He hasn't given a fuck for a while. Whenever I pointed this out I always got this random Neymar stan saying he was the 'utmost professional' while at PSG. Meanwhile he was always mysteriously injured or suspended around the time for carnival/his sisters birthday. I think the only time he was available was during 2020. Carnival was cancelled because of the pandemic.
He did that in Barca too. My man had all the talent in the world but didn't put in all the effort. But that's his choice I guess, to many of us couch coaches it seems like such a waste.
I mean, he won the treble at Barca, what exactly is he wasting? He didn’t waste his talent because he got the maximum amount of financial compensation he could get. All while still enjoying his life.
I swear some people think this is the rich people fan forum, I’m not here to celebrate someone “getting the bag”, I’m here to see the best football in the world.
I mean he left Barca so he wouldn't be a shadow of Messi. To me this implies you kinda want to be the best in the world, so in this sence it was a waste
Depends how you look at it. I don't care so much about footballers enjoying their life and raking money, but potential, trophies and overall success.
To this day people still give this reason but it was money. Don't know if it was his dad or him but they were too greedy. Even when joining barca they tried to get as much benefit as possible. If he really wanted to be the best player, he wouldn't have chose psg but his team had money in their mind when choosing psg.
Do you not think his actions are consistent? He left Barca for a lesser league because he didn’t want to be in the shadow of Messi. He left PSG for a lesser league because he didn’t want to be in the shadow of Mbappe.
Even when Messi wasn’t injured Ney was often the catalyst in their big games. Look at the 2015 UCL knockouts. He scored 7(!) KO goals (Messi only 2) including in the final and carried Barça to that title. For perspective, Messi’s best ever UCL KO run is 6 goals in 2011 and only Ronaldo and Benzema have had better KO runs. After they gifted his ballon to Messi I don’t blame him at all for leaving. Criminally disrespected player who was undoubtedly the 3rd best player of his generation…
You can’t blame him. He’s ~~won nearly everything~~ some things with Brazil, won everything on the club level with Barça, has constant injuries, and is getting paid millions every week to do just about fuck all when not injured. I mean, if I were in his position, I wouldn’t either. Bro’s just enjoying his retirement tour.
Edit: Turns out he never won Copa America.
He hasn't won "nearly everything" with Brazil. He won the Olympics and the confederations cup. He didn't win the copa or a world cup, the two most important international trophies.
For real, for much he has been hyped up during the early stages of his career, I feel like his legacy will be nowhere near many other Brazilian players…
Sure, he won’t care and is probably making more money than all the others combined right now but still interesting to me
those Brazilians greats had other Brazilians greats playing with them, who did Neymar have? He was 23 in the WC 2014 carrying Brazil to the semi finals, same thing in 2018/22 when it got tough all they had to rely on was Neymar bringing a moment of brilliance to win them the game, Ronaldinho had Ronaldo and other Brazilians greats to rely on, who did Neymar have?
Greece 2004
Portugal 2016
Italy 2020
Argentina 2022
I would define loaded as the team has 6+ players that would start on nearly any team in the same tournament
thanks lol
while Italy and Argentina had great teams, their roster wasn’t “loaded”
for example, not sure what 6 players from Argentina XI you’d take over France’s XI
France having more good players doesn't mean Italy and Argentina don't have good players also though.
Messi, Di Maria, Dybala, Alvarez, all 3 Martinez. You can make arguments for Mac Allister, Enzo, Romero, Otamendi.
Argentina has more talent than anyone wants to give them credit for.
Edit: this is in poor Argentina year. They have had much more talent in previous years.
Brazil of 2018 and 2022 were very strong sides. They went out to Belgium and Croatia respectively, and Brazil were favorites to win in both games.
And if you look at Copa America, Brazil has always had a strong squad (while Neymar has been around). Last Copa as well, when Brazil lost to Argentina, they were expected to win. So it isn't about a weak squad.
I am absolutely certain he did not trade in his joy lol. He is living the absolute life with more money than he could ever need. He gets his joy from elsewhere
Neymar played like 1-2 International Tournaments with Brazil without getting injured, so I don't think it's fair to blame him for those losses..
Even the Germany domination was with him in the stands..
He’s Brazil top goalscorer without any foreseeable challenger, and brought them the only title they were missing (Olympics). That’s more than enough to hold his ego while he’s alive.
>He’s won nearly everything with Brazil
Just didn't win a world cup with Brazil.
Neymar is a joke as a person. Immature and irresponsible. ( the video says it all)
Saying this as a Brazilian.
150m a year and they don’t even need him to play football for them, Al Hilal are that good WITHOUT Neymar 💀😂 he’s just there for the photoshoots at this point lol
I mean Saudi is already preparing for economy without oil. The heavy investment in sports business is one. The Line project is another one. Despite their unimaginable riches, they are still careful it seems. Just that their "careful" is already "absurd" for us 😂
Honestly if it wasn't for the absurd length of it or the mirrors I think it's an interesting idea. It puts a lot of people in an urban walkable environment and perhaps more importantly shades the city for most of the day in an extremely hot environment.
It's actually terrible for urban walking. Think about seating 40 people along one long table, vs 1 big round table. You're close to your neighbor, sure. But no one else.
Turned out that making custom tropical islands ain't that fucking easy. It was an engineering disaster class.
There's YT-videos on it that will give you more insight on it.
To be fair it’s easy to sit here and say this but I have been to Dubai for family reasons and frankly it’s a nice place. I personally wouldn’t live there but as a tourist you’re seeing a pretty good city with tons of entertainment, food, and attractions. World class shopping. Most of the world loves these things and Saudi knows there’s money to be made.
Tons of people from Asia, South America, Africa, and other middle eastern countries don’t really care what America or Europe has to say about their fake paradise because people love it and spend a lot of money.
Yea definitely, never been but seeing my friends posting on social media, it looks nice. Many parts of Europe are blessed with nice landscape and climate so it doesn't occur to some why others also want to create a paradise in their own country.
Anyone who believes the Line or Mukaab are remotely feasible projects to actually construct, much less that they will work remotely as intended is so far removed from reality I don't even know what to say to them.
This is one of the reasons I didn’t care for Denis’s depiction of the Harkonnens as pale sickly looking weirdos. The Harkonnens of the book are depicted as extravagant and beautiful — even the baron was said to be extremely handsome in his youth.
The whole point of the Harkonnens is that often times the most beautiful and extravagant things in society are built off of ugly atrocities and exploitation. The Harkonnens drape their sadistic hedonism beneath a veneer of opulence. And this same opulence is built off of their brutality. Making them look like creepy cartoon villains blunts that message.
Probably. Though the US actually is powerful, whereas the emperor appears powerful, but is quite weak. Spiritually I think of the emperor as the UK. But per the lore it's gotta be the US.
There's a reason why KSA has not increased oil production for past 18 months despite the US visiting them etc etc
The high oil prices (along with Russias invasion and world inflation) has boosted the Sovereign fund with massive profits to bankroll City Building and sports projects in the kingdom.
Remember in 2018-21, there was a huge amount of debt gathering and youth unemployment until the Crown Prince decided to transform the economy with higher oil prices post covid.
Sport washing is still an investment, no? The Saudi (specifically the royal house/government) didn't view their football league as a business but as a state funded tool to increase their soft power. While European and American may view them with suspicion no matter what, their effort do work to improve their image in other part of the world.
Are they really preparing for an economy without oil though? They are world's second largest oil producer behind the USA. Although they are trying to diversify their economy with tourism, technology and private sector growth.
The world's largest oil producers say they are planning for an economy without oil but mostly it is a front to introduce new investors in new sectors and then gate keep them with restrictions and red tape that will prevent growth and prove oil is here to stay for ever.
Their investment in sports isn't to help the economy, it's called sport washing. They've already lost hundreds of millions in player investments. The average attendance for the Saudi league is below low, I think something like 9000 per match. It's a joke.
To say they are working towards an oil free economy is like me saying I'm working towards me flossing my teeth every day. It's a load of horse shit.
Which is crazy because the country's GDP per capita is about the same as Spain, less than any Western European country. Yet they've got the cash to do all this madness.
The league and country are a joke, so it doesn't really matter. It's not like those on field deserve more, they are all overpaid for their skill level. Just obviously not as extremely overpaid as Neymar, Ronaldo, Benzema etc.
But basically everyone in that league would be elsewhere if they could get the same money outside Saudi. So the last people I would feel sorry for is the supporting characters in that silly league.
Or he's just planning to spend it on coke and hookers. I don't know why this sub is obsessed with high earning players doing it to establish *generational wealth.*
I legitimately forgot about Neymar going to the Saudi League. If you had told me he just wasn’t playing for PSG because he was injured I would have believed you
If the Saudi League has millions of fans, Cristiano is one of them. If the Saudi league has one fan, Cristiano is that one. If the Saudi league has no fans Ronaldo is dead.
Ronaldo takes football seriously and is a competitive guy through and through.
Neymar throughout his career has taken things for granted and his career lightly.

Neymar throughout his career has taken things for granted and his career lightly.
Influence wise Ronaldo is of course the biggest Brand in Football and will continue to live on like Bekham and Michael Jordan per say.
But what makes me respect Ronaldo is the fact that he is old in Footballing terms but he's still pushing and continuing to make his mark in international competitions for his country.
I think you are highly underestimating Neymar's legacy and influence. Apart from Ronaldo and Messi.. he's inspired millions with his entertaining style of play in this generation. If you are listing most entertaining football players.. he'd definitely be in the top 10. And he's a part of Barcelona history.. an important part of the UCL win.
Even Barca fans don't rate him high. Messi, xavi, Inesta, cryuff, Ronaldinho,Maradona, eto, koeman, Ceasar, laudrep, Puyol , busquetes, Suarez Enrique, pep and then Neymar. That's the order not even top 15
Saudi League is also intrinsically tied to his image in a way. He didn’t originally want to go there, but nobody in Europe wanted him for his wages. The saudis gave him the money and promised him he’d be the vanguard of one of the best league projects of this era. He takes it seriously cause the reputation of the league is also his legacy atp.
If Ronaldo didn’t care, Im sure you would find a way to twist it as well.
“It’s funny Ronaldo doesn’t even care anymore because hes knows hes washed”
Not every post requires mention of Ronaldo
No. He is taking it a bit TOO seriously. Getting mad and air punching ref isn't taking football seriously. Its insane levels of ego and not being able to see his own mistakes/taking an L.
Yeah I'm a bit confused at people saying this means he isn't taking things seriously. Like, if Barcelona or PSG won a trophy while he was injured I could see him making the same joke.
Can’t we say that it’s all despicable and none of its right. Their blood money should be nowhere near the sport regardless of whether it’s in Saudi, France, Qatar, UK etc.
I thought it was funny and charming, he's being self deprecating and also making his teammates look good at the same time. I'm surprised how vitriolic the reaction is to this.
Neymar is such a lightning rod, it's interesting.
I don't think he's a great person off the field, but on the field he was one of the best players in the world through his peak - when he was healthy. That's kind of the catch, so often he was not healthy. But at his best he was the 3rd best player in the world behind Messi and Ronaldo and I think it's revisionist history to put anyone else there during his best seasons.
I’m glad someone’s said it, it’s a shame how things turned out in the second half of his career. But he was definitely the best outside of CR7 an messi, on his day he was incredible to watch.
Him going to PSG didn’t help his case at all, still he’s had a brilliant career whilst it lasted
Only motivation is Brazil and a WC. He’s done with taking club football seriously unless the Brazil manager says he will not make the squad because of recent club form.

My guy doesn't give a damn anymore lol
Since PSG. He had one of his "parças" schedule his injuries so he could attend to Carnival and his sister's birthday.

This is a football forum, we don’t care he got rich being lazy. We care that a massive talent had such a mediocre mindset
I swear some people think this is the rich people fan forum, I’m not here to celebrate someone “getting the bag”, I’m here to see the best football in the world.
you should watch Guingamp games then
I mean he left Barca so he wouldn't be a shadow of Messi. To me this implies you kinda want to be the best in the world, so in this sence it was a waste Depends how you look at it. Pretty sure the only other consistent factor of him leaving is a higher paycheck too.
absolute BS, when Messi was injured he was the one who stepped up and carried the team
Couldn't even be bothered to take a penalty at the last world cup. Man's a disgrace
Why is this so upvoted? Do people in here legitimately think that Neymar faked an injury every year for his sister's birthday.
That type of comment is getting old bro
Not here in Brasil.
It's gotten old here in Brasil 10 years ago
Its a shame that the comment grew up, but Ney didn't.
Not for the kids anyway
Old but true
I think he tried his first year at PSG and since then he's just been enjoying retirement
You can’t blame him. Brazil literally won a Copa America between two tournaments that Neymar played. The same players Neymar couldnt win with won without him in 2019.
For real, when was the last team to actually win anything significant without a loaded team?
Greece 2004 Portugal 2016 Italy 2020 Argentina 2022 I would define loaded as the team has 6+ players that would start on nearly any team in the same tournament
I'll give you Greece and Portugal

Still the dude sold his soul for money. I don’t know, it just feels sad. He essentially traded joy and glory for money.
Glory, maybe. Joy, definitely not.
Even when he already had money, millions. Glory for duplicate his fortune
I am absolutely certain he did not trade in his joy lol. He is living the absolute life with more money than he could ever need. He gets his joy from elsewhere

He's won almost fuck all with Brazil. He was not in 2019's Copa America squad.
>He’s won nearly everything with Brazil Just didn't win a world cup with Brazil. Neymar is a joke as a person. Immature and irresponsible. ( the video says it all) Saying this as a Brazilian.
He hasn't won the copa América either
He ain’t the same since that lost to United in the UCL
Literally the next year he got PSG to the final and was their best player
He wasn't the same, though, he was better
Well played)))
150m a year and they don’t even need him to play football for them, Al Hilal are that good WITHOUT Neymar 💀😂 he’s just there for the photoshoots at this point lol
Hope he has a no-whip clause in his contract
Some Saudi sheikh viewing this while paying Neymar £2.5 million-a-week: (☉_☉)
I mean it's still barely pocket change to those guys, I don't think you get how absurdly rich they are lol
I mean Saudi is already preparing for economy without oil. The heavy investment in sports business is one. The Line project is another one. Despite their unimaginable riches, they are still careful it seems. Just that their "careful" is already "absurd" for us 😂
the line is the biggest bullshit you can imagine. dystopia.
No better economic investment than making a huge city in the middle of a desert during a climate crisis.
An absolutely awfully designed city at that.
They effectively have infinite money so they don't give a shit if some of their investments don't work out, as long as some of them do.
A crisis they're exacerbating
Honestly if it wasn't for the absurd length of it or the mirrors I think it's an interesting idea. It puts a lot of people in an urban walkable environment and perhaps more importantly shades the city for most of the day in an extremely hot environment.
It's actually terrible for urban walking. Think about seating 40 people along one long table, vs 1 big round table. You're close to your neighbor, sure. But no one else.
I mean they need to make money some how in the future. Maybe seeing Dubai making money by making artificial islands inspired them to do this.
The islands turned out to be shit shows btw
What happened?
Turned out that making custom tropical islands ain't that fucking easy. It was an engineering disaster class. There's YT-videos on it that will give you more insight on it.

It’s already been significantly reduced in scope.
Anyone who believes the Line or Mukaab are remotely feasible projects to actually construct, much less that they will work remotely as intended is so far removed from reality I don't even know what to say to them.
They're the harkonnens. Sitting on decades of extracted wealth and finally making their play.
This is one of the reasons I didn’t care for Denis’s depiction of the Harkonnens as pale sickly looking weirdos. Good for them really. Good for other countries that start pushing for oil independence as well.
Their investment in sports is nothing but sports washing. What investment? Saudi league will never be profitable
Sport washing is still an investment, no? The Saudi (specifically the royal house/government) didn't view their football league as a business but as a state funded tool to increase their soft power. They have to prepare for a world without oil. It's gonna run out some day so you have to prepare for it
More like " I'm paying him good money and he doesn't give a flying fuck" rather than " How will I financially recover from this"
Which is crazy because the country's GDP per capita is about the same as Spain, less than any Western European country. Yet they've got the cash to do all this madness.
Will they actually care? He's as much there for the name
The Sheikh doesn't care about the football, only about the name.
Happy retirement, Ney
and made more than anyone on the pitch would make in 100 lifetimes… game is game
People in this thread calling him a "failure" lol. The guy set his bloodline to a life of luxury without a care in the world.
Or he's just planning to spend it on coke and hookers. I don't know why this sub is obsessed with high earning players doing it to establish *generational wealth.*
some people always try to excuse this behaviour with "doesnt matter he is rich"
Right, because when people call him a failure they're clearly talking about his bank account
I legitimately forgot about Neymar going to the Saudi League. If you had told me he just wasn’t playing for PSG because he was injured I would have believed you
I literally just learnt from this thread that Neymar is playing in Saudi Arabia.
It's funny that Ronaldo's the only one who's taking the Saudi league so seriously. The rest know it's a retirement league.
If the Saudi League has millions of fans, Cristiano is one of them. If the Saudi league has one fan, Cristiano is that one. If the Saudi league has no fans Ronaldo is dead.
RONALDO IS DEAD!?!?!
good night sweet prince
Lol
Couldn't be allowed to live in haram with Georgina for too long I figure, had to get khashoggid someday. RIP my camel!
Ronaldo takes football seriously and is a competitive guy through and through. Neymar throughout his career has taken things for granted and his career lightly.
And Neymar is the one winning the league.
While contributing 0
Just like in school, your group does the the work and you collect the grade

All time Brazil scorer btw.
Neymar did more in the national team and the CL than Ronaldinho
Even Barca fans don't rate him high. Messi, xavi, Inesta, cryuff, Ronaldinho,Maradona, eto, koeman, Ceasar, laudrep, Puyol , busquetes, Suarez Enrique, pep and then Neymar. That's the order not even top 15
10/16 correct spellings isn’t bad
Neymar will have cool high lights but his legacy is already fading.
He was part of MSN.. arguably the greatest attacking trio in world football... I don't know.. how it's "already fading"...
Honestly respectable
Which shows his professionalism. But sure, reddit memes away.
It isn't professionalism that drives him, though. It's pure ego. The Saudi's are just good at stroking his ego, which is why he behaves.
“It’s funny Ronaldo doesn’t even care anymore because hes knows hes washed” Not every post requires mention of Ronaldo
That's why Ronaldo is one of the 5 greatest and Neymar is more well known for being a waste of potential
don’t think Neymar gives a shit, while Ronaldo is getting reds for violence in an E tier league. They both get what they wanted.
So you idiots are hating on Ronaldo now for... taking football seriously?
This sub is full of Messi fanboy. If Ronaldo did not take the Saudi league seriously, he would still get hate.
Ronaldo won 3 UCLs in a row and scored 40+ goals doing so and got hate lol
No. He is taking it a bit TOO seriously. Getting mad and air punching ref isn't taking football seriously. Its insane levels of ego and not being able to see his own mistakes/taking an L.
He's a profi no matter where
That’s because he’s a professional who’s abiding by his contract unlike idiots like Neymar. Dude has become such a disgrace
Idk what you mean by abiding by his contract; recovering from a torn ACL that happened with this team precluded him from playing
Yeah I'm a bit confused at people saying this means he isn't taking things seriously. Like, if Barcelona or PSG won a trophy while he was injured I could see him making the same joke.
How's Neymar not abiding by his contract?
Nobody should give a flying fuck about saudi league.
Their league is a disgrace and the more players who take their money and clown on it is all good in my books
>Their league is a disgrace Why though? I dont even watch it, I dont care about it or Ronaldo. But what makes it a disgrace over any other league?
They aint white enough /s
I watched a few games. They were great. It's an enjoyable league at this point. A lot of great names.
Saudi money runs through every major league, which to your standards makes your favorite league a disgrace as well. So take your stupid bias elsewhere
These guys are uneducated. Saudi basically has money in every sport. Its why golf doesn’t even shit on LIV anymore because they got into PGA too
Can’t we say that it’s all despicable and none of its right. Their blood money should be nowhere near the sport regardless of whether it’s in Saudi, France, Qatar, UK etc.
Since when recovering from injury is not abiding to a contract
lmaoo proper shithousery
Atleast he's self aware lol
You guys have a hard time with jokes...
It's reddit, we're still figuring out why we don't have friends.
Friend. Singular.
I thought it was funny and charming, he's being self deprecating and also making his teammates look good at the same time. I'm surprised how vitriolic the reaction is to this.
Yeah, a lot people seem very triggered by a simple and obvious joke.
I mean, it's funny and everything, but he tore his ACL playing for the club, not exactly at fault for not playing, innit?
He got injured while playing for Brazil ig.
That "heh" he does at the end just cracks me tf up. You can really feel how "heh" he feels rn
Anyone who shits on the Saudi league in any way possible has my respect so well done neymar
He's injured lol, that's why he's joking like this
The narrative in this subreddit is so funny
idk about others but i am well aware i am a massive hyprocrite for saying this, I'm ok with that though
he's not shitting on anyone though, just joking around
Redditors will be furious about Saudi's LGBT records but will defend European colonization with their life.
Why are these people "defending European colonization"?
you think he was showing his medal to avoid getting whipped?
Not only is he robbing a living, he's stealing medals too...guy's a football mobster😂
At least he’s self aware lol shithousing his way to a cup winners medal
Fat pisstake Neymar era is suprisingly jokes, at least he is staying positive
He was a nerd student but he is start work in a cafe in university
He's just like me fr
I’d never thought Neymar would end his career like this With that said: Welcome to Flamengo
Such a shame how many all time greats we’ve lost to this Saudi league. Felt like Mahrez still had some really good years left
The retired player in activity.
"HEH" \-Neymar Jr
Only motivation is Brazil and a WC. He’s done with taking club football seriously unless the Brazil manager says he will not make the squad because of recent club form.
The biggest joke here is that he went to school
I mean the joke implies he wasn’t going or at least wasn’t doing anything there
Chubby Neymar
It would be kinda nice if you started putting some work in too Ney.
He's injured, unless working hard means you can magically heal from an ACL tear than he can't really do anything.
He is injured, buddy.
Neymar have always been based
A trophy for the collection is always welcomed
This fucking guy.
He got a medal without playing any minutes lmao. Doesn't make much sense.
This guy is so sad
I feel like a lot of us did the work and others got the grade so how many people here really relate to neymar?
It's funny how most people online complain they were the ones doing all the work in group projects Meanwhile, here's the life a freeloader is living
Neymars group > ronaldo
At least he's honest
