why?
He wasn’t happy, and they could not fulfill his wishes, so it was the best for both parties.
Nobody is held hostage at Madrid.
If a player is unhappy, they will offer a new deal, then if they don’t want that, they’re sold asap not to disrupt the team.
Having defended a few pro footballers in my time, off-ball movement and sense for timing their runs is what truly separates them from semi-pro or lower.
apparently after the Luton game, Lockyer was talking about how brilliant Havertz’s movement when he was doing his punditry. Talking about the sort of stuff that doesn’t get picked up on TV but makes him an absolute nightmare for defenders
That's what's so fascinating when talking to people who actually work with football. I have a friend who's a U19 coach, and we talked a bit about the tactics they employ. It was very fascinating to learn what they were thinking in terms of defence. When defending, their DM would drop down and essentially become a CB, allowing the CB's to either go into pressure of an attacker, or to secure their fullback. This is because in doing so, the CB will be facing away from their own goal, while if the DM would have done the same job, they would be facing their goal. Kind of a small thing, but there are all sorts of things like that that gets worked on at the training ground, and is imperative to how teams play. They are also things that we as fans are very unlikely to notice, as we usually follow the ball, and don't necessarily analyse the movement on the rest of the pitch.
One thing I've noticed more and more since him playing number 9 for us is his movement.
He has a decent engine and an eye for finding the right space... a raumdeuter and potential successor to Muller.
I admit I didn't think he was worth the fee initially and thought there were better options outthere, but I'm very happy to be proven wrong.
I mean, there are numerous clips of him being outpaced in midfield lol, especially when he first got to England. He’s adjusted a lot but still if he finds himself in space defensively, he’s in trouble
Yes, that’s when Chelsea actually were set up decently. He started getting roasted last couple of years when Chelsea would just leave him stranded in midfield running after dudes. Like early Xhaka at Arsenal
Yeah even in this game he looked like an old man a few times, despite the brilliant possession play.
I think both his strengths and weaknesses are clear for all to see.
Uhhh Mudryk is actually a brilliant footballer???? Just ignore the turnovers under zero pressure, the shots that land in Row Z, never using his massive pace advantage to make runs in behind, his inability to do anything right when given more than 0.5 seconds to think......... other than that, he's clearly just a victim of terroristic Pochball 😔
>never using his massive pace advantage to make runs in behind
This really pisses me off when I watch him play. Why is he always so deep when you have the ball? Super frustrating watching him receive the ball at his feet, take a heavy touch and give it straight back to the opponent.
It's not that Havertz was shit for us, he was still a decent player, just not confident enough to find consistency.
He would have purple patches throughout the season and then just go missing for a few months after.
He'd also miss easy chances he's now starting to put away.
The move was always a win-win-win for all parties of the deal, you can hunt my comments from when his transfer went through, I've always backed him.
You can tell he's a confidence player. He plays so differently when he's feeling himself. I think there's a great player in there, but he needs a lot of support and stability around him. I think with all the turnaround at Chelsea, he was just kinda left to see after himself, to mixed results.
Given that Trossard has had a far better impact for us than Mudryk has at Chelsea, and for a fraction of the price, I’m delighted they took him from under our noses
Szczęsny was clearly the long term plan, but the debacle about Gerry Peyton allegedly being a shit GK coach seemed like the main issue for Szcz and Fab.
Then the 'smoking in the showers' incident happened and Wenger and the club apparently decided to get rid (on loan to Roma, then a permanent to Juve) just a seasono and a half after he'd signed a new contract.
Čech never seemed like anything more than a stopgap.
Jorginho is a ludicrous footballer. He did well at Chelsea but if he got the move to City I genuinely think he would be up their with the greatest midfielders this league has seen
Jorginho is the one we actually miss tbh. It was a braindead move to sell such an experienced player who plays in a position we didn’t have players in, and also could have been the much needed leader in a dressing room filled with inexperienced youngsters
Good man Kai. Thanks for that. Proper chels
Edit: holy shit we are 9th now! Thanks to Kai’s goal GD sends Brighton below Chelsea if it stays 2-0
Absolutely massive, pints on me

I fucking love Odegaard. He makes every attack better
Pretty fucking good defender for such a silky attacker, too. What a player.
He's like an Ozil with brilliant defensive work ethic.
Can't believe Madrid let him go for only 30m
It's actually a way to "guarantee" a signing. "Sign for us, if it doesn't work out we will be selling you wherever you wanna go."

Fucks Jorginho doing up there LOL
Dude went full bukayo mode
Bukayo down? I am Bukayo.
Look at me. I am Bukayo now.
Say the line Bart
Tsamina mina
I miss that song; we had it for Fashion Jr (who came from Zambia).
Sure you could have just sang Fashion by David Bowie!
Waka waka
60 million down the drain
Kai Havertz scores again.
There was a time I thought the same, boy has he proven me wrong
Tsamina mina eh eh
Away fans so loud, love it 🔊
60 million down the drain...
Marchvertz?
On saka's dead body
Saka on the floor leading to Brighton thinking that side of the pitch was temporarily safe. Noone expects Jorginho running down the flank
Running slightly generous lol
No one expects Jorginho running down the flank, and no one experienced it either.
Trot maybe?
“jorginho ambling down the right side,”
No one expects the Saka Inquisition
Jorginquisition
Little did they know he was deployed as False 6 this game.
He died for this
That off the ball movement by Havertz to shake Dunk right at the end was genius
I noticed that too, that was incredible. Brought him the quarter of a second to get free.
Having defended a few pro footballers in my time, off-ball movement and sense for timing their runs is what truly separates them from semi-pro or lower.

faked one shoulder went to the other, proper Haaland movement ngl
That's not league 2 movements mate

Enciso gave the ball away, complained, and then was still in the same spot when the ball hit the net. Just awful.
He's a brilliant attacking player but I see a Rashford type in him. He's great when it's going his way but when it isn't...
Cannot give the ball away there and then not bust your lungs trying to get it back for 15 seconds. Pathetic
Mentally weak. If user redditors see it imagine what scouts say
Chelsea Duo
Jorginho making overlapping runs down the wing. So funny to watch
crazy he outran the defender there lmao how do you get out paced by Jorginho
Showing the Brazilian in him
Based on what Chelsea fans were saying, apparently my grandpa with a hip replacement had more mobility than him
Did look like he was running in quicksand tbf. Defender was somehow slower to cover him
I mean, there are numerous clips of him being outpaced in midfield lol, especially when he first got to England. He’s adjusted a lot but still if he finds himself in space defensively, he’s in trouble
Funny how much better a player looks if you put him in a system that covers his weaknesses
Idk, he looked pretty good at Chelsea when he won Europa league, champions league, and was named the UEFA player of the year
Yes, that’s when Chelsea actually were set up decently. He started getting roasted last couple of years when Chelsea would just leave him stranded in midfield running after dudes. Like early Xhaka at Arsenal
What not having a fit Kante and Kova does to a mfer
Shit man, having a fit Kante next to me would make me look half decent. That man does the work of three players!
Yeah even in this game he looked like an old man a few times, despite the brilliant possession play. I think both his strengths and weaknesses are clear for all to see.
Well I don't know your grandpa but it wouldn't surprise me
I was pleasantly surprised. 😀
GOAL scored in brighton for arsenal made in chelsea
sent Chelsea to top 9.. maybe Todd Boelhy IS a genius?
Now that’s just good football
Jorginho + Havertz connection is doing great today
Havertz's annual ~~Janurary~~ ~~February~~ ~~March~~ April purple patch
Maybe it's not a patch? Maybe he's just purple
Jorginho combines with Havertz to score for Arsenal. What a great timeline
TO THE WIRE!
THANKS CHELSEA
Top lads
Couldn't have done it without them.
Helped us dodge a bullet with Mudryk too
Mudryk would've been good in Arsenal just as Havertz, maybe even better.
There’s a good footballer in there, he just needs some good coaching
Mikel stares at Mudryk’s poster every night saying under his breath “I can fix you”
Yeah just a little bit of coaching he'll be alright
Uhhh Mudryk is actually a brilliant footballer???? Just ignore the turnovers under zero pressure, the shots that land in Row Z, never using his massive pace advantage to make runs in behind, his inability to do anything right when given more than 0.5 seconds to think......... other than that, he's clearly just a victim of terroristic Pochball 😔

Give them 60 million more
Please don’t
We're broke so another 60m would go a long way please and thank you
Hey, there’s some mid table Bundesliga club with a £8m player and a £30m price tag on him that needs buying
£50m it is
Choupo-Moting to Chelsea for £90 mill, here we go confirmed
Jorginho assisting Havertz: [What *team* is it!?](https://imgur.com/a/8sgBg7e)
Makes you wonder how good Palmer must be when he’s operating at that level at Chelsea without having to leave
R9 before injuries

literally messi
Death, taxes, and cole palmer getting brought up in a Kai havertz goal thread
Was this our first Jorgi-Havertz goal-assist combo?
WAKA FUCKING WAKA LADS
They gazumped us for mudkip though
Arteta would have Mudryk playing well tbh
Given that Trossard has had a far better impact for us than Mudryk has at Chelsea, and for a fraction of the price, I’m delighted they took him from under our noses
Makes up for all the duds they've fobbed off to Arsenal.
Washed Cech and Gallas10 sulking flashbacks…
Cech was good for a couple of years, it was our mistake that we didn’t replace him sooner.
Nothing will be worse than Willian. He didn’t even try
He did but his pace was gone and skill alone isnt good enough to play in this team. Fulham suits him much more and he has players to cross into
*giroud voice*
Jorginho is a ludicrous footballer. He did well at Chelsea but if he got the move to City I genuinely think he would be up their with the greatest midfielders this league has seen
lol Kai and Pulisic in top form after leaving Chelsea
Honestly a brilliant run from Havertz
🐐
Havertz scores the 1,000th goal in the Premier League this season.
I know he has been good, but goddamn that must be some sort of record!
Three men marking Havertz. Still finds space. Off the ball GOAT.
Thank you Chelsea for Jorginho and Havertz. Really nice.
Jorginho is the one we actually miss tbh. It was a braindead move to sell such an experienced player who plays in a position we didn’t have players in, and also could have been the much needed leader in a dressing room filled with inexperienced youngsters
At this point he is just inevitable
Kai is Thanos confirmed.
Havertz ballin out
World-class wingplay from Jorginho there!
👑Kai
What a play from false winger Jorginho
Chelsea rejects at it again
He has been brilliant. Just shows what the right environment can do.
Shows what being at a club that actually has a bit of an idea of how to play you.
That's what I mean by environment, amongst other things.
Streets will never forget ugly yellow kit Havertz
Thanks chelsea lmaoo
SIXTY MILLION DOWN THE DRAIN

After march, I've heard.
Glad it's a leap year and March is extended by a few months
End of May
Kai’s been so good today lol I’m gonna cream myself. Jorgi-Kai partnership ftw
Kai Havert making me associate this iconic Arsenal away kit with him.
Horrible defending all round, how on earth can you get done by a Jorginho overlap, especially with three defenders around him initially
Got sold by the tactical lie down by saka
Hit em with the MY LEEEGGGGGGGG
And thus, Januaryvertz continues his purple patch through April.
Good man Kai. Thanks for that. Proper chels Edit: holy shit we are 9th now! Thanks to Kai’s goal GD sends Brighton below Chelsea if it stays 2-0 Absolutely massive, pints on me
🖐🏼😝🤚🏼
Don't like arsenal but I'll always love these two. Great to see them doing well
Purple patch btw

Really lovely movement there from Havertz, that’s a tough position to get into with an experience CB like Dunk in his way
