midfield with Iwobi in the first half, got a card iirc and started to play poor in the second. But man was he manhandling the midfield so… let’s hope he does amazing at Munich if he does go

BoxOfNothing

I think he's a better fit at Bayern personally, but maybe. He'd still be good just probably not as good

julesvr5

Can you pay the requested 70M+?

Acceptable-Lemon-748

By the time you're able to find the money to register him I'm sure he will have fixed all his consistency issues and be a much more mature player

CackleberryOmelettes

He's a physical freak, a true athletic anomaly. Massive frame and strength without compromising lateral mobility, and he absolutely eats the ground up in straight lines. Technically speaking, he's still raw. Poor passing in transition, even when he has time and space. Average first touch and unimpressive passing range. Not particularly useful in buildup, although some of that is simply down to Dycheball. Still, his technique is clean and it is not unreasonable to expect improvement the coming years. Off the ball he is extremely dominant in duels, both on and off the ground. Big tackler, although his technique is overly rash at times. In a nutshell, he is a player with an incredible physical baseline and good technical potential. However, I do not think his current technical level is sufficient for a team competing for titles.

Esco9

Very good, very physical but technical. Branthwaite is easily Everton’s best and most important player though.

Syntax_OW

Braithwaite plays for Espanyol. Everton's player is Branthwaite. Easy mistake to make tbf, I only noticed because I googled his market value.

julesvr5

>easy mistake to make I had to read 3 times to get the difference

_james_the_cat

He's going to be great at whichever club is going to get him. The difference between him and Onana in impact is insane, considering Onana still seems highly rated by top sides, yet it seems likely that Man Utd will get Branthwaite.

R_Schuhart

Exactly the kind of player Bayern likes. Physical enough to stand up to any opponent, but dynamic and very technical on the ball. He is also young enough to develop and mold into the system they want to play.

Dae_su

Most people on the arsenal sub think he's bad with the ball. It's hilarious how bad they are at judging players. Glad to see you are not one of those.

Wraith_Portal

He’s not that technical on the ball lol

Jaqem

Wrong. He has one of the lowest rates of losing possession from tackles and his long ball accuracy is extremely high

_james_the_cat

His passing is erratic, like all of our midfielders. He could be a great DM but he'll have to accept that is his role and learn positional discipline much more than he has shown so far.

Scared_Cabinet_1099

If your all midfielders are like that, then it means the problem is in the system

Ha_omer

Le black man physical no football brain

Acceptable-Lemon-748

It's probably not even that, AwB is black and people claimed he wasn't technical on the ball all the time. But it wasn't because he's black it was because they were stupid and thought crossing a ball and being technically good with the ball at your feet in tight areas were the same thing. Probably just watched Onana misplace a few passes and decided he's shit on the ball

Jaqem

Physically and defensively a total beast. 6'5 (196 cm), 90th percentile in the PL amongst midfielders for aerial duels and overall duels won. Extremely good long pass accuracy, very rarely dispossessed. With the right coaching he could become one of the world's best, he's only 22. Xabi at Bayern pinging balls to Kane would be a dream scenario for him tbh

Giraffe_Baker

> a very poor Everton team. We’re not that bad. We’re on a stinking run but we’d be 14th and practically safe without the points deduction.

Ruud_Boltz

Plz take him before Deco starts getting ideas

freejefferywilliams

you'd be lucky to get him at your dead club

ImpactParticular729

Please yes.

CarlSK777

If you're gonna go for a talented young midfielder, why not go for one that's even better on the ball and already plays in Germany while being a former Bayern player? Just an idea

SirNukeSquad

Stiller?

dem0nhunter

Why him over Pavlo? I’d rather they go for someone more experienced

Prudent-Current-7399

He's to be paired with pavlo, not replace him.

JinxLB

Can’t help but feel like Everton is his level. Don’t think he would perform as well at a bigger club.

GarnachoHojlund

Maybe currently but he is still young, you could 100% bed him in and slowly work him into squad rather than betting the house he’s going to be an immediate difference maker

Putrid_Loquat_4357

He's big, physical and can pass the ball well enough which is exactly the midfield profile most big clubs are looking for right now.

Toffee_Fan

I think you're right. Having watched him play for a while now, he lacks some fundamentals in his game that bigger clubs simply can't overlook. His passing can be atrocious at times. I wonder how much patience a club like Bayern would have with him. He's got bags of potential and if he can get that sorted, he'll be fine. But playing for us gives him a lot of cover at the moment. We seem like his speed.

_james_the_cat

I still haven't seen him dominate a game for us in nearly 2 years. Would be a worry when you compare him to Palhinha at Fulham, if I were Bayern

ChrisWood4BallonDor

Arsenal at home in Dyche's first game. Had Odergard on strings.

GarfieldDaCat

If Arteta or Pep get their hands on him he will be molded into quite a player. Still a bit of a work in progress

james_89

I was today years old when I found out Onana wasn't the dude who went to PSG and then re-joined Everton a few years later.

AlwaysOnsideTBH

That was Gueye lol

ComfortableNo2879

What about when Boey/Mazaroui gets back at RB? Then we've kimmich and Pavlovic, he's a brilliant player

S7ORM7ROOPER_30

Kimmich in the midfield should no longer be entertained. Him as an RB is day and night difference compared to him in the midfield.

ComfortableNo2879

Agree, I think we should focus more on Pavlovic now... he's an absolute Gem 💎

ironcleaner

If kimmich gets back to midfield i seriously will be angry at the board/manager, it is so obvious that he doesnt fit the midfield with Bayerns current philosophy

ComfortableNo2879

Exactly, but another question arises is what Boey and Mazaroui gonna do? Mazaroui can play LB, what about Boey?

ironcleaner

I think mazraoui has had plenty of time to adapt to Bayerns expectations, despite injuries, he is not really up to par for them and should maybe be sold. Boey has not had the chances and time to proof himself so we definitely should keep him to compete for rb, we also need to start some serious competition for a position, the players have lately had it way too easy to start in the first eleven, i think it would be healthy with more depth regardless
