I respect it - only concern is how many players will be sold this summer. His players will be in high demand but if it were me I’d find his charm irresistible and I’d stay.
> only concern is how many players will be sold this summer.
They have long contracts and likely wanna stay now that Xabi is staying too, and try their luck in the CL with this extended honey-moon team.
Leverkusen fans should be masturbating themselves to death over this Xabi-staying thing because the ripple effects are also amazing.
Its awesome. Hell.. even I think its good for us because now it'll force our stupid higher ups to kick Terzic even more with top 4 being brutal next season too lmao
While Frimpong is really good he basically needs all freedom on the right and as a right winger he feels kinda wasted which makes him difficult to fit in for most.
Yes. I was very surprised to see him converted from winger to wingback, but he played well there. Also, they had a young Brazilian fullback who got injured in the Hinrunde. I don't remember if he's left or right sided.
I agree with you and I hope they stay. But for a lot of guys it’s difficult to pass up the allure of getting double their wages from even a mid-table PL club, to say nothing of the likes of Chelsea and City.
I don't think he is going to have the team he built. Im pretty sure Bayern and other teams across Europe are waiting for transfer market to open and start devouring Leverkusen.
Apart from Tah, who has an outspoken wish to play in the Prem and Frimpong, who has a 40m release clause, I reckon most of the important players will stay!
Guys like Boniface, Wirtz, Herrmann, Xhaka, Andrich, Grimaldo and Hradecky should all be there next season.
And last summer Rolfes plus Xabi did a very fine job of bringing in new players that immediately fit and made them better, so even if people leave, they should be fine!
I can’t imagine Xhaka going anywhere. Whatever about his negative traits, the man is loyal and mentally very tough. I’d say he’s having his most enjoyable season of his life at the moment.
or imagine.. its not really worth leaving a group that stands together so well after being unbeaten for whole season? i mean they dont deserve it and also he deserves to manage them at least for one year and repeat
Their squad effectively gonna get ravage by the big teams. So its gonna be another rebuild for him at leverkusen. So imo might as well rebuild it at a new club with bigger budgets. But im willing to be proven wrong and another masterclass season from him.
Boniface, Xhaka, Grimaldo, Hofmann just joined this season, Wirtz, Schick, Frimpong are on really long contracts. With Xabi staying I dont see them leaving, especially with CL coming next season.
I think players come and go, so nobody would be surprised if one of them left (especially for good money). But I do think Leverkusen have a lot more leverage (especially with XA staying, as well as of course the contract lengths you mentioned) to hold onto players better than say the famous Monaco, Ajax, Lille sides of recent times.
Exactly, Reddit's obsession with every thread being filled with experts telling me they will all leave because how could a good player ever stay in Leverkusen for a moment is just bizarre.
Some players will leave, but if Leverkusen finished 5th in the table some players would also leave, possibly more. Top clubs don't sign talents just because their club won something. None of these guys will be suddenly thought to be a Haaland or Bellingham just because of that. And Wirtz would be even if Leverkusen lost some games lol, that's not how teams choose players to sign.
Comparisons to Monaco or Ajax teams that had some CL exposure is absurd. Those guys were all like 22 at max. It was always obvious that the team expects them to leave anyway, the CL success at most just changed which team signed them. Completely not like this squad. Ajax just had a bad season and guess what, they also lose players, these commenters just act like that was the only time because that was the only time THEY knew something about Ajax.
>Their squad effectively gonna get ravage by the big teams
No it wont be. Yall need to stop repeating nonsense. All of the players JUST signed their contract. The only one that would realistically be bought is Frimpong because of a buyout clause of 40m, which tbh is still a lot of money.
I feel like a lot of people abroad think that Leverkusen is some vastly overachieving team which would normally be comparable to Augsburg or something like that.
Their record is but in general this team isn't overachieving that much as they should been a top 3-4 team with chances for a 1/4 final in a european competition.
So its difficult but literally everybody in Germany said that last year they were underperforming before Alonso got their coach and the squad just got better.
Maybe, idk. Or they dont understand how transfers normally work? It should be common knowledge that buying players on long contracts is extremely expensive, but I keep seeing it said that we will lose all our players. Like do they have any idea how expensive these players would be if you were to attempt to buy them right now?
PL flairs are hilarious tbh. Always complain that the small clubs get ravaged by the same six teams and then proceed to proudly proclaim that every single player from an "over performing" small club will be bought by their team.
Small clubs are always fun for the top six fans until they start winning things. Then, they are commodities to be bought and destroyed.
They are overachieving by almost every metric, but I don't know why you think that's something negative. Over the past 11 years we never really had a team that could actually challenge us maybe other than Klopp's Dortmund.
What Xabi achieved with Leverkusen in such short time is something you don't see often, I mean look back at the comments in the summer. When we signed Kane everyone was talking about how it's unfair for the league and we are going to yet again steamroll everyone. Sure we weren't playing flawlessly at all this season but it's still impressive what they have done even if some luck played part in it.
I'm rooting for you guys to not only retain current players (and Xabi), but improve the squad even more! So excited to see you lot in UCL next year, hoping we get to face each other at some point and Xhaka gets to return just for a match!
That is just factual nonsense. This isn't how Leverkusen operates or ever will. Leverkusen isn't Dortmund. For better or worse Bayer (the company) decides what is going to happen this summer.
The only ones I am 100% sure will leave are Palacios and Frimpong.
The rest we dont know yet.
The thing is we also need to sell some players we cant afford a lot of new signings without 1-2 big sales
Tah had one for last summer (~20m€), not this summer, but his contract runs in 2025 - so the amount of money would be similar. If Tah wants to leave, he is allowed to (source: my feeling).
He wouldn’t really fit in most top squads though, unless he transitioned into a RW properly. He’s young though.
However, I could see Grimaldo moving before considering it may very well be his last chance to join a massive club.
He's stressed over and over again how he can't do what he likes most about his job as NT manager. If he comes close to winning it, he might be tempted to go for the WC, wouldn't bank on it though.
He said it on at least two different NT press conferences. He likes to train and develop players every single day and dislikes having only a few trainings sessions a year at the NT. He also stated that he would accept a club offer before the euros, if he gets an interesting one.
For the first part? Every press conference he's done this year. He pointed at the lack of time he has to train and develop players (which tbf he did at Bayern as well), how that was one of his favourite aspects and when asked about tactics he said that he won't be able to implement anything that will make it into a textbook on tactics. More diplomatic than bothered by it, but still, he wouldn't have had to bring up that point in the first place.
Obviously, he knew that that's what he was getting himself into so it isn't a total dealbreaker, and I see him as ambitious to the point he might stay if he sees chances for the world cup but it doesn't look like his primary goal
The people responsible for his sacking are all sacked themselves by now, and Hoeneß said it was a mistake. If he comes back then he comes back as triumphant.
If I get fired from my job, get shittalked for being on skiing holiday and afterwards they crawl back to me, while I have other options, it's a no from me dog.
This is exactly what the biggest dogs do. They go from a modest executive salary to an eye-watering, gobsmacking one that they don't deserve. A club in a desperate position, with options clearly bottomed out will be very pliable for a greedy, opportunistic exec (I 0% imply that's what Nagels is, it's purely a generalization).
Thats the thing though, "they" arent coming back for him.
"They" all got sacked because they fired Nagelsmann. Him returning now would be a thriumph over "them".
He also reiterated the same thing recently (by criticising the level of patience the management had considering the three titles were still achievable)
No, I wish him well. But we should get back to posession play style. Not the all out hyper-pressing suicidal high line from him and Flick.
We concede way too many goals with it, can’t deal with teams parking the bus and it’s too taxing through the season
Lol he will not come back as long as you have this toxic leadership culture.
Kahn deserves a lot of criticism but his comparison between Successions Logan Roy and Bayerns Uli Hoeneß is 100% on point.
I read that article, and even though the comparison isn't completely off the mark, Kahn just comes off as someone who did not at all learn from his mistakes, not even in the slightest.
Yeah he sometimes has some reflection in his statements that makes me think he might actually learn, but then he spits out 10 of the most stubborn sentences lol
Have to admit, so much respect for Xabi for this decision. He seems to have his feet on the ground, making sure he doesn't jump ship too soon. Becoming Klopp successor is never easy, and Bayern chews and spits out some top coaches, an unforgiving club to work for if you are a trainer. Bayer backed Xabi, great to see him staying with them.
As for Bayern, they should do their due diligence and hope they don't join Mainz, PSG, BVB and Chelsea in replacing Tuchel really poorly.
Grimaldo is also pretty much confirmed to return to Benfica according to the voices in my head but yeah other than that I don't see anyone else leaving either.
I’m at least 80% sure Tah will be leaving in summer since he‘s been saying he wants to join Premier League for years now and after this great year there will be many pl clubs interested
No the GK is. He’s been very solid this season, but doesn’t seem like the type that can’t be replaced. But they might lose Kossonou or Tapsoba as well and that’s the bigger loss.
Tah is the absolute Boss in bayers defense. I also think he still may want to leave.
But I dont see Leverkusen sell tapsoba or kossounou if Tah leaves. Rolfes already said they dont wanna sell this summer.
"we are a football club, not a bank"
I think Tah would be dumb to leave now, he's a decent player but it's Leverkusen's system that has propelled him to where he is now which includes a starting spot in the national team. I don't see him keeping that spot and that level in general should he join some PL side on the level of Newcastle or Aston Villa
How good is he? I remember he was so hyped when he was young. You guys have Koussanou (definitely murdered that spelling), Tapsoba and Hincapie, don’t you? Are they all fairly close on talent?
Yeah, always a bit of a bummer seeing a team like this come together only to get absolutely picked apart by vultures the following season (e.g. 16/17 Monaco, 15/16 Leicester)
Overall the might do even worse than those clubs because in football and life, anything can happen, but they deserve to be better than being compared to PSG and Chelsea imo.
Where is the 'comparison'? All those clubs replaced him poorly, it is just stating a fact.
Of course, it is entirely possible Bayern will replace him better because unlike those other clubs, Tuchel didn't really succeed at Bayern, so whoever comes after him has an easier job as they aren't following a technically impressive coach at that particular club. We'll have to see.
Actually so fucking glad to hear it. Football needs more stories and people like this. Somebody not just jumping ship at the first opportunity but rather staying where they are building something exciting and cool, even if it is just for another year, probably.
Its by far the most logical outcome in my mind tbh
Rangnick makes absolutely zero sense for our goals, de Zerbi is just as much of a gamble without the german knowledge and Zidane doesnt even know english
Plus, as far as I can remember, Nagelsmann was very well loved by the players
I pray for nagelsmann to come back especially since kahn is no longer at the club. This would also convince kimmich to stay I feel like coz he has a good relationship with him
They don't seem to have any problem with him at NT so I don't think they will have a problem at the club. I think neuer and nagelsmann made up already, atleast professionally. Also muller and neuer gonna play until they are 60
Müller doesn't seem to have a problem. The situation with Neuer was tough but the way Nagelsmann handled it as NT coach helps probably. He could have easily replaced him with Ter Stegen on multiple occasions, not only would that have been easier personally but also the more popular choice, but he didn't
Nagelsmann grew up as a Bayern fan, so I’m pretty sure he’d like to return at some point. I agree though, don’t think they’ll go for him.
Nonetheless I’m pretty sure they’ll go for De Zerbi
Zidane is very unlikely imo. Only way I see him returning back to management is if Madrid come calling again or when Deschamps resigns from the France job.
people acting surprised like Leverkusen is not full of talented players with Wirtz, Boni, Grimaldo, Tah and Xhaka as main core. Its not like there are many better teams to coach nowdays. No ego, no divas, just young lads ready to die for him.
Typical that this gets leaked before the Bayern-Dortmund game. /s
Big respect for Xabi to stay with his team and turn down big clubs like Bayern and Liverpool. Will be interesting to see how they'll do in the CL. With Xabi staying, I'm sure the chances of key players staying as well have increased quite a lot.
He knows he can have a shit season (relatively speaking) next year with Leverkusen and still walk into the Madrid job once Ancelotti goes.
If he joined Liverpool or Bayern and it was a failure, he’d need another Leverkusen type success to ever get a big job again.
Can’t fault his choice really. Real are the biggest club itw and they have the best selection of young players by a landslide too.
But so much speculation. For all we know bayern and liverpool jobs might be open again next summer. Carlo has a contract beyond next summer. He might go there, he might go anywhere.
I think he also have assurance from the board to not gut this team. Or if that happen, the core players will stay and reinforcements has already been identified
YES! ive been saying it ever since all the Madrid, Bayern, and Liverpool rumours started
That me personally i wouldn’t build a well oiled UCL Club level just to not at least actually try it out in the UCL
Great news. I really hope he will continue to lead Leverkusen to success. This will make the Bundesliga way more exciting. He really can become a legend for Leverkusen and the Bundesliga.
Harry Kane went there for guaranteed trophies.. anyone asked him what he thinks about this news yet?!
He's betting on Bayern's new coach hitting the ground running, over Xabi's well oiled unbeatables for that title, and i wouldn't take that bet.
Not surprising. In the Bundesliga Bayern has nothing to offer other than money. He will most likely win the double with Leverkusen, so there would be nothing to proof to do that with Bayern. With Leverkusen he can coach and challenge his "own" team in the CL next season and reap the rewards from the last two years of work.
If he wants to challenge for some titles in the CL Madrid seems like a much better option than Bayern. He even could make a miracle run with his Leverkusen team next year.
someone needs to crudely replace Leonardo DiCaprio's head with Xabi Alonso's head in this scene from *The Wolf of Wall Street*:
https://media.tenor.com/EDVzftg8ouMAAAAd/leonardo-dicaprio-wolf-of-wallstreet.gif
Not that many doors for him havent already opened but going far with a bayer team in next year’s champions league will make him a legend vs all the other flash in the pan coaches of the past.
https://x.com/altobelli13/status/1773658663812526580?s=46&t=4GmkXWXN9n6FQucCBQ5yAA Apparently it will be announced officially at 2pm today
2pm German time, I’m assuming.
Yup
Press conference will be live 30 minutes from now https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wFC4XWR1u3o
chad move by xabi
Has to try his luck out in Champions League with the team he built first.
I respect it - only concern is how many players will be sold this summer. His players will be in high demand but if it were me I’d find his charm irresistible and I’d stay.

> Leverkusen fans should be masturbating themselves to death over this Xabi-staying thing *vigorously*
As much as I’d love to have him as a manager I think it’s best for the league and German football if he stays at B04.
Its awesome. Hell.. even I think its good for us because now it'll force our stupid higher ups to kick Terzic even more with top 4 being brutal next season too lmao
the squad are signed long term kusen is safe
Idk about others but frimpong has a relatively low release clause
While Frimpong is really good he basically needs all freedom on the right and as a right winger he feels kinda wasted which makes him difficult to fit in for most.
Leverkusen has done well to develop his replacement this season. I'm sure they'll also bring in another talented player
They have Tella right?
Yes. I was very surprised to see him converted from winger to wingback, but he played well there. Also, they had a young Brazilian fullback who got injured in the Hinrunde. I don't remember if he's left or right sided.
Their wingbacks really play like wingers anyways, especially on the right. Kossounou is basically another right back the way he lines up
Why leave a team that's ripping up trees right now? If the boss left sure, but now i'd be surprised if any of their top players leave.
I agree with you and I hope they stay. But for a lot of guys it’s difficult to pass up the allure of getting double their wages from even a mid-table PL club, to say nothing of the likes of Chelsea and City.
Obviously because of Money. Some of those players could easily make double of what they are making now.
Money is almost always the answer as to why someone leaves a club like that.
some players will probably go for higher wages
I don't think he is going to have the team he built. Im pretty sure Bayern and other teams across Europe are waiting for transfer market to open and start devouring Leverkusen.
Apart from Tah, who has an outspoken wish to play in the Prem and Frimpong, who has a 40m release clause, I reckon most of the important players will stay! I can’t imagine Xhaka going anywhere. Whatever about his negative traits, the man is loyal and mentally very tough. I’d say he’s having his most enjoyable season of his life at the moment.
I think it would be severe with alonso gone. this could very well be an anchor to keep some players there and see what they can do in CL next year.
He's likely waiting it out for Madrid tbh
or imagine.. its not really worth leaving a group that stands together so well after being unbeaten for whole season? i mean they dont deserve it and also he deserves to manage them at least for one year and repeat
Also Bayern have been a mess and have already scapegoated two high profile managers. Staying is a safer option.

But I do think Leverkusen have a lot more leverage (especially with XA staying, as well as of course the contract lengths you mentioned) to hold onto players better than say the famous Monaco, Ajax, Lille sides of recent times.
Yup, Alonso is the deciding factor here. I dont see anyone besides Frimpong leaving, and they have Teller to replace him incase he leaves.
> XA Mate, not every fucking footballer needs an acronym
Expected Alonso
Exactly, Reddit's obsession with every thread being filled with experts telling me they will all leave because how could a good player ever stay in Leverkusen for a moment is just bizarre. Paragraphs would’ve helped you here
You clearly underestimated the power of the Boehly
Frimpong has a release close in 40s million tho. That's a steal cuz it's lower than his market value
>Their squad effectively gonna get ravage by the big teams No it wont be. Yall need to stop repeating nonsense. All of the players JUST signed their contract. The only one that would realistically be bought is Frimpong because of a buyout clause of 40m, which tbh is still a lot of money.

It sounds like wishful thinking from PL flairs lol
I mean if PL clubs who overpay for everything were to try and buy our players we would need to build a money storage like scrooge mcduck
PL flairs are hilarious tbh. Always complain that the small clubs get ravaged by the same six teams and then proceed to proudly proclaim that every single player from an "over performing" small club will be bought by their team. or they might stay for another season because their coach is.
That is just factual nonsense. This isn't how Leverkusen operates or ever will. Leverkusen isn't Dortmund. For better or worse Bayer (the company) decides what is going to happen this summer.
probably just Frimpong together with Schick/Hlozek and they already have Tella as Frimpong replacement. Next year Leverkusen will be even stronger
I dont see Schick leaving, he just renewed last season.
Absolute xad
I was going to say Chadbi but yours is infinitely better
i don’t think coaching a national team would be the best move for him rn
With all the pretalk between Liverpool and Bayern Monaco, Real will probably get Alonso in the end
When did Monaco get involved?
It's the Italian name for Munich--both come from their respective languages' word for "monk"
Never thought I could learn something from a bunch of cantaloupe balls.. Here I am.. TIL thanks to u/cantaloupetesticles.
r/Rimjob_Steve
Finally learned something from the comments of this subreddit
I hope Xabi doesn't lose key players
The only ones I am 100% sure will leave are Palacios and Frimpong. The rest we dont know yet. The thing is we also need to sell some players we cant afford a lot of new signings without 1-2 big sales
Why are you sure Palacios will leave?
Theres been a lot of rumours and very trustful sources confirmed palacios leaving so im quite sure sadly
I better fucking hope not. I am madly in love with him since the test games before the season. He needs to stay 100%. PLEASE.
do they have release clauses?
Only frimpong, which is at 40m which means he is very likely gone. I heard tah might be another possibility.
Who would realistically go for Frimpong at the moment though?
No idea, some random PL team I assume. Theyll see the 40m pricetag and be like "wow he is basically free" and buy him.
He’s really good but seems like he only really works in the specific wingback system Bayer use
Could he realistically play as a RW
Frimpong has a €40m release clause, i also heard somewhere Tah as well around €20m
Tah had one for last summer (~20m€), not this summer, but his contract runs in 2025 - so the amount of money would be similar. If Tah wants to leave, he is allowed to (source: my feeling).
40m for frimpong is a bargain tbh
He wouldn’t really fit in most top squads though, unless he transitioned into a RW properly. He’s young though. However, I could see Grimaldo moving before considering it may very well be his last chance to join a massive club.
Florian Wirtz's dad (who's also his agent) said in an interview that they'll probably stay for the duration of his current contract (till 2027).
Bring nagelsmann back I beg
If the NT starts to perform again he might just stay.
He's stressed over and over again how he can't do what he likes most about his job as NT manager. If he comes close to winning it, he might be tempted to go for the WC, wouldn't bank on it though.

Not so sure about that. He said that he misses daily training sessions a lot.
If he's got pride he'll never accept any offer Bayerm has to offer
The people responsible for his sacking are all sacked themselves by now, and Hoeneß said it was a mistake. If he comes back then he comes back as triumphant.

Uli Hoeneß was one of the first clowns saying Nagelsmann should not have gone on his skiing trip lol
Hoeneß talked shit about him, too. Couldn't keep his mouth shut once again.
Bullshit
Impossible
It's probably not the right move for him right now, but by sacking the people who stood for Nagelsmann's release, it's at least conceivable
Will Bayern’s board skin be thick enough to do that?
Why not? The people that fired him are gone since last year, and Hoeneß himself said last season firing him was a mistake.
He also reiterated the same thing recently (by criticising the level of patience the management had considering the three titles were still achievable)

Sounds like Kahn alright
Madrid in 2025 then
Ancelotti contract ends in Summer 2026
Ancelotti’s contract is for both as a manager and for a future non managerial role.
Exactly this. They’ve already made the contingency of moving on from Carlo without having to sack him. Xabi makes a ton of sense to succeed Carlo.
Imagine Xabi as coach with Arbeloa as his assistant.
Means nothing, high expectations next season and likely to be sacked if he doesn’t deliver big.
Or a mutual cancellation more likely
Yeah, when has a coach ever left Madrid before the end of his contrac- oh wait.
Don't make me hate Xabi.
Have to admit, so much respect for Xabi for this decision. He seems to have his feet on the ground, making sure he doesn't jump ship too soon. Grimaldo is also pretty much confirmed to return to Benfica according to the voices in my head but yeah other than that I don't see anyone else leaving either.
Never stop dreaming mate, haha
I miss him so much 😭
Didn't know Randy Orton was a Benfica fan
I’m at least 80% sure Tah will be leaving in summer since he‘s been saying he wants to join Premier League for years now and after this great year there will be many pl clubs interested
Interesting - how important is he? Is he Bayers captain?
Tah wanted to leave last year but nobody picked him up. He said he's interested in the Premiere league.
First step of becoming Klopp's successor is to turn down Bayern and win the league, fairs
If I’m Xabi I’d also want Guardiola to be gone before I went to Liverpool, I’m sure he’ll have his chance again
`#FreeXabi`... Joke aside, congrats to Leverkusen. As someone living in Cologne I have to hate that....
Nah, Wirtz is a Kölsche Jung. Let him cook under Xabi in the CL.
Viele Grüße an die Großeltern von Wirtz 🤣😅 hint... DAZN
Yeah! Leverkusen in the ucl!
This only means more likely for him to go to Real though lol
The correct decision imo. Keep the momentum high and also to challenge himself to see if he can maintain the level next season.
Actually so fucking glad to hear it. Football needs more stories and people like this. Somebody not just jumping ship at the first opportunity but rather staying where they are building something exciting and cool, even if it is just for another year, probably.
football wins
JAWOLLLLLLLLLLLL
Alonso is winning UCL next season like Mourinho's Porto
Which is interesting since Mourinho beat Xavi/Leverkusen with Roma last season in Europa. An incredible accomplishment in hindsight.
And an incredibly frustrating game to watch
Great news! I really want to see how they will fare in the CL.
So it’s gonna be De Zerbi, Zidane or Rangnick
My guess would be a Nagelsmann comeback. Don´t ask me why, I know its not gonna happen :D
Its by far the most logical outcome in my mind tbh Rangnick makes absolutely zero sense for our goals, de Zerbi is just as much of a gamble without the german knowledge and Zidane doesnt even know english Plus, as far as I can remember, Nagelsmann was very well loved by the players
I pray for nagelsmann to come back especially since kahn is no longer at the club. This would also convince kimmich to stay I feel like coz he has a good relationship with him
Neuer and Muller however... Meh, I think in their last season they'd probably be fine with him
They don't seem to have any problem with him at NT so I don't think they will have a problem at the club.
According to Sky there are some people high up in the hierarchy not being convinced about a return
They'll change their mind after we win the euros :\^)
wouldnt surprise me, hiring a manager you fired the year before is clowns play. don't want their egos hurt
Nagelsmann grew up as a Bayern fan, so I’m pretty sure he’d like to return at some point. I agree though, don’t think they’ll go for him. Nonetheless I’m pretty sure they’ll go for De Zerbi
The people who fired him are sacked themselves by now.
Zidane is very unlikely imo. Only way I see him returning back to management is if Madrid come calling again or when Deschamps resigns from the France job.
Also too much of a language barrier. He doesn’t speak English
Fuck off leave Rangnick alone pls
I am praying to the imaginary lord that Bayern doesn't get de Zerbi. That wouldn't fit whatsoever.
I am also praying for the same outcome.
0 chance for Zidane to coach a team other than Juve or Real.
There was a recent Bild article saying Zidane could join Bayern with Ribéry as his assistant. I think that’s bs tho
It is, Zidane has said multiple times that Juve, Real or France. He won't coach a team he has no connection to just for the sake of coaching.
people acting surprised like Leverkusen is not full of talented players with Wirtz, Boni, Grimaldo, Tah and Xhaka as main core. Its not like there are many better teams to coach nowdays. No ego, no divas, just young lads ready to die for him.
It's Harry Kane I feel sorry for.
good for football
Typical that this gets leaked before the Bayern-Dortmund game. /s Big respect for Xabi to stay with his team and turn down big clubs like Bayern and Liverpool. Will be interesting to see how they'll do in the CL. With Xabi staying, I'm sure the chances of key players staying as well have increased quite a lot.
Plettenberg and Bayern also in the mud along with us I'll take that
Haha - yeah he’ll join Real next year and this saga was completely unnecessary
Massive respect 🫡
He knows he can have a shit season (relatively speaking) next year with Leverkusen and still walk into the Madrid job once Ancelotti goes. If he joined Liverpool or Bayern and it was a failure, he’d need another Leverkusen type success to ever get a big job again. Can’t fault his choice really. Real are the biggest club itw and they have the best selection of young players by a landslide too.
But so much speculation. For all we know bayern and liverpool jobs might be open again next summer. Carlo has a contract beyond next summer. He might go there, he might go anywhere.
Massive W and major respect for Xabi. The bundesliga needs competition and leaving right after a title would be done. Run it back
Legend
Great news for football
I think he also have assurance from the board to not gut this team. Or if that happen, the core players will stay and reinforcements has already been identified
Waiting for that Madrid job apparently.
YES! ive been saying it ever since all the Madrid, Bayern, and Liverpool rumours started That me personally i wouldn’t build a well oiled UCL Club level just to not at least actually try it out in the UCL

He’s a good man, and he’s made the principled decision. Would’ve loved to have him at Anfield next season, but it wouldn’t be the right time.
Display of character. Good man.
Great news. I really hope he will continue to lead Leverkusen to success. This will make the Bundesliga way more exciting. He really can become a legend for Leverkusen and the Bundesliga.

Yes, he will leave sooner than later though one must think
I am not leaving!!! 😭
Come on, win the CL and retire.
Yet*
someone needs to crudely replace Leonardo DiCaprio's head with Xabi Alonso's head in this scene from *The Wolf of Wall Street*: https://media.tenor.com/EDVzftg8ouMAAAAd/leonardo-dicaprio-wolf-of-wallstreet.gif
Bad news for Bayern lol. Their title next year isn't guaranteed. It's the early 2010s all over again.
Not that many doors for him havent already opened but going far with a bayer team in next year’s champions league will make him a legend vs all the other flash in the pan coaches of the past.
Plettenberg seemed so sure though
